  1. I always hated doing compound cuts, then I got my Excalibur scrollsaw and they all of a sudden just work. Compound cut items are cool And people seem amazed by them
  2. This was an experiment, I'm going cut a large piece with bark on the top and bottom and cut a more detailed scene to make a wall hanging. I'm thinking it would look pretty cool.
  3. really I don't visit any other ones, I searched around for a while trying to find a good place to go. I simply don't ahve that much time to go to multiple sites. This site seems to provide a little of everything I need.
  4. As some of you might remember I made the Victorian train from finescrollsaw.com. Well I thought it would look cool if it had a passenger car, but he doesn't have a pattern for one so I made one myself. Here are a couple pics
  5. I took a steve good pattern and adapted it to a 1/2 inch thick piece of oak that has one side with the bark on it. (a piece I milled myself with a chainsaw mill) Because of it's thickness it stands alone. I think the bark top side really makes it look good
  6. Blue painters tape on the wood, spray glue on the pattern, wait a couple seconds and stick. Thats it
  7. Wow!!! Very nice
  8. Looks great keep em coming. I'd like to see what else you can do with that thing!
  9. Funny
  10. Very nice!
  11. Read your post again; I don't know of any "bad" blades. I never use pinned blades, there not bad you just have to make a big hole to accommodate the pin. And in a lot of work you don't want big holes.
  12. I have a 16" craftsman model 21601, not sure how much different it will be than yours but I've used it for the past 5 years. I think it's a great beginner saw. It is much louder than the higher end saws but not ridiculous. Mine has thumb screws for blade change so no tools required. I keep 3, 5, 7 and 12 blades on hand. Flat blades I don't really use spirals, just my preference. Most of them are ultra reverse blades
  13. Great job on the crosses, looking forward to seeing the next one. All I use is painters tape method. Works great. And is simple and fast.
  14. I dont really ever use 2/0, typically the smallest I use is a 3. As for the hole size, I have a separate chuck that goes in my drill press to use those really tiny drill bits. I got it and the bits from mikes work shop.
  15. I use 1/8 inch Baltic birch plywood for portraits. And put a piece of black construction paper as the backer. This will usually fit into a standard picture frame. I don't normally put any finish on the portraits unless for some reason they aren't framed and then just a clear gloss (water based or laquer just depends on my mood) Hope that's helpful Mike
  16. Looks great! Do you know what kind of trees those were? The colors looks great. Funny thing when I look at it I think of the flintstones.
  17. I like it. Looks really good. As for sticking the pattern to the wood dilemma, I use blue painters tape and 3M spray glue. Easy on easy off. Some spray it right on the wood then use mineral spirits to get the glue off but I don't like using chemicals.
  18. Nice they seem to be taking care of it pretty easily but still sucks to be without. Hopefully the new one will have no issues.
  19. That's awesome! Can never have too much wood
  20. I really like that one
  21. Looks really good, great work!
  22. That looks great! I like the stain too
  23. 5/8 " thick purple heart. Can't remember where I got the pattern from.
  24. Compound cut keychain (steve good)
