  1. I had the Dewalt for 7 years and it is a hoss. Over the years I probably ran 10,000 bf thru it with minimum maint. It has a very good chip deflector but I added a dust collector for extra power. It finally gave up the ghost a few months back . I didn't have the $$$ to repair or get a new dewalt so I got the Porter Cable that Lowes sells. It does the job well but i had to build a chip collector to hook up to the dust collector. Without that the chips are everywhere. I'm able to vent the chips out the back of my shop and down the hillside with 2" pvc pipe. To date i have planed close to 3000 bf mostly pine but it takes care of oak and cherry without much trouble. At around $250 it was a good deal. sully
  2. Check out the sureply sold at Lowes. It's cheaper than the cabinet grade 1/4 ply but is true ply and good one side only. great for where you will be useing a backer. sully
  3. My vote is for locking it down as well. Most of my patterns are of the Lord so i want them out there BUT not for profit !!! sully
  4. Bob that is awsome, thanks for showing sully
  5. Ronald, to the best of my knowledge all patterns posted here and other sites are free to use BUT NOT TO SELL OR TAKE CREDIT FOR. I have many patterns here for our members to use. You can sell the cuttings you make, just can't sell the patterns. There are legal issues and people have been sued and reported when it is blatantly done. Hope this answers your question. sully
  6. Edward , I tried it for a while with no interest at all sully
  7. I use titebond or elmers and also a wallpaper seam roller which does just like steve said . I use black felt as my backer so i lay the piece on the felt and press, then place a heavy book on it for pressure. works great for me and i get complete coverage. sully
  8. I used to buy mine at Office Depot but they cost around $15 per, then I found multi pacs online at amazon.com .Bout 20 refills for the price of just a couple at OD. Great buy !!! sully
  9. I use a stool as well thats padded and have a cushion close by. Raising the back of my saw about 6" makes a big difference on my back. sully
  10. I love squirrels, ----- with brown gravy drippin of them sully
  11. If you have Gimp you can scale the image to a larger size sully

  17. We had our family Christmas eve last night and I gave my son the cradle i made for my grand daughter due in a month. It's solid cherry and the spindles are cut on the scroll saw not turned. Finish is water based poly 3 coats. They loved it and i can't wait to see my granbaby in it. Thanks for looking. sully
  18. Not a sawmill but to get the pallet wood down to the size i need the boards need to go thru the planer about 4 times and i run about a pickup truck load at a time. so each board is 14' long x 4" and gets planed at least 4 times and a truckload is about 100 boards ,so my calculator says 5600 ft. per truckload. Thats linear ft. of coarse not board ft. Thats a mess of saw dust chips sully
  19. I did see that Mike when i looked this mornin. If it's still there after new years i might look into it. sully
  20. When the bearing went it tore up Jack, Jill, and all their cousins. Just the knife bar is over $100 ,then blades at $60, bearing at $20 and i don't know if the bearing race and housing is damaged. Thank God all the parts stayed in the planer when she blew up. sully
  21. Well after 6 years and probably 50,000 ft of wood run thru her my dewalt planer finally gave in. Not without a major scare on my part for sure. The main bearing for the knifes destroyed itself with a racket to wake the dead. She was a great planer but not fixable cost wise. I'm looking at getting the Porter Cable one that Lowes sells, anyone have feedback on it ? I know it can't match my Dewalt but money is tight and lately i am only running pine thru the planer. Hope to get a new one after the new year starts. Thanks sully
  22. Merry Christmas to you as well Joe sully
  23. Paul you did amazing on that and to do it with spirals is twice as amazing. I can never control them enough to do the tight cuts. Thanks so much for sharing with us. sully
  24. But if yer like me and don't tuck yer shirt in it don't really matter but it does help to look in a mirror ----- HMmmmmm maybe i could use a mirror to see the bottom clamp ?????? sully
  25. I'm a bottom feeder. I just have done it that way from the start. It would be easier to put the blade thru the hole in the top but tightening it into the bottom clamp would mean i would have to stand on my head to see it. JMHO sully
