Jeffert, There's no right or wrong way to sell your stuff. All the above advice is true. I have tried FB and it was a flop big time so i don't even mess with it any more. I stick with craft shows and my local FM. Craft shows are the best way to go. Price is totally up to you and the area you live in based on economics. I don't sell a lot but enough to make it worthwhile to do shows. Also my wife does jewelry and we have other handmade things we do. My highest portrait is $100 and my lowest is $20. I know this don't help much just don't give up. sully

For $50 i'd keep it. The belt and disc are standard size so go for it. sully

Rick Gray at the old free4all loved them, use to ecourage everyone to come to the "dark side". Like i said i use them but only when i have no choice and then i want to bang my head into a wall when i'm done.. Spirals suck big time but are about the only thing you can use on large pieces. I have to think long and hard on a piece if it's to large to spin on the saw as to whether or not to do it because of the spirals and fuzzies. You can get used to them over time but the fuzzies are part of cutting with spirals. When needed i use a torch and orbital sander. Try useing FDUR's next time, i use #5's on 95 % of my portraits and spend maybe 10 seconds with a orbital on the back when i'm done. The front just needs a couple of seconds. sully

Todd, great link. My Planer is set up on a 55 gallon cyclonic vacuum but i wear hearing protection when i run it. But if you extended the hose from the saw to the cyclonic drum and put the vacuum unit far enough away or even outside Then the niose from it would be almost zero when running the saw. Then having it run only when the saw runs is good to. I've burned up 4-5 shop vacs over the years , dang things don't like to run for hours on end ???? so many new gadgets to make and no time. sully

Inlay would be cool but just wonder how the floating parts of the 6,8,9,10 would do ??? Could add bridges but that would change the font. Hmmmmmm Tis a puzzle ain't it ??? sully

Berry my wife and i do craft shows and flea markets and festivals and all we can hope for is a little profit. It's not so much about the money but more cause we have fun. My best advice cause i've been there " don't make it a job" you will lose your love of Gods gift to scroll. Keep it fun if you are going to try to make money at it. Production work sucks.Deadlines suck, Schedules suck. But scrollin is big time fun when you can sell some. In other words i'm no help to ya hehehehehehehe sully

Ok thanks Travis and all others that voiced their opinions. This is how i feel as a pattern maker ,and as a scroller, I and all pattern makers work hard to put out patterns for the joy of others to use for the love of scrolling. My most recent pattern took me 7 hours to do so if someone just took it and removed my signature to post it as free with out even a thank you our not even asking i like DonR would be PISSED !!! I'm pissed because a couple of Ricks patterns were taken and Rick is a true scrolling friend of mine. It's just not right. GOD said THOU SHALT NOT STEAL !!! and that is all this is plain and simple. If your neighbor takes your tools and does not ask what is it ??? Forget copyrights that's a different issue in itself. We don't have pattern police in the scrolling community so it is up to us to make sure that no one crosses the line. I'm sorry if feathers were ruffled by all this but right is right and wrong is wrong and posting someone else's patterns without their permission is WRONG!!! Taking patterns from free4all before it closed wasn't wrong because all of us did it but not for personal gain. It's situations like this that make a lot of pattern makers stop and pull their patterns from all sites --- myself included. Just my final thoughts on this mater for now. sully

After checking the patterns there at least 2 are Rick Grays AKA Scrollzilla's 1 is Trips from here at SSV, 12 Are Sir Scrollsalot's,and at least one is Granpa's, How do i know you ask ??? He didn't even take the signature off them sully

Just a quik update on that site, there are patterns there that are here and other forums but because i don't know who the admin is i will not pass any judgement ---- Yet ---- i will however send PM"s to other admins to let them know to check it out. sully

Richard , I don't know all the reasons why it closed but mainly Rick and Gina just had a lot on thier plate with the new Granbaby arriving and there was some major issues with some members. I don't know the details but knowing Rick it was a very hard choice he made to close the site. I and all his freinds miss them dearly and wish them all the best. sully

I was able to join and i got my confirmation email as well. I looked around breifly and didn't see any of my patterns. Question is this who is it ? I for one welcome another forum but only if it is done right !!! Ricks old free4all, Travis's SSV, Gayles Cafe ,Steve's site and Chris Messmans siteand, scrollsawyer are done right. I will wait a bit to see who runs this new site and what the standards are. If they don't hold up to the standards set by others i'll be the first to jump on the milkcrate and say so. sully

I use a small c-clamp on the top side of the arm and then attach the bungee to it but basically the same idea as this sully

Only thing about a vacuum vs a air pump is the noise issue. Vacuums are inherently much louder than a air pump from an aquarium. also the main reason for any pump is to keep dust off the pattern making the blade and lines visible. Just my 3 cents worth due to the cost of living increase. LOL sully
