  1. Welcome to the village Aaron! I am Danny from Nebraska. You are going to fit in just fine around here. I am sure your family will receive many handmade gifts thru the coming years and will cherish them for generations. When you get your clock finished I would invite you to go for an intarsia project or two or three or more. Also try some double bevel inlay. Jim Finn is the master of that as you have probably seen looking thru the forum. Do a search on the subject and he will teach you how to do it if you haven’t already. With your artistic skills I will be looking forward to seeing many pictures of a lot of wonderful projects.
  2. Rhonda let me clue you in on a little secret. It helps to be a little ornery or just a little crazy around here. This is a great bunch of people and a more helpful bunch would be dang hard to find but we also believe in having a little fun in life. Between the Phantom, Rob Roy, and Keefie I am not sure which one is the most ornery. You may want to team up with Wombatie once in a while to pick on those guys. Of course myself I am a little angel. I would never pick on anyone. (No one I didn’t consider a friend that is) Welcome to the village Log in often and get to know the people and their work and PLEASE show off your work. We love to see pictures of your work and your machine or shop. Take advantage of the GREAT free patterns and most importantly enjoy yourself. That pretty much covers all the qualifications
  3. I don't use pine very often but I will give that a try next time I do. It really turned out Great.
  4. I can tell the force was with you when you cut this one! I could set and watch star wars all day long and into the night and Yoda is one of my favorite characters. Great job and Thanks for sharing. Now my only question is: Did you use your light saber to burn the edges or a torch like us common folks?
  5. I think if I see the I am watching you cut out I might think you were a stalker and avoid your booth. Lol Looked like a great presentation to me but I hope you didn't wear the mask to the show.
  6. Here it is. The box I made for my son’s wedding. The box is my own design patterned after a box I made some years back and scaled down with a few changes to make the top even angles and therefore easier to make. I used woods to reflect the colors of their wedding. Red, gold, and black. The box is cedar and the inlays are oak, walnut, and box elder. I wish I would have used maple for the date to make it stand out a little better but my son wanted walnut to have the black in the box. I also wish I had made the bells just a little bigger and moved them down just a little to get them away from the white part of the cedar. I guess you live and learn. I am happy with it for my first inlay project anyway. Next to make a box for my fiancé for our wedding. A Big Thanks goes out to Jim Finn for sparking my interest and being a great tutor at the double bevel inlay
  7. They are both great but I really like the one of your daughter! Enjoy every minute you get with them at that age because before you know it she will be out of college and all grown up.
  8. You can't go wrong with the man in black! You did a GREAT job cutting it. I would definitely hang it in my house. Thanks for sharing.
  9. That turned out REALLY COOL!!!!!!! I love it. It happens to be the day I am getting married so I like it even better.
  10. I love the wood selection!!! Looks like the wind tunnel testing and the smoke blowing over and under the car!
  11. Went thru one of those about a year and a half ago. Kept my woodworking equipment but would NEVER CALL IT NICE. Welcome to the village. Hope you post pictures of your new saw and your work as it rolls off the saw.
  12. I purchased a Dremel like that 20 years ago and used the p@## out of it. I have a small Hegner now but still using the Dremel for inlay even after all these years. It is a machine that just won't die. Although I have done some rebuild and repair on it. James the one thing you should know is you’re only limited by your own imagination. Which means I am extremely handicapped in these regards?
  13. You can just make mine out of one hundred dollar bills before you send it to me Kevin. That way you get more bucks for your bang. Great job on the box and the puzzle! Looks great!!!!!
  14. Those saws can be dangerous creatures. I have a grove thru my left thumb were I ran it over my table saw years ago. When I think about it I can still feel every tooth as it struck the bone. Kind of like it was in slow motion even thou it happened so fast I didn’t even have time to say ouch!!!!!
  15. COOL!!!!!! I need to find time to make a couple of those for my grandkids!
  16. There are no mistakes in that cut! It is spot on perfect!
  17. That sounds an awful lot like mulberry wood. I have made some rolling pins and a few other projects out of it and it is a beautiful wood. That is a beautiful vase. Well done.
  18. Hey Bob!!!!! I don't live in the area but I will have in-laws in the area very shortly. You should know were Chesterton is and Porter not to mention Portage. I have been promised a steak at Kelsey's next time we go to visit. Now I was told that Santiago was supposed to be great Mexican food but the night we were there it sure didn't live up to my standards. Just now I have been promised breakfast at Le Peep so we will see if that is as good as I have been told. Welcome to the village. This is a wonderful place to learn and share your work. WE LOVE PICTURES so please post some pictures of this fancy fire wood you talk about. I am betting your the only one that would know you made a mistake.
  19. Welcome to the village!!! I like to see so many people from so many countries and cultures on this forum because they all bring their little twist to the artistry. Join in and enjoy yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask questions as we all learn from the experience of others and there are a lot of experienced people on this forum.
  20. Shucks I was hoping to see how much they cost and possibly get a few and try them out.
  21. Were do you get these drill bits? I have been getting the jobber 118 Deg. drills and the shorter 135 degree split points but they all have the same size shank as the drill size.
  22. At 100 surface feet you would need to run the drill at 15,000 RPM. This is slow for wood. It is actually the speed I would run it for cold roll steel. They don’t make a tool that turns fast enough to run the proper surface footage for wood so run it as fast as you can and call it good. You just need to be very steady so you don’t tweak the drill and snap it off.
  23. I love seeing this one. I have always loved seeing my kids work with their dogs and this brings back some fond memories. Thank you for sharing.
  24. I hope her parents have a VERY LARGE HOUSE! It is going to be over flowing with toys made by Grandpa.
  25. Very beautiful Box!!!!! Congratulations on a project well done. It looks about the right size to put the family bible in. I may have to make one for my Lady. Wait, what am I thinking!!!! 2000 holes!!!!!
