Made this one for a friend of mine, It is for his grandson who is a mad soccer player & needs somewhere to display his ribbons .The centre piece is a Steve Good pattern ,

If the letters are big enough I usualll give a light smear of glue then I put
a few 1/2 "screws in from the back & countersink the heads as I don't trust glueing to a painted surface.
Silky oak is an Australian Hardwood & is of the Grevillea Family (Grevillea Robusta). I managed to get an old fireplace mantle piece & when I stripped the paint away this is what I found,a very pretty looking timber
This is my first go at inlay work but I have a long way to go to match Dave .I quite enjoyed doing this one. The inlay pattern came from Steve Good & the fretwork pattern on the underside of the lid is one of Sue Mey's. The main part of the box is silky oak & the lighter coloured strip is pine
I have made some firewood myself ,Its all a learning curve & I try to learn from it & not make the same mistake again.Trouble is there is always a different mistake to test you.
