Brenda I hope you share what you get. I have watched an number of videos today on "Cloned Tile Clones" and for some reason I can not get it to rotate correctly. Won't rotate on the centre. I have moved the centre but still no go. I am getting closer and I will share once if I ever get the cog done.

I turn from time to time. Pens, bowls and wig stands. I like to kid at our club that I graduated to scrolling. It is a fun rivalry scrollers versus turners.

Good Friend is retiring so I made a desk plaque and pen holder.. The wood is African Mahogany. That is not the same pen as I will give as the real pen is out to be engraved. Same kit and similar wood.

Last night I did a talk on enhancing your work with Flocking and Clay inlays at our club. I thought I would post the pictures on some of the works that I presented. It is hard to see the flocking but all the boxes flocked. I had a couple of turned items that were either flocked or had an inlay too. I think it was well received as there was lots of discussion on both topics.

I do after and it does not run. Did it for years on the bottom of bowls I turned.

I sometimes use a medallion. The type you can get from Steve Good. It is too expensive to ship to Canada so a guy with a laser does them. (With Steve's blessing). Other things I just use a fine sharpie. Sign name and date. Most things like ornaments go unsigned.

Thank you I installed and with a quick search and copy I moved all my scroll fonts to a collection and then stencil in another collection. This should save me some time. Thanks again

The thing about this forum is I am always getting inspiration to learn more Inkscape. When I saw this post my first thought was to recreate the pattern but I did not know how to "warp" the text. After watching a few youtube videos it is actually quite easy. The video that made it clear was https://youtu.be/ldbdhVWaT20 You have to down load an extension called Bezier Envelope Extension and I also downloaded his svg for the the warp shapes. Follow the links After a little experimenting I create a pretty good replica of the pattern. I am quite sure I am going to use this technique in the future.

Everyone has a favorite and I think that whatever you get used to will be your go to blade. I have used FD ultra reverse for years and it is my blade of choice 95% of time. I find I get a real smooth cut so no sanding required. I have tried Olsen and Pegas bladed and they may be fine blades but I can still follow the line with a UR much better.

Each year our club gets invited to a luncheon at our local cancer support centre - Hearth Place. We turn wig stands for cancer patients that go to those who need a wig as a result of their treatment. The wig stand is a nicer place to store the wig. (If anyone is a turner too and would like info on this let me know). Anyways, I thought I would take an ornament for each of the volunteers for the Look Good Feel Better program. I started with a couple of Steve Goods patterns (Peace theme) and started to look for some others and I found the Star and the Tree by Travis and the Candle by Wayne Mahler in the "Ornaments for Charity Book". Wish I would have looked there first as it would be just a little different take on the Ornaments for Charity. I have stacked cut 1/8 BB and sprayed with glitter. Approx 30 so far. Thanks to the pattern designers who contributed.

Each year at our Christmas dinner I make place markers for everyone know where to sit. Started back 8 years ago with Steve Goods personalized ornaments. Over the years I have done mostly ornaments but have done sleighs, last year dangles and this year we have snowman ready to go. 19 expected for diner. The pattern is by Sue Mey( modified), decorated by my better half and the laser broom by a friend at our club. There are 5 designs but all decorated uniquely.

I think you are right. I am a font Junkie so I looked again and found a couple. Not exact but have square serifs. Typo Slab and ChenkFiveEx both available on dafont.com

Thanksgiving has come and gone here in Canada but I do have to be thankful for our family. I have 2 daughters that have followed careers that allow them to help others. One is a nurse and the other is a principal in a public school. Very busy but they still have time for their families too. This project was inspired by Steve Good’s pattern sportingmoms.pdf My youngest has 3 boys that play hockey. Two play at AAA which means 2-3 practices a week and 2 games a week each. They play all over south eastern Ontario. The oldest also plays house league which means 2 games a week. My Son in law is a policeman and so it is up to her to makes sure that all the boys get to their hockey (we get called on often). They never miss and she loves it. She is the Super Hockey MOM and so Steve’s “Hockey Mom” was a perfect stocking stuffer. I reduced to 3 inches and then added the #1. It was my wife’s idea to eliminate the base. My wife asked if there was a lacrosse Mom for our other daughter. My Granddaughter plays elite Field Lacrosse and it is my daughter is her big supporter and chauffer. This summer they played all over southern Ontario, Michigan and upper New York. Fall and Winter 2 practices a week. Not one in Steve’s pattern book, so I made a pattern in Inkscape. Well, 2 out of the 3 ladies in my life are covered for stocking stuffers so I made the Hockey Gramma pattern and cut the same as the others. She is a big supporter of the Whitby Wildcats and makes whatever game she can arrange but still takes the others when required. My family busy and great sport supporters. All pieces cut from ¾ red oak using Flying Dutchman UR-5 and 3’s. Finished with Tung Oil.

The font looks like times new roman. I played with the R and it looks like below. It is created it two layers. Top layer the letters green and the bottom the layer blue expanded with a dynamic offset. (I think). I would like to know if others have any other ideas.

Looks good it is really hard to see. When I cut plywood I always stack cut at least 2 and it that way it gives it more support and you have a built in back up. I did one recently that I knew that I was going to paint and then the backup was okay. It is going to the coach.

New for 2018 - Happy Halloween pattern is from Steve Good. The Pumpkin pattern is from Kathy Wise. Forgive me for my "Intarsia sins" as I dyed the pumpkin and stained the cat.

Thanks for showing. I was going to cut this weekend but no time with CDN Thanksgiving this weekend, I like that you reduced. Great idea. I am also going to do HOCKEY GRAMMA after 3 games in the arena yesterday.
