  1. The font looks like times new roman. I played with the R and it looks like below. It is created it two layers. Top layer the letters green and the bottom the layer blue expanded with a dynamic offset. (I think). I would like to know if others have any other ideas.
  2. Looks good it is really hard to see. When I cut plywood I always stack cut at least 2 and it that way it gives it more support and you have a built in back up. I did one recently that I knew that I was going to paint and then the backup was okay. It is going to the coach.
  3. New for 2018 - Happy Halloween pattern is from Steve Good. The Pumpkin pattern is from Kathy Wise. Forgive me for my "Intarsia sins" as I dyed the pumpkin and stained the cat.
  4. Thanks for showing. I was going to cut this weekend but no time with CDN Thanksgiving this weekend, I like that you reduced. Great idea. I am also going to do HOCKEY GRAMMA after 3 games in the arena yesterday.
  5. Here is the video of using the 7 1/4 blade. Fairly long but very informative. https://youtu.be/lVO7BkA6CN4
  6. I just went down and looked at my saw and I have he Freud Diablo 1050X on my General contractor saw. I use for almost everything. I do have a Freud Ripping blade that I change to when cutting hard wood for cutting boards. I also have a cheap Dewalt 7 1/4 blade that I use when I cut thin slats for my baskets. There are videos that recommend using a 7 1/4 most of the time. I can't locate the one I watched but the chap used it for everything.
  7. I do a lot of compound cutting and at one time I made a clamp. Lost it somewhere so now I use 2 small clamps around 2 pieces of wood. I did glue sandpaper to 2 sides to hold a little better. Like this better than the clamp as I can change from side to side real quick.
  8. I see no issue with cross posting. Steve site needs all the posts it can get. It is too bad Steve doesn't visit every once and while.
  9. Frank I use Inkscape. Travis did a video on doing this. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/12658-word-art-intersecting-word-art-with-inkscape/ Jerry also did a cheat sheet. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/16735-cheat-sheet-for-inkscape-interassecting-word-art-101/?tab=comments#comment-161428 I don't do exactly as I usually use a script font called Scroll Script MT instead of Bird of Paradise in the video. That way I don't have to do the bridges but have used various fonts. If you have any you need, let me know as it takes about 2 - 3 innings of a ball game to do pattern. You don't have to restrict it to names. I did one for my daughter lacrosse team and have done this Guelph in background and name in front for a friends daughter when she got accepted..
  10. Try aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=200216091&initiative_id=AS_20180914124009&SearchText=led+lights+decoration I have bought some things there and they take awhile to get here but are real cheap. My experience is to pay for traceable shipping.
  11. In a previous post http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/30725-christmas-is-comin/ the question was asked if any non religious layered patterns out there. I designed one myself and posted the pattern I now have it cut and painted. On the suggestion of Frank Pellow I added a 1/4" spacer one ahead of the back and a 1/8 rim on front. Will make some changes now the prototype is done.
  12. Frank I did it myself. I used the first layer from Steve Goods design and then adding clipart that I found on the Internet. I did in Inkscape. Not much of an Artist but I like to try. Hopefully, I will cut it out today and see what it looks like. Based on what I find out when I cut it I am going to do a Halloween theme. Don
  13. Maybe for you. Here is my try at a 4 layered scene. I have not cut yet but if anyone has any comments please let me know. I will cut from BB later today. The pdf has and extra blank layer. UPDATE - CUT MY FIRST LAYER AND THE 4 INCHES LOOKS BIG. NEXT TIME I AM GOING TO REDUCE 10%. layered test 1.pdf
  14. I use the Zinsser Bulls-eye Sanding seal coat as it is 100% wax free. I paint over it all the time and use a sharpie for eyes and signatures. I get at Rockler each time I visit as the Canadian version does not state wax free.
  15. My Grandson is a hockey player. I made him a key rack last Christmas and I am not sure it got put up. On Wednesday we had him visit for the day and he cut his number out all by himself and painted. He then went home and had the key rack and numbers put up in his room. The number really added to the theme. ( I now have 3 more grandkids to do numbers)
  16. If the ornament is in wood, I dip in tung oil let dry well and spray with poly. Most of my ornaments are in Baltic Birch and I don't like the edges so I paint. Usually I spray with rattle can - white or gold. I use the Rustoleum gold Glitter for the if available. Often I the white spay the with Glitter Blaster silver of gold. I have then sprayed with a sealer (not very often as expensive). Sometimes I high light leaves or bells with craft paint.
  17. Really like the colour. Well done. I have done the other Sue Mey Love to quilt and it is a real hit. I am sure if you displayed in a quilt shop you could get lots of orders if you want them. One of mine is in a quilt shop as they sponsored a quilting bee to raise funds for the local cancer support centre and I have had inquiries but I say this was done just for them. I have done it at least 5 times for quilting friends.
  18. Great job I have added just a felt backer on one and it looked pretty good,
  19. Thank you. Etsy is just doing the conversion at par. I was just curious. Don
  20. That is really beautiful Question what is that in USD? When you converted to Etsy it jumped the price to $12.90 Canadian. Just curious.
  21. Pine will turn amber over time. I seal with Zinsser Seal Coat. (50 - 50 with alcohol). Slight sanding. I then finish with Poly. Depending on the piece I either use Minwax wipe on or the poly spray. I like the clear statin finish versus gloss but that is a personal choice. After 2 coats I use the artificial steel wool to remove any fuzzies. Usually 3 coats is usually enough.
  22. Not my pattern but WayneMahler. I was so impressed that I played around trying to duplicate and I know the font is Bird of Paradise (72 points). I plan on doing some name plates for a school and wanted to present this as an alternative to what I normally do. Great job on pattern and cutting.
  23. I have been a woodworker from early grade school as my Dad was a woodworker and had me making things when I was in grade school. I made lots of furniture with fancy backs and kick plates, lots of ginger bread, clocks that I cut with jig saw or fret saw. I even had a old Craftsman one speed scroll saw that will bounce off the table if you don't clamp it down. I never knew that there was pin less blades and why the table tilted until I took a course at the Durham Woodworking Club some 8 years ago. I did the wolf head below (it extends out about 1/4 inch). That was on a Saturday and over the weekend I researched scroll saws and on Tuesday I order a EX-21 and by Friday it was up and running and as they say the rest is history.
  24. Sure looks lit an Arnold Volker design but I could not see on his web site. I sent you a pm. Don
