  4. Welcome susan from the south West Ohio. IKE
  5. for me I would need one in a magnifying glass( like the proud florence lights. I need the magnifying more than more light.
  6. I have seen some cabinet makers at my old place of work they thinned it down with 50% mineral spirits and used a piece of cardboard as a squeegee and wiped it off that way and it worked out fine, dried fast.
  7. Welcome Becky. This village is a great place to be lots of information. any questions ask.I go to my little shop to get away from my wife, Oh I LOVE her but her daytime TV just drives me up the wall. What kind of saw do you have?
  8. welcome to the village. Ray. we here like to hear from you often. we like to hear from you oldtimers.
  9. I just bought s;ome Olson's blades packed by olson and they are flat on both ends, The older blades by Olson are tapered and the newer ones aren't. both were in the olson factory package
  10. I don't see where the olsons blades are expensive, maybe 10cent per blade, but they last longer than any other blade i have ever used including F.D. blades
  11. I have a plunge router and it works great.
  12. I use Olsons blades 995 of the time and that is what your blades look lie
  13. I have a show coming up in a month I wil get on it after that,
  14. I was running my backup saw today. I bought it last fall It is a type 1 hadn't been used much as per the wife . The owner died a couple of years og and I bought ti for $150 ran it a little last fall maybe 10 hours and 6 hours today. any way it started making noise sounds like metal chattering but earlier I herd a bump . any suggestions before I tear it down.
  15. nice work thanks for showing
  16. When cutting plywood I always stack 3 pieces some times it chips but with stacking you always have at least one piece being good. it it takes a hour to cut this project and you get 3 pieces it is oly 20 minutes per piece.
  17. from what I see the blades shown above are junk. I use olson's my 2nd choice is FD blades not much difference just a preference.I haven't broke but one blade in the last 2 years mayee longer than that. the blade makes the difference but even with a good blade if you push the blade they won't last I very seldom use any speed above # 5 on the dw 788 the top speed is a #8
  18. that must be a happy goat. When I was a kid we raised goats and I never saw a goat smile.
  19. Go to a hardware store and buy a tube of anti siege. apply this to the clamping screw. this makes it easier to tighten down the blade screw and it makes them hold better. you can loosen the screw easier. kit also saves the blade holder from wear. I have used it for about 30 years and I bought my second tube lasdt year at a cost of $5
  20. You did good on thase crosses. it looks like you will do good on fretwork.
  21. I agree with Randy. The next step up is a porter Cable but I don't recomend them the one I had was a piece of junk . Then comes the DeWalt 788 which is a good saw and the cost of a new one is $500. OI bought a new DW 788 type 2 and A used type 1 or $150 the used ones usually run about $250. I had an older sears which was a good saw it was made by Delta.I used it for about 15 yeaars never had it in the shop
  22. That is one nice cooler, nice for picnics. you will get a lot of good comments on it.
  23. I tighten the blade at about 3/4 maximum on my DW 788 and I have my tension adjusted to where full pressure is hard to get. It all in The inter adjustment of the machine. find out where the blade pings at a high pitch by using your fingernail . and as Kevin ask what speed are you running, I very seldom run it above 5. and a blade usually last me 1-2 hours, i CAN TELL BY THE WAY IT CUTS AS WHEN TO CHANGE THE BLADE THIS COMES WITH EXPERIENCE. Today I changed the blade after about 1 1/2 and I was cutting 3/4 popular..It just didn't seel right to me.
  24. This was the first day that I have gotten out in the shop finished up some cuttings left over from last year, My next show is in the middle of April, so i will be out there every day that it isn't too cold. so it will last ;me till then.
