  7. Hey Roly, This is where they live. carved from Cottonwood bark. Each one about 30 inches tall. Don R
  8. Thanks every one for your great comments. Making the patterns and cutting them was almost like eating peanuts. Once you start....... They were a lot of fun to do even though I had to use my backup saw because my Delta is still sick but not quite terminal. Don R
  9. I made a pattern the other day for a Christmas elf, for a request on the other forum, then decided to make a few more. I cut three of them and I think they turned out OK. These were cut from 1 X pine scraps and finished with Watco Danish Oil, Dark Walnut. I also made a base pattern for them but didn't use it because they stand just fine by themselves. Don R

    Nice work, Pete Don R
  11. I just noticed it is a Model 214 which I think dates back to 1987. It is a 14 inch single speed (I think) but I believe it would be worth the $150 if it is in good shape. You might be able to talk him down a little. I guess the RBI is the only scroll saw built in the USA. Don R
  12. Don, I just found it on CL. You really should buy it. If you don't want it you could buy it for me and ship it to Tennessee. Don R
  13. How cheap? Don R
  14. Ralph, I also have relatively new websites on Weebly and traffic is starting to pick up. www.oldcrowwoodcrafts.weebly.com and www.oldcrowscrollwerks.weebly.com It takes several weeks for the web crawlers to find your site but eventually traffic will pick up. Although I am definitely not a web site expert, I recommend the following Post more specific items along with prices, they are not going to buy if they don't know the price Let them know, in several places how to order and how you want to be paid. I use the Paypal buttons but I also accept checks and money orders Publicize your email address with a link on each page. I wouldn't use the word "scraps" but would use phrases like "re-purposed wood" or "recycled". " Scraps" to me makes it sound like junk For your toys, I would emphasize that you only use American made, lead free paints and finishes. Get your web address out there at every chance you get. Reciprocal links are good. I would be happy to post a link to yours if you post a link to mine. Hope this helps Don R
  15. I make mine from 3 inches to 5 inches Don R
  16. No idea but I hope you are going to tell us eventually Don R
  17. I think that the 21 inch is a better value since the stand and switch are included. I am hesitating because it is still a Taiwanese import. Don R
  18. Heppnerguy, It is Delta 40-690 which is about a year or so old and I really like it except for this little habit that it seems to be developing. A few months ago, it began to make nasty noises and vibrating, the service guy said that all of the nuts, bolts and screws on the inside of the saw had loosened so he tightened everything up and used Loctite on all of them. It was fine for a few months then yesterday it started all over again, same noises and vibration. Delta did cover it under warranty and there is an authorized service center not too far away from me but it is a little annoying. I think I will start thinking about an Excalibur or Hawk and use this one as backup. Don R
  19. Made a few more ornaments yesterday, then my saw broke so it will have to go in for service (still under warranty). The sleighs and reindeer are from Docuptons pattern and the 2013 ornament is one of mine. The sleighs are cut from 1/8 inch BB, the reindeer are poplar scraps finished with Danish oil and the ornaments are 1/4 inch red oak. Don R
  20. Thanks for all the great comments, folks. Now I am cutting sleighs and compound reindeer from Docupton's pattern. I will post pics when I get a bunch of them done. Don R
  21. I made an early start on Christmas Ornaments yesterday. The angel is from a pattern by Smitty and the cowboy Christmas ornament is from a pattern I made in response to a request. Stack of 3 each cut from 1/4 inch red oak which was cupped, making the cutting a little tricky. Finished with Deft spray lacquer.
  22. I'm with Sully. Don R
  23. Clayton, I think that is the prettiest Kokopelli I have ever seen. Fantastic job! Don R
  24. Congratulations to both of you. Very nicely done. Mark, Glad to see you back. Haven't seen you in a while. Don R
