  1. Welcome from an old man in Arizona. We have a lot of information for anyone interested in learning a little more about the scroll saw. You will find a lot of help here in The Village and all you have to do is ask. One tip, one of the most important things for making one feel satisfied with their efforts is picking the right blades. Believe me it makes all the difference in the world. One hint.....stay away from purchasing your blades at the big box stores that sell wood, tools and other things for the home. They do not carry what you need. Good luck and have fun with your new saw. Dick heppnerguy
  2. Jason, I am happy to see that you chose The Village to hopefully make one of your new homes. If you log on often and respond to other posts, you will soon start to recognize some of the regular's names and soon you will find that you are so much in touch with us that you will understand that we are like a big world wide family of people who share their talents and ideas with one another. So continue to enjoy our site and to post your project under the 'bragging rights' section of the forum. Another quick way to get to know people here is to open up the 'Coffee house' forum and read what others are saying, to one another. It is fun of fun and interesting comments. So, I send you another WELCOME from warm and sunny Southern Arizona Dick heppnerguy

  5. THANK YOU.. FOR SOME REASON iT LOADED THIS TIME.. NOTHING DIFFERENT DONE FROM PREVIOUS DOWNLOADS, BUT IT WORKED. THANK YOU Dick heppnerguy
  6. I might try that if I can find a different version to download. Dick heppnerguy
  7. You are luckier then I am. I did all of the above and it still will not show up in Inkscape Dick heppnerguy
  8. I did all of the above, including removing and reinstalling the program and still it would not put the text in Inkscape. Has me really baffled. Dick heppnerguy
  9. I tried that and got the same results. I even deleted and reinstalled Inkscape with the same results. It is so confusing. I never had a problem like this before. I will try once more., thanks for the hint....i saw that on youtube and did just what you have told me here.. Dick heppnerguy I did this and even have the same example on my computer that you displayed above... the only thing i did not do, was to restart my computer itself.. I will go try that. thanks for responding Dick heppnerguy
  10. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP. I WAS DOING ALL THE THINGS SUGGESTED, OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND NOTHING WORKED. HOWEVER i USED THE LINK FAB 4 SENT AND IT WORKED. NO IDEA WHY, BUT IT WORKED. In the past I have downloaded a lot of different free fonts from Dafont.com and I have never come across a problem but now, all of a sudden there seems to be something I have forgotten or there are some different things added that I do not understand. Here is my problem. I have a different computer and have found that when i need a new font added to Inkscape it somehow does not get there. It does download and comes onto my list of fonts that I have for my 'word' but does not show in my options for Inkscape. Can someone please help me to getting my fonts to show in Inkscape? I am trying to get the font, 'birds of paradise' on my inkscape for my word plaques. I watched youtube and tried what I saw there but it still does not show up. Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated Dick heppnerguy
  11. I see why they are selling . They are very nice patterns and ended up to be something anyone would probably like to have Dick heppnerguy
  12. Very Very nice piece. You did a splendid job on this. It is truly a delightful project Dick heppnerguy
  13. you are lucky to have a wife that sounds like, if you get it on the wall, you're good. Mine just says, "that is not going to be hung in this house.". and the problem is over Dick heppnerguy
  14. Both of them came out really nice Well done Dick heppnerguy
  15. I clip off a bent end and keep going or change the blade. Dick heppnerguy
  16. i find with special orders that have pattern making involved, it usually ends up to be more time spent speculating and remaking patterns then is it worth. I am about ready to just refuse those orders. One can not see what is going on in someone else's mind and even thought they discribe what they want, I find after sending them a pattern to approve, they either refuse it or have decided on something all together different. Dick heppnerguy
  17. Nice job. i bet we will see a lot more of these in the future Dick heppnerguy

  22. Welcome to The Village. It looks like you have the perfect mentality and desire to become a great scroller really quickly. We all started where you are in scrolling and you will soon see that you will progress in ability with each piece you try. The most important thing to accomplish your desires is not so much the machine you are working on but rather the blades. The blades that are purchased in the big box stores are not what you want. If your saw will take none pinned blades, all the better. You will need to make your blade purchases on line. If you know not where....just ask. Nice having you join our world wide family Dick heppnerguy
  23. nice projects I especially enjoy your different wood choices you used on the same projects Dick heppnerguy
  24. nice job on the box. Keep making that sawdust and beat the depression. Dick heppnerguy
