  7. I had a nice phone conversation with Paul, (Scrappile) and he told me about her. Paul posted me her link and I was immediately awe struck, just like everyone here is. Like Rocky said, some people seem to have all the talent. I am so pumped, just looking at her wonderful work. It is truly a notch up from anything I have seen before. Dick heppnerguy

  18. Where is Wyatt Earp? I have a photograph of the real Doc Holliday too, if you would like to see it. The Western stars sure mean a lot to the ones that were lucky enough to have lived when they were on television, way back then. You are becoming the Old time Western star guy, here In The Village. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Challenging for any scroller. They keep you focused for sure. But for anyone afraid to tackle this type of pattern, all you have to do is remember is it all 'one hole at a time'. This is a fabulous example of patience and care. Beautiful piece. You do not have to enjoy anything Lord of the Rings to enjoy this cut Dick heppnerguy
  20. I liked that pattern too but so far I have never gotten to a point to cut it. Nicely done. It should bring a smile to a lot of people's faces. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Another nice piece by you and your framing is always an interesting part of your work. I love the challenges though. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Randy, I still have yet to try a cutting a coin. I believe I have your tutorial on my computer so, some day, maybe some day, I will give this a go. Oh, Randy, I want to thank you for all the advice and helpful comments that you have given me through the years. I always enjoyed them and your ability to say and be honest with all of them Dick heppnerguy
  23. NO NO. Do not give up on intarsia. You did a really fine job on your snake project. Make sure the first several pieces are not a difficult one to do. Trying something really hard at the beginning of anything, will almost always leave a person feeling defeated. I would suggest keeping your projects with no more then 35 pieces. That way you will have a feeling of accomplishment and success. I too, often get anxious when I am cutting something that takes a long time and then I start to rush to get it finished and that usually leads to some disappointment. So take it easy. have fun. Meflick has some wonderful suggestions for you. The book you posted is a good one to start with. You will find the pieces are probably 35 or less, each. So take your time, feel good about your shaping efforts, glue them together carefully, when you are finishing it, again take you time. Pretend you are making it as a special gift that will be seen by many, knowing they all will know YOU made it. Go for it and continue to post your work. I am also one who is rarely ever completely happy with most of the things I cut, for one reason or another, just because I know every little mistake in it. Have fun and don't try to advance too quickly. It will always be a learning experience. I know, I have been at it for nearly 12 years and I still consider myself a mediocre Intarsia and scroller craftsman. That is OK thought because for most, I enjoy making what I make and love giving a lot of them as gifts. Dick heppnerguy
  24. Nice pattern and you did a swell job cutting it. I like all the veins in it. It sure makes it stand out well. I am an Oregonian by birth and I was actually born in Tillamook but grew up in the Portland area. I currently have a cousin that lives in Florence. Keep up the good work. Dick heppnerguy
  25. a good pattern. I like the size of the wood you put it on too. Nice recognizable pattern. Dick heppnerguy
