  1. Steve, right now I am just learning the machine. Dick heppnerguy
  2. Here is another piece that I just went out to the shop and cut. I am not putting these in the bragging tab because I am only practicing and really not interested in making keeper pieces. These are just going into the garbage so I am not concerned with finishing any of them. What i am discovering from this about the saw is that it works quite well with thin wood. I have not tried anything thicker a Than 1/16 inch BB PLY so far. I am going to give it a test on 1/2 inch next and then see how it does with that. It does not have a very powerful motor in it so we will see how it performs on some of that. The saw might be good for ornaments and small projects. So far I like it pretty well for them Dick heppnerguy
  3. As I promised, Randy, I am posting some of the work that I have made on the free Proxxon saw that he gave to me. So here it is. A small pattern I made just to give this new saw a try. From beginning to end I have found that I am rapidly becoming familiar with this saw and the more familiar I am with it the more I think I could even enjoy using it for some pattern cutting. It might be good for Christmas ornaments and small things like that. I will continue to try different things and keep you posted as to the results of my efforts. I am enjoying this new learning experience so far. Dick heppnerguy
  4. Some of my plans changed this weekend and I was able to do some cutting on the Proxxon saw that was so generously sent to me for free by Randy. HWhen I got the box, I was surprised at how small this saw really was. I assembled it last night and my first thought was,"This is going to be a fun one for blade changes." I was beginning to think I needed to be a contortionist just to do something as easy as that should be. I did a couple of cuts last night on it and came into the house thinking that I would be passing this one on very quickly, but part of the deal was that I had agreed to cut on it for a minimum of Two hours, and I am a man of my word, or at least I try to be, so this morning I went back to the shop and finished cutting the little pattern I had started last night. To my surprise I found that I was able to change my blades between cuts quite easily and I did not need to be a contortionist after all it went much better as time went along. I found I was actually starting to enjoy this new machine already I thought I would post some of the things I liked and disliked about the saw so....... Dislikes The blower is useless I would not wish to cut anything thick on it You need to use it only for small patterns I could not get the spiral blade to even cut on it The initial blade changing sucks but from cut to cut it is working out well Likes It does allow a smooth and easy cutting experience, once you remove the hold down foot It does not vibrate if you bolt it down It could be easily transported if you wished to do some light work away from home So far that is my take on it. I still have to put more time on it to give a good review. Getting familiar with it is my first priority. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Makes me want to go back into my old saw once again and refresh my mind as to what exactly is wrong with it. Thanks for your post Kiven Dick heppnerguy
  6. I also believe that it is that badge for the sheriffs dept. I am thinking that the deputies wear the same shaped badges. You may be right. I am often mistaken about this kind of thing. I will find out for sure though. Dick heppnerguy
  7. I just believe that this says everything that really needs to be said. Because of that I think most people do in fact like them. Thanks for the nice comments. Dick heppnerguy
  8. Sorry for the double post. I tried to delete this but could not Dick heppnerguy
  9. Kevin, Somehow this post got made twice. One with the photo and later one without the photo. If you look you will see the a different post with the same name that ha the photo. Thanks for the heads up. I tried to go back and delete this one without success. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Cliff, I like it just the way it is. I also like the natural non finished applied look, due to the material it is cut on. I would give it to the party who ordered it. I would place a bet that they will be amazed and pleased with it just the way it is. If you feel a little bad about the outcome of your work here, due to the breakage, you might gift them another piece at a later date as a "thank you" for their previous order Dick heppnerguy
  11. Nice piece. is it a Steve Good pattern? I don't remember seeing it before I think I would also like to make one too Dick heppnerguy
  12. Joe, You are the wooden vase guy, for sure. Nice work. I love your experimenting with design modification and use of the clay. Things are looking great Dick heppnerguy
  13. Wow. Coolest sleigh I can remember seeing. You did a fabulous job on it. Very very nice Dick heppnerguy
  14. When ever we have a funeral in our community, I try to help heal the heavy heart by making one of these plaques and giving it to a family member. I believe it to be a comfort for them and they are always appreciate getting them. Another in out community lost an uncle of theirs so today we will be giving this along with a card. I have made manny of them and given them away. Dick heppnerguy

  16. I saw this one on Steve Good's page and with all the police shooting going on around our country decided to cut this and take it to our sheriff's office today to show my support for all they do for us. It is a really easy pattern to cut, so if you feel like showing your support for your local police , this seems like a great way to do it Dick heppnerguy
  17. When one is starting out on a new venture I believe it is wise to not try too much too soon. Start with the easier things until you are comfortable with them and then push the envelope a little. Eventually you will be getting into something you really didn't think you were capable of doing. Jumping way ahead too fast can be discouraging and make one feel defeated. Take your time and have fun, that is what it is all about anyway Dick heppnerguy
  18. Randy, The saw arrived today I will be leaving for a few days but when I get home I will unpack it and give it an honest shot. I will make a few items and post them. I will follow up with a written review of the saw, including what I like about it and what I do not. After an honest effort I will make a decision on whether I will want to keep it or offer it to another SSV family member. Thank you again for your generosity. Maybe some day there will be something I can do for you you Dick heppnerguy
  19. Jim Finn is not only the most experience inlay person on the planet but he is also an extremely Nice fellow who is always willing to share his vast knowledge. We are all very lucky to have him in our world wide family. Dave monk is a relatively new scroller but does wonderful work and has proven to be a fast learner. Dave also shares his expertise willingly with anyone asking. I have a lot of respect and admiration for both of them. It is people like both of them that makes this place such a wonderful place to come to on a regular basis Dick heppnerguy
  20. I really like your windmill, Helmut. It is truly a piece that will catch the attention of everyone that sees it. Did you design the pattern yourself? It would be a fun piece to make. If it is your pattern, are you going to post it in the pattern library? Dick heppnerguy
  21. Spirals are not for every piece of scrolling pattern, in my opinion but I also agree that they are certainly worth an effort to learn for when they come in handiest. Keep up your good efforts. Thanks for your comments. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Kevin. I did exactly that.. I had no breakage while cutting this pattern. A good point and reminder,, thanks for the suggestion Dick heppnerguy
  23. One ot the things that I most like about scrolling is, I often am puzzled when it comes to finding a gift for my wife. Scrolling allows me to gift her often and she seems to love my work, or at least she makes me feel that she does, as she has many of my pieces decorating our house. My daughter often walks out of our house with a piece of wood art off our walls. Now that I have finally gotten her into scrolling, I think I will not have that problem any longer. Dick heppnerguy
  24. I made a dream catcher pattern from a tutorial that I watched, I am thinking it was one that Travis made but I could be wrong. I may have been a Steve Good Tutorial. I still have not cut one but yours is certainly first class and my entice me to go ahead and cut one too. That is one of the things I like about looking at posts, they not only are intersting as well as fun to look at but they also often inspire someone to cut something they may have otherwise decided against. This piece challenges me Dick heppnerguy
  25. The one thing that I have learned using the spirals is, cutting the small stuff, (that could break rather easily with a flat blade)., seems to be no problem with the dreaded spiral blade. It is one of the reasons I want to get comfortable with them. Dick heppnerguy
