  1. I believe a frame adds a lot to a piece. I don't, however, think a separate picture type frame is always necessarily. Some pieces are great with just a backer board extended a 1/2 inch all the way around and painted or stained works quite well. It is a matter of preference. I also believe a pattern without any frame or extended backer board is not usually a very good idea as it needs some kind of contrast. The exception might be something that has a lot of fret work and itself can stand alone, sometimes. Dick heppnerguy
  2. That is the play I am hoping for. Dick heppnerguy

  6. I didn't think the pattern was designed for that many characters. I still do not. Never the less, I was able to get what the customer insisted on, in the project Dick heppnerguy
  7. The color requests is that of the customer and that is all we can consider when doing a request Dick heppnerguy
  8. I had this in mind right after I mailed it. I hope to be able to remember that should I be cutting another one some day. Dick heppnerguy
  9. Thank you. I really enjoy Sue Mey patterns because they are all so nice and usually mixed in with some small challenges. A perfect combination for me. Dick heppnerguy

  11. Thanks. It must be the great blades you sell me. Dick heppnerguy
  12. This was a request from my cousin for her new granddaughter. I did not think I would be able to get all the name letters she wanted on this pattern but she would not take no for answer. I had no recourse's but to give it a try and hope I would be able to get it all in place and be able to cut it all. As you can see, I was forced to not leave any gap between a couple of the letters so I was not sure I would not have a breakout as a result. I held my breath, said a prayer and BINGO, I was able to get it all done. I would have preferred a blue or pink background for a baby cross, depending on the sex of the new born, but my cousin wanted it to be black, so I complied with my customer and made it as demanded. I am ok with this pattern, except I find it rather difficult to find a package to mail it in because it is so broad. Dick heppnerguy

  18. but you do your cutting with such skill that the pattern maker has to be very pleased, not only that you choose his or her pattern to cut, but that you make the pattern even better because of the time and skill your put into it. Dick heppnerguy
  19. That is true. If I can do it, anyone can. Dick heppnerguy
  20. I am happy to say that the wife was the one that choose the pattern and she is pleased with it. How can I loose with that going for me? Dick heppnerguy
  21. Oh oh. Now you know how much better it could be. The one advantage I have, is my family only sees what I make and have no one else to compare my work to. Dick heppnerguy
  22. You should, Don. I am confident you would enjoy intarsia as your projects are always so well done. This is a very easy one to start intarsia on. Not really that difficult to do. I say, if I can do it, anyone can. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Marg, did you ever make the dolphin intarsia pattern I sent to you a couple of years ago. I know you would do very well with intarsia if you gave it a chance. Thanks for you nice comment on my newest project. Dick heppnerguy
  24. I appreciate your comments. I try to do my best, but my best is a long stretch from the talents of so many people doing intarsia and scrolling. I love my shop time and being able to even come close to my goal every once in awhile, when I start a new piece. Dick heppnerguy
  25. From a woodworker with your talent, I am sure you can see a lot of changes you would do if you were to make this pattern but I appreciate the pat on the back from you, anyway. Dick heppnerguy
