  1. It had nothing to do with how I painted it so I just grabbed a couple of spray cans and let it happen. I agree with you Marg and usually I do us the darker color on my backer board. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I spent too much time doing a simple pattern? I guess I still have a lot to learn, huh? Dick heppnerguy
  3. It wasn't about the finished item.. it was about a test of the scrap wood I had gotten. Not something I was interested in ever keeping.. not worth the touching up.. I knew when I painted it that that it would not turn out very well, not letting the paint dry Dick heppnerguy
  4. it was simple.....like me, Paul. Dick heppnerguy
  5. hey hey. Because I live in Arizona, does not mean I only sell items in Arizona. In fact I have a lot of my items in Germany and even in Japan.. I do get around some... Dick heppnerguy
  6. I have yet to colorize a project and ended up glad I did it. Dick heppnerguy

  8. I am considering making a kit and seeing what interest it brings. There are a lot of them still around in Eastern Oregon on some of the old family farms. Fun to find out. Dick heppnerguy

  12. It does and it is super easy to cut and assemble Dick heppnerguy
  13. I am Kicking around the idea of cutting them and selling some as a kit for the buyer to assemble. 1. it would give the buyer, who might like them and isnt a scroller to take on a fun task. 2. It might be seen as a rather fun little gift 3. It would make shipping easy and inexpensive for me. 4. The cost would be super inexpensive for me too. Dick heppnerguy
  14. I know and I believe that as well. However it was only to race myself and to see it the free wood I got was worth using in future project. I had no interest in keeping it before I started it so it was all for fun and timing Dick heppnerguy
  15. Not going to add any color at this time. I think if I was going to add color I would have done so before I put it all together. why don't you build one and use color and post it so I might have an idea on how to do it? Dick heppnerguy
  16. Here is a little project I saw on Steve Good's site last week and decided to give it a try. I am in the process of making a neighbor one of the combines like I made during Christmas last year. I thought it would be fun to give my neighbor a windmill along with the combine to kind of set it off, as it is a farm thing too. It was a fun little project and I will most likely make a few more as I have a lot of country family folks in my family. I know they would probably like one also. It is an easy and fun project to make . This one I made with BB Ply. Dick heppnerguy
  17. I saw the little word patterns that Steve Good put on his page and I thought it would be fun to see how fast I could cut it. I was bored so I printed the pattern out and went to work on it. I was not concerned about how well it was going to come out but I had some old wood given to me that my neighbor had in their garbage so planed it down and decided to see how it cut. It is 1/4 inch thick and was very rough and had a lot of paint on it. I found it easy to cut and so away I went. Due to the fact that it was not something I was going to keep or even wanted to, I got to work on it. It took me 8 minutes to cut the words and 6 minutes to cut the backer board and about one minute to spray both pieces. I had to wait about 20 minutes for the paint to dry and then I glued it and set it face down under a board and put an 8 pound weight on it for a clamp. When I took the clamp off an hour later I found out it had stuck to the paper I had it laying on and the results was ugly as part of the paper stuck to the paint that was not quite dry. Moral of story is. don't get into a rush because it is not how fast one does a project but how well. I had fun timing myself and the wood cut nicely and it was free. plus I was not interested in keeping it when I finished. I had fun challenging myself and finding out the wood will work well for some simple projects in the future. Dick heppnerguy
  18. Looks like you have that Dewalt working away. Happy you decided to join up with us. Hope you drop in often. Welcome from Southern Arizona.\ Dick heppnerguy
  19. Welcome Randy. Happy to have you on board with all of us. log on often so we all can get to know each other better. Make comments on other people's post and post some of your work so we can see what sort of items you enjoy. If you have any questions about scrolling, just go ahead and ask. There is so much knowledge here and everyone seems to enjoy passing on the wisdom they have to others. So, from Southern Arizona....WELCOME Dick heppnerguy
  20. I would like to welcome you to our world wide family too. We are all very happy when someone new chooses us at a site to join with. You mentioned that you make things out of wood but you did not mention what sort of things you make. I would like to suggest that you elaborate on it a little so we all can understand exactly what it is you do with wood. Because you joined up here, I would think that at least some of it must have to do with scrolling. I hope you do to the 'Bragging Rights' forum and post some of your work you have done. Hope to see you around often and take your time and look around the entire Village as there are a lot of things to see here. Welcome to you again from Phoenix Arizona. Dick heppnerguy
  21. It may be an item that people love looking at but it still has not caught up enough to spend their money. You probably have so many other things to offer perspective buyers in your booth that they go for the more detailed items to buy. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Another great project. I love how you always put some extra fret detail that others might leave out so that your patterns always have a little added challenge in them that makes one pay attention to detail should they have the opportunity to cut one of them. Dick heppnerguy
  23. outstanding. That goes for the workmanship, cutting the pattern, finishing and the super end project. There is no way you are going to be able to wait until Christmas to give this to him. Dick heppnerguy
  24. the gnomes are so cute. I guess I am going to have to give in and make a couple of them too. Your work always rattles my cage to 'get with it' Dick heppnerguy
  25. love your name puzzles. And you painting is a perfect compliment to it. Dick heppnerguy
