  2. Beautifully done. It looks really nice Dick heppnerguy
  3. Great job. I too like the blue background. It seems to really help the fish pop. Nice project all the way Dick heppnerguy
  4. Nice looking projects. The usual great job from you. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Well I have to say, After not cutting for a year, you certainly have not lost your touch. Nicely done Dick heppnerguy
  6. Dave, as you know, I always look forward to see what new creation you have made. I sure wish I had just a little of your talent, but what is important is that you have it and it inspires me to try to do a little better every time I see another of your projects Dick heppnerguy
  7. I am not sure about your comment about the spiral blade on thin cuts. If you mean using it instead of the flat or using the spiral after the cut. I am not sure how much spiral you have cut but most people have a lot of problem using the spiral as the primary blade. It takes some practice to get the feel of the spiral but well worth the effort to learn, especially if you get into patterns with a lot of really small holes, then the spiral often with save you from breaking of some pieces that the flat blades often can do in a tight turn. One thing some people do on really narrow cuts where the straight blade doesn't allow the opening to be seen very well on a finished project, is to make the cut with the narrow opening with the straight blade, followed by using a spiral down the same cut to widen it. The spiral will want to follow the previous cut and widen it so it can be seen easier. That said, you will find the Pagas blades to be sharper than most other blades and may seem a little too aggressive at first. After you get used to them and learn the feel and ease of how they cut, you may really enjoy them. Dick heppnerguy
  8. One question for you. What is the thickness of the wood you are using to cut the fish and what blade and blade size did you use? Dick heppnerguy
  9. Those are very cute indeed. I love them Dick heppnerguy
  10. Barb, those are so cute. They should sell quite well for you. Dick heppnerguy
  11. You have become an amazing scroller. Everything I have seen from you is really well done. The Osmo is something I have never heard of. I am going to try to google it and see what I can find out about it. Dick heppnerguy
  12. you have been in that shop of yours quite a bit lately and I can see you are paying attention to what it is you are cutting. Everything looks like it came out perfectly Dick heppnerguy
  13. I am quite impressed with your quick improvements in your cutting. It appears you are able to stay on your cutting lines quite well. Once you feel you are really happy with your cutting, then is the time to step to a pattern that you would like to cut but maybe have been a little afraid and feeling it is too difficult. Perhaps then you might give that scary one a try. Remember though, it is a good idea to slow down even more as you feel out the new pattern cutting process. You should have little trouble as you progress as long as you do it in steps, so to speak Dick heppnerguy
  14. Welcome from Arizona where it is still hot and sunny every day. Glad you choose to join us here in THE VILLAGE. Hope to see you around here often. Your work is quite nice. please continue to post them as you go along Dick heppnerguy
  15. Thank you so much Keefie, I appreciate your nice compliment. Dick heppnerguy
  16. Oh I am so comforted by your response. I never try to put anyone down for anything I don't agree with them on. I would rather forgo a comment than cause a problem. I sometimes do not express myself very well and my remarks can be taken wrongly. thank you for your understanding. Like you, I too cherish the friendship and sharing on this site and the people's willingness to help others. If I do not like something someone posts, I may push the 'like' button but I just pass on making a comment. You are the best. Dick heppnerguy
  17. I hope you did not take my remarks as any kind of a put down. I understand that everyone has different types of items they enjoy cutting and some that do not even interest them. I am way too one sided on my thoughts about what I want to cut and what I see as something that does not even interest me to consider. I was just trying to encourage yourself to give it a try as it sounded like you liked the fret but didn't like the idea that you may not succeed or that it was just to long of a time to invest in doing it. I was really only trying to encourage you to give it a try, as I knew you were capable of doing it. Please forgive me, if you saw this as a criticism as that was never my idea. I love your work and cherish the friendships of the people here in the Village, you included. Once more I apologize for my poor way I appeared to come across in my note to you. Dick heppnerguy
  18. I have not had very much time in my shop or on my computer lately and missed your introduction post. So let my Welcome you to SCROLLSAW VILLAGE. I see you have been pretty active already and are probably feeling pretty comfortable here already, as we all get to know you better. Explore all the forums so you don't miss anything here, if you have not done it so far. Continue to keep in touch often here and continue to enjoy your scroll saw. Dick heppnerguy
  19. You may or may not know the city I lived in. It is quite small and south of Hermiston. It is called Heppner. I moved to Arizona 5 years ago and really enjoy living here in Casa Grande. Happy to have you on our web sight. Hope you log on often. You may enjoy checking out the other forums in Scrollsaw Village as there are a lot of interesting things to see. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Thank you sir. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to figure out how large to cut them. The end results were OK but probably not perfect. However, my son, who requested it, has no others to compare it with, so he will imagine it to be perfect anyway, making me feel good anyway. Dick heppnerguy
  21. I love this pattern. So darn cute. Is this your own pattern? Dick heppnerguy
  22. Thank you Dave. I am kind of pleased with the outcome, myself. It wasn't all that long ago that I would have passed up the patterns with a lot of fret but now I find myself looking for that type of pattern Dick heppnerguy
  23. I don't know that is amazing but I do know I get a lot of self satisfaction out of cutting fret work, now days. Dick heppnerguy
  24. That is why I can do this....you see I am a regular nut case and old and cantankerous too. So I guess being insane is just how I live. Dick heppnerguy
  25. It is a rather challenging pattern for me but that is what I like about scrolling. One can choose to challenge themselves anytime they desire to do so. Sometimes it is having stayed away from a new form of scrolling because it is a little scary for you. Followed by, 'if I try it an fail, I will have to just try again later'. If you do not wish to challenge yourself to spend that much time, then let my challenge you to cut this for your aunt. It is a long time before Christmas and if you started the pattern now and only worked on it for 30 minutes, each time you sat at your saw, you would easily have it done before Christmas and not even had a chance to get tired of threading the blade into all those little holes. Go for it...you can do it. Dick heppnerguy
