I would like to make a suggestion that will eliminate your problem with wood pealing. I put my patterns on my boards like this.... 1.first I sand the board with 220 grit paper until it is smooth to the touch. 2. then i remove all the saw dust with a dampened paper towel until no sawdust is left 3. next I spray the back of my pattern with a spray adhesive and let it set for a minimum of 3 minutes. 4. I apply the pattern to the wood and rub it down to make sure it has no air bubbles in it and everything is adhered. 5. after i am finished sawing my project I rub a paper towel dampened with Mineral Spirits, making sure all surfaces are damp and let it set for about a minute. 6. The pattern almost falls off all by itself 7. I use a paper towel, again dampened in Mineral Spirits over the cut pattern to make sure all adhesive is removed 8. wait a few minutes to make sure the surface is dry, then I can finish it. 9. I do not use any tape under or over the pattern and following what I just told you, i do not have any pattern lift when I cut nor wood grain lift when I remove the pattern from the finished project I hope you give this a try. any questions just ask me. That is an amazing compliment you gave me. I have come to really enjoy fret work a lot more in the past year and sometimes I doubt myself but I continue to give them a try. I do not always post them because I am too anxious to get them to the person who orders them and forget to photograph them first so I can share my work here. What a great pattern. It looks so fierce. I love cutting the ones with a lot of fret holes. They are so were the effort and time as you have proven once more in your beautifully cut project here. I have it on my list but not sure if I will ever get to it. So many to cut. Dick heppnerguy

I do remember the Clock Tower. Some items look so terrifying at first but when one thinks of them as 'one hole at a time' , it becomes easier to do. That was how I felt when I started to cut this one and then as I got part of the way through it, it was not nearly as difficult as I thought it was going to be. Dick heppnerguy

A nice easy pattern that would be a fun one for people who are starting out in scrolling. I enjoyed your video again. Your project turned out very well and adding the color to the sky was a perfect idea. Dick heppnerguy

I wish I lived by you. I would love to visit with you and see 'Your Wall'. I just spent about 4 hours with Scrappile,(Paul) in Washington State and enjoyed another great time with him. I am so glad we were able to get together about 7 years ago and become good friends. You keep up the great work. I have been enjoying your posts for some time now. I used flying Dutchman #3. My memory is not so sharp any more so I can't remember what the blade is called, but it is a double tooth blade. It is a slower cutting blade than the normal #3 so I found it to bey go to blade when cutting fret projects in 1/8th in BB Ply, . I don't really count the holes in a fret piece as that does not interest me enough to do so. I know there are 50 holes in every feather plus if I remember correctly anther 7 in each of the very outside added piece at the outside end of each feather. Then the two body pieces have several of cuts to them. Dick heppnerguy

It is one happy family here.. The regulars change once in awhile and then sometimes after awhile they return. sometimes we have one of them pass away and that hurts everyone here and they are missed by all. I have made the effort to meet some of the individuals here in The Village and have made some really great new friends as a result. I made an appointment with Travis Cook who started and continues to run this wonderful site and he told me, at the time, I was the first person on the site that he met personally. So happy you are here. We love seeing our family grow and it is always fun to see how others are doing. One nice thing about the people here is they all remember that they had their first time at the saw and often were in awe at the works they saw others doing. I have been scrolling since about 2014 and still I am only a mediocre scroller, but that is ok with me, as I enjoy the hobby a lot and have some of my work in Europe as well as Japan. So hang in there and continue cutting away and most of all have fun with what you do. Dick heppnerguy

Eric, I started making patterns a few years ago and I was surprisingly pleased with the results on some and no much on others. The secret to getting exactly what you want is like learning to scroll...the more you do it the more natural it becomes. I set my pattern making aside and have never gone back to trying them again. Wood portrait patterns are my favorite and I have done several of them and with some pretty good results, I think but it takes me along time to make them, only because I have not taken the time to do enough of them on a continual basis. So that said, I know it is completely my own lack of taking time to learn that process, that I am not a portrait pattern maker today. Only myself to blame. Stay at it. make another pattern tomorrow and see if it comes out as well as this one. Dick heppnerguy

Not a Star Wars or Fantasy film lover but I should have to say, you did another great job with this project. I should probably get out of my shell and cut some of this kind of pattern because so many people love them. I am missing the boat living in only what I like to cut. Dick heppnerguy

Looks really great.. Maybe you should spend your winters back in Southern Arizona then you could come and use my shop and crank out the project and golf every day.. we get almost no rain. Dick heppnerguy

That does look so cool. I NEED to start cutting some of your great patterns like this one. I have quite a few downloaded but somehow don't seem to get to them. My wife feels like I spend too much of my time in my shop so I try to spend more time with her and try to keep her happy. Dick heppnerguy

I sort of have a little sentiments about this bus do to the fact that I worked with them. I always thought it was a rather interesting design and kind of miss them when they were no longer used. Dick heppnerguy
