  1. Just finished these two projects for my Son's Archery customer. The customer saw the projects that I gave my son for his Archery Shop & wanted to ask about purchasing them. So, we made them for him & he agreed on the price too. So, word of mouth does work. The one with Gone Fish'n on it is 1/4 in. bbirch ply with some barn wood for frame & the other of a portrait of an Archery great by the name of Fred Bear. It's done also with 1/4 in. bbirch also & a barn wood frame. They are both backed with a foam backer. The only thing that isn't on the portrait yet, is arrows on each side of frame. They will be added later. Hope you like them.
  2. Wonderful job Jay. I know what you mean when you say, it's takes a long time. I really like the walnut & the frame is neat. What thickness is the Walnut? I can never find any around here, regardless of thickness. Just not available. You can be proud of this accomplishment. Thanks
  3. Thanks again everyone. It sure is nice to have all the input from you members. I don't do my cuttings as a business, so I don't stack cut, unless for some reason I need more than one. I don't like to do a production line type work. Most of my pieces are done it a more detail way. I'm kind of particular that way. I don't rent a space for my goods to sell either. Just enjoy doing my scrolling & I don't like doing a personal portrait without pay up front. I learned that early on while learning scrolling portraits. I do most of my pieces on request & don't set up a swap table to sell items. Thanks everyone & have a good day.
  4. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all your input. I don't usually sell projects like this at a show, so I would not need to stack cut an item like this one. It was a request & don't have anyone else interested in something like this. I don't advertise either, except by word of mouth. If I had an outlet for these types of items, I would go ahead & stack cut & sell them cheaper. I have a strong belief in talent & the fact that you can't go to a store to buy these things. Thank you again & have a good day.
  5. His Bird is factory pink & that is why I did it the way I did. I didn't want it to be a bright color. It would take away from the total picture. I have done this type of coloring on other pieces that I have done. Maybe I'm asking too much for a friend to pay, but, I don't want others to think that I can do it for a lower price. I sure do appreciate your input & suggestions. I will have to consider it all when I tell him the price. He hasn't asked about it yet. My wife suggested maybe just deducting it from his carpenters pay, for doing some work on our house. Haven't thought about that. Thanks again.
  6. Bonaker, The idea of critique is OK, and for peoples opinion as to what could be done to improve. We all have different opinions on everything. That's one of the reasons for shopping. I just put an item on General scrollsawing for other scrollers ideas on pricing of a project. I asked for suggestions & ideas as well. I think we all need some critique at one time or another. We learn every day for a lifetime. Thanks for listening.
  7. Just finished a project for a friend & haven't sold something like this before. Just wondering what some of you would think of my price for this item. It is a 1/4 in. bb ply, 8x10 in. of his '59 T-Bird. My friend wanted to purchase his own frame. I thought I would ask $ 50.00 for it as it is without the frame. I didn't spend a lot of time on it, but, need to consider the fact that no-one can buy these just anywhere. I would charge more for the same item if someone other than a friend would order it. Thanks for any suggestions or other advice that you might have for me to consider.
  8. Great job ! I love old west subjects. My favorite, & then there is wildlife next to that. You do very nice work. Thanks for letting us look. Be proud.
  9. You can be very proud of your work. It is very well done & looks professional. You certainly have talent & very good taste in subjects. Thanks for letting us view your excellent work.
  10. Really nice sleds, Smitty. Can I ask what size they are?, or do you make them to fit the customer? I think you have a great idea there with those sleds. Nice work & good luck with your storage problem. Thanks for a great idea & the view.
  11. Beautiful job Ralph. I really like it. I think I would add a stand or hang it. I did one similar & framed it. Yours really looks nice. Thanks
  12. You should not have any problem selling those. They look real nice. I like to change colors sometimes too. Looks great. Nice work. Thanks.
  13. Those really are great ! You did a fine job on them all. Yes, those old shows are a lot better than the stuff they show today. I get several old shows on Netflix & hulu plus. Most on Hulu. Like Ironside, Big Valley, Bonanza, Alias Smith & Jones, Happy Days etc. I can't believe all that are there. It's just tiresome to see the same old stuff all the time. We got rid of Satellite TV some time ago. It's cheaper too. Thanks for letting us look.
  14. Thanks everyone, you are too kind. I enjoy doing portraits & just wanted to do a different one of the Duke. Thanks again.
  15. I just finished cutting this double of John Wayne. I wanted one that is a little bigger in size. It's 15 x 12 on 1/8 in. ply. I have done one of Rooster Cogburn before. Haven't decided on a frame for them yet, but, will probably make them myself. I coated it with Tongue oil & stain on the vest. The back is of black foam board. Thanks for looking
  16. Looks great ! I like the wildlife. The frame looks like it's in good shape, so that was a plus. Thanks
  17. That's a beautiful ring. You did fine with it. I was wondering how you applied the ring to the wood. I made one of cherry wood once & I cut the center with a forstner bit. It was just luck that it was the right size. It did cut a perfect circle though, HA I inserted a ruby stone in it & my wife wears it for conversation. She likes it. Thanks for your fine work & look forward to see more.
  18. Paul, that is one beautiful cutting. I really like the pattern & I did a couple of them for myself, but, I used acrylic with a wood base. I'll see if I can find the pic of it & put it on here, for you to see how the acrylic looks. I love the pattern, & your cutting is real nice. What size did you make it? It looks rather tall. Thanks
  19. Well, I guess I'm guilty. I have taken a photo of someone on the internet, made a pattern of my own & cut it from a nice piece of BBirch plywood & given it to a friend or relative. See you through the bars !!!!
  20. Thank you so much, everyone. I will post a different pic that is much better for viewing. I usually make sure it is a good photo before posting. To big a hurry I guess. Thanks Again to all.
  21. I'm not sure where I got the pattern, but, it really caught my eye. I decided to do a stack cut, since there were a lot of cuts. I thought I might just as well have three of them since I was going to be doing a lot of cutting. Not sure if I will use the frame that I have this one in, but, looked good for posting. I promised one to a friend, so have two left. I did them in 1/4 in. ply, with a foam backer board. The picture is a little dark, so hope you like it. Thanks
  22. Looks real nice Kris. I enjoy those kinds of pic's & especially the Peanuts gang. Real nice cutting & pattern. Thanks
  23. Just finished a simple clock for the coffee shop I go to now & then. Their clock stopped, so I suggested making one for them & they liked the idea. So, this is it. I used a round pine wood for the donut & topped it with acrylic for frosting. Painted the brown & interior of the clock. Just simple for a time piece. Thanks.
  24. That is a beautiful cutting & a lasting family heirloom. They will love having that in their possession for years to come. Nice cutting. Well done. Thanks
  25. WOW, only 3 hrs. to do all those ! It would take me that long just to clean up the edges. I really like the last one. I have done a few like that. Looks great. Thanks
