  1. Ha, I just did one and it went smooth as silk... except it wouldn't let me save it as a jpg file when done... I finally got it to a pdf file which words fine, but it seem like I use to be able to save things a jpg files... I recently updated to a new version of Inkscape for Mac and it seem to have minor changes.
  2. I have been converting patterns in inkscape to gray fill/black line. I have done it many times and I still haven't figured it out... I just keep stumbling around until I finally get it done.... ! I have always succeeded but sometimes it take many tries, even though I think a did exactly what I had done before, that worked...
  3. Very nice piece...
  4. Check out Cherokee Woodworking Product, under woodworking supplies then scrollsaw wood.... They have it in 1/8" what ever length you require, May have to glue two board together to get 12"wide. I have always gotten great service and produce from them. Worth calling and talking to them. @Rockytime here are the pictures you were trying to open, converted to jpeg. Going to be a beautiful project.. finescrollsaw.com pattern #81..
  5. John, thank you for the update.... Since I started this thread, feel bad the I have not worked hard to keep this active. My problem is, so many projects in wood working I want to accomplish that it is really hard for me to focus on one and become proficient at it... Example, I have three projects currently active and finding it hard to stay focused on one to finish before I start the next,, part of getting old,,, having so many interests that you want to try,,, and you know time is running out!! Anyway, I did rejoin the Marquetry Society after I started this thread... If nothing else,, I enjoy their news letters, and it seems like they are working hard to keep the society going... You are aware there is a chapter in Washington over on the coast.... Not that horribly far from you... Also,,, When/before, this covid BS hit I made several trips to Portland a year,,, my daughter and her family live there... If we get back to normal in this country,,,, maybe we could meet somewhere between, some time and you could teach me something and let me see some of your wor, now that would be a challenge,, to teach me,,, wow... Also @Travis lives in the Vancouver area,,, I feel I owe him a lunch, but don't remember why, and I would like to pay my debt,,, it would be great if the three of us could some way meet up. Let me tell you, meeting and talking with people that have the same interests is pretty amazing.. and awesomely (that a word) fun... I have done it with @heppnerguy and @scrollingforsanity, and we keep in touch with phone calls and email... Some of my most cherished friendships.. Is the leaf marquetry from "The Wood Whisperer"? I remember watching one of his videos and he did a leaf like that.. And I rattle on,,,,, again thanks for the update.... Not sure "zoom" will work on my desktop Mac Mini, but I will look into it. May have to dig my wife's old shattered Ipad out of the garbage and use it... She will no let me touch her brand new one.. Thanks, again, John,, please keep posting about marquetry.... gets me pumped up!!
  6. Ahhh, can anyone tell me how to unzip a "zipx" file...on a Mac Mini? I am having no success.
  7. Very nice picture... I agree with you about country scenes.. My nephew brings me a big calendar with pictures of antique tractors, every Christmas. He has done it for 17 years now. Sometimes he gets a good deal and gets two for the price of one.... The second one is always (when he gets it) a girlie picture for my work shop.... Darn he didn't get that deal this year...
  8. Great cutting!!
  9. Can't see anything here to disagree with except you not feeling it is a project not worth bragging about... I would if I had made it..
  10. Hope you like it as much as I like mine... I am sure you well.. Took me a little while to get it all figured out, but now I would not part with it. There is good info in the manual....
  11. Just don't get two carried away and over do...Glad you are doing better.
  12. Way cool. great cuttig. Gator, did you buy that pattern from somewhere? If so where.... My brother-in-law and Nephew are drag racers.... always looking for things to cut for their shop..
  13. Great looking piece..
  14. Brings back fond memories... Great job!
  15. Makes my eyes wiggle....!! nice cutting!
  16. Well. I bought mine and my wife did not complain... coarse it was at the time she ordered a sewing machine the cost more than all the tools I own put together....!!
  17. very nice!!
  18. Nice work...glad to see you start out easy!!
  19. Welcome to the Village... My daughter lived in Missoula many years ago, loved to visit there... except for "malfunction junction". Do you still have that?
  20. Nope, the eyes , was my first thought.. "River of No Return", was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. First show I saw her in. 1954, I was 10. My dad insisted on going,,, I don't think my mom was too happy.... We went to a drive inn theater to see it and had to wait in a long line of cars to get in... Blocked the main street and had to get the local police to direct traffic...
  21. I did one some time ago that I wanted to paint the backer different colors as you do... I printed another copy of the pattern, cut out the spots I wanted to paint with an xacto knife, taped the pattern to the backer and painted the cut out spots.. worked get. The cut out didn't have to be exact, like following the lines on the pattern, you want some overlap anyway.. but close..
  22. Nice job... You are well on your way... You are officially one of us scroll saw addicts.
  23. I really like how you do your pictures... Very pleasant to look at. Thanks for the down load of the patterns...
  24. Very nice cutting... Does look like a challenge..
