  1. Welcome to the village. Might be worth looking through here at the write ups on saws:
  2. We are getting a little off the original purpose of this thread, however, let me add this an then I will but out. I also counter sink my holes when necessary, I also have a grinder close to my saw and every blade I use, I grind a sharp point in the top end. Takes but a second and really makes it easier to start the blade up through that hole.
  3. Personally I think that picture, because of the light wood, needs a dark background. I am not expert so test it. My little photo box came with a gray and blue back ground interchangeable. And of coarse there is a lot of personal preference in play with this like most things.
  4. You are "bottom" feeding. And you are correct about top feeding. I am a bottom feeder, also known as a Carp!! Catfish would fit also. And don't let anyone tell you you are a bad person if you bottom feed, I am a good person who happens to bottom feed..... Either way gets the wood cut. Some saws you can only bottom feed on, like the Hegner, the older Hawks, some you can do either, like the Excalibur, Seyco, King and DeWalt.
  5. Just too cute!!
  6. Nice cutting.... I think letters are the biggest challenge.
  7. Thanks, I printed the flag from a picture off the internet.
  8. This is one I have been working on. It is a pattern posted here last month by Kenny Hopkins. I thought it would be fun to do because my son has a tattoo very similar to it. I have done two versions of it. The first picture is following the pattern. Second is my modified version Comments welcome.
  9. Great cuttings, Jeff. The owls weren't that bad, huh? Can't wait to see it when you wife get through with it.
  10. I agree!
  11. Really nice. Great job.
  12. I do not see crude at all! Those are really nice. You been playing us!!
  13. Well, I am not a jewelry person, meaning I wear none, not even a wedding band, but I really like what you are doing. They are beautiful. I may have to give it a go, would really make nice gifts. I haven't looked at your tutorial yet and maybe you answer it there, but how difficult is it to determine sizing. I mean one size does not fit all, or are they pretty flexible? Thanks for sharing. Okay, read your tutorial and it answered my question. I hope your tutorial gets moved to the "Tutorials and Resources" section so it does not get lost.
  14. Welcome to the Village. Glad you are joining us.
  15. Hope it is nothing serious, something simple like "Scroll Saw Neck", I get that.
  16. Rattle can Deft lacquer for me. Semi-gloss or Satin. The bonus is the marble after the can is empty!
  17. Those are some very fine cuttings.
  18. Very nice work.
  19. Each one is beautiful.. Wonderful work.
  20. Well, I am not going to lose the box. I may end up going back to it. I got that box from Harbor Freight when i purchased a cheap set of carving tools. Never could make the carving tools carve anything nice, (must have been something wrong with them), but I have gotten quite a bit of use out of the box.
  21. Looks to me like you are well on your way. Where did you order the BB from? I am going to have to look at ordering, it is getting really difficult to find a good grade of BB locally.
  22. Ha! https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=schwibbogen&qpvt=Schwibbogen&FORM=IGRE
  23. Nice work. I did the horses some time ago. I love that pattern, yours is really nice.
  24. You certainly did a great job on both those. Perfect selection of wood also. Love that eagle, may have to look up that pattern. I have finished cutting one of Kenny's eagle patterns recently, and am struggling getting the background the way I want it.
