  1. Be patient, my man. The Hegner is a different saw. Took me a while to learn it, but for me worth every second it took. Stoney has some great mods for one also. I have the larger table top now the next is to fix the upper arm so it raises higher when the blade is released. Here is the forum where he explains the upper arm mod. I made my larger aux table top out of 1/8" masonite. Works great and easy to take off and put on. It is a great saw!
  2. No, I used a #1 FD -PS for all of it.
  3. Great cutting of a very handsome fellow.
  4. You really did a nice job on that. I like it a lot, must go get that pattern...
  5. Very well done.
  6. I have to keep returning for another look. Awesome.
  7. Great work. I really love those napkin holder.... Serviettes, had to look that up. It does sound nicer than napkin.
  8. Looks great. Nice work.
  9. Exactly! I hate to get things ready. I like to scroll. I think I should hire someone.... Can't wait to see your coins! I am going to try cutting soap stone and maybe alabaster . I have turned it on a lathe. Pretty easy. Now that I have good dust collection, I want to try to scroll it, like some pendents or something. When turned, it produces a powder like talcum. Probably not good for scroll saw bearings.
  10. Hi! I am Scrappile and I am a patternholic.....
  11. Congratulations! I just purchased that pattern a couple weeks ago. Well it was just after seeing yours posted when you first finished it. Don't know when I will get to it. You certainly did a great job. Now you need to get Charles Dearing's Lion Roar and Leopard Roar to go with the Bully.
  12. This is another Alex Fox pattern called, "Countryside". It is cut in Basswood. Just thought is was a fitting picture for bark edged basswood.
  13. Gotta say that really surprises me. I would think that would be a great place to sell. Now you know why I don't sell, what the heck do I know.
  14. Really beautiful cutting.
  15. Absolutely works of art. Beautiful!
  16. That is some great info, thanks. I do not have the soft ware they use, it seems to me that the same thing could be accomplished with Inkscape or maybe Gimp. Of coarse I do not know how to use either... But, this certainly shows the method. I think I would be using already available silhouettes off the internet. So would be a matter of gathering, resizing and centering. Maybe I am over simplifying. Not sure what kind of glue is used to place the pieces together, CA would set up to quickly, it would have to be a clear glue, which leaves epoxy,,, I hate working with epoxy!
  17. You did a great job cutting that! I want to see the finish!
  18. I really like this pattern and want to give it a try. I love the contrast between the letters and the snow flake. Job very well done!
  19. I mentioned some time ago about having a request for making a Hamsa box, (Carole Rothman design) for a pole dance instructor in Brazil> I finally finished. This was a real struggle for me, I and Cocobolo wood do not get along. But it is done. Like mention the main wood is Cocobolo, the veneer is Curly Maple. The red part of the eye is painted some other veneer and the black middle is a piece of Water Buffalo horn I turned. The last one of these I will make and the last Cocobolo I will sand. Well at least for a while. I hope it goes with her tattoo!
  20. He is a good guy, a friend, I feel great that he asked me to work with him on it. That's enough. We will have a great time doing. I was just joking on who gets it.
  21. Those are over the top. Great work! I have got to do the the "Noel" and "Holy Night" ones. Great pieces.
  22. Looks to me like you have the skills from you other post. I just hope you will be take some time and ask questions before your next upgrade.
  23. Runa, please use this forum. Before you purchase your next "upgrade" saw, ask, ask, the people here. We have all been through this. My first saw was a Craftsman that I had to get on my knees to work the setup on the lower clamp. It took two tools to change a blade. I finally made a base for the saw with a hinge so I could life it up on it's side to change blades. Now, I had this Craftsman for years. I had to keep it, my wife bought it for me for a Christmas present... And, I made some things using it. But, when I got serious about scrolling, I knew I had to get something better. There are good buys on used saws out there,,, just ask for opinions before buying. I can almost guarantee somene on this forum can give you good advice on the saw, good and bad... Again, please to not take offense, I am only trying to help... Lots of experience here... use it.
  24. A friend of mine emailed me this morning with an interesting challenge. This guy is one of the best wood turners I know. He has only been at it a few years, but an example of his skill, the first local show he showed a piece in, won best of show and most popular. It was actually a carver show but they let the local turning club join in. He specializes in segmented turning. I posted one of his project on here a while back, a tea pot and cups. He wants us to do a joint piece. I would do some blocks with inlays, he could put into a segmented piece. The attachment is a pictue of the example of what he has in mind. It is not one he did. We haven't discussed what the theme would be yet. I have not done inlay before.... this is pretty intricate stuff. I think I will spend most the winter learning and practicing inlays. But I am really excited about it. Hope it works out.... We haven't discussed who gets the piece when (if) done.
  25. Looks pretty serious to me. I really like them.
