  1. So glad to have you join us. Looking forward to seeing some of your work.
  2. I am not trying to be a wise guy here, I am trying to learn. I am a bottom feeder, always have been. I do not " bend over, stand on my head or anything like that to bottom feed. It is second nature to me. I have tried top feeding and have had no success. I most often do intricate fret work. To feed a 2/0 size blade down through a hole drilled with a #68 or #70 drill bit , against the direction of the blade teeth, through a very small zero clearance hole in the table top, is just impossible to me. Could some one please tell me how that is possible? I would love to see a video of it. Again, please, please do not take this as a wise guy being difficult. I can see the advantage to being able to top feed, but I just don't see how it is possible or feasible in the circumstances I just described. I want to but so far it has not even come close to working for me.
  3. Holy Cow!, Runa, you are doing great! You say your Ryobi " with pin end blades". Does this mean you new to you Ryobi does not take "pinless" blades? Or you just don't have pinless blades for it yet? Whatever, that is some very nice scrolling.
  4. Nope, if you go back to the original picture you posted of this painted one,,, which is so awesome, you will see, at least I did, some specks in the black background, that, to me, looked like black of night with stars. Maybe it was saw dust or lint, but I liked it. A little, little glitter would maybe give the same effect...
  5. Looks very rich and beautiful. It buffs beautiful with wax.
  6. Does look nice! What are the plans for the painted one? I vote for a framed picture, and the background black with little glitter to look like stars...
  7. Well done!
  8. Had both,,, still a carp!
  9. I love my Hegner..... The more I use it the more I love it. I serviced mine the other day. Put a drop of oil on each of the two pivot points as the book say and went back to work....
  10. From the beginning of time, scroll saws were meant to be bottom fed!
  11. Great stuff. Out of those, we have had three Airedale Terriers. If you ever want a fun, loyal, funny, entertaining, wonderful dog,,, get an Airedale Terrier! Only surpassed by a Doberman Pinscher.
  12. Glad to see you doing some scrolling. Don't want those saws to rust! I like them both. Great scrolling.
  13. Welcome to the Village. I think you will enjoy your time here. I also think there must be more members from Tennessee than any other state!
  14. Shows what I know. I always thought that cast iron was very hard ..
  15. Been looking at that as a next modification. I want to find a spring first, I'd hate to cut my stop off and then not be able to get it back together and working. How had is that frame to drill and tap? The larger table top is a great improvement.
  16. Well you can still make clock, using a decent scroll saw. http://lisaboyer.com/Claytonsite/Claytonsite1.htm http://www.woodenclocks.co.uk/ http://www.woodentimes.com/ There are lots more out there in internet land. You could probably even get one done and working,,,,, unlike me.
  17. Very nice!
  18. Humm, I like the backer you used to picture the Reaper, looks like dark of night with stars showing... Seems to go with the whole thing. What kind of paint does your wife use?
  19. I did a test like this with the blue painters tape and had the same results. Made me sort of a believer in the tape acting somewhat as a lubricant.
  20. Actually I think it looks farther in the picture. The piece of Masonite I used was what I had originally set up for my Excalibur when I had it. That is why there are two unused holes at the front corners. But it is no farther from the blade to the front of the table than an Excalibur is.
  21. We even have got to talking firearms I have that I might trade for it.... This guy is a carver, I'd love to visit with him.
  22. Oh, I am in driving distance, just a nice day trip, but I just do not need another saw, nor do I have room. The seller and I have emailed back and forth many times, I feel we are friends now,, but I just do not have a big enough work shop. We have had a great time discussing things I have to trade. It will be for sale a while, scrolling in not a big thing in the NW...
  23. Holy Molly, Just when I thought there could be no improvement, you raise the bar way over my head! The painting is super!
  24. Hotshot which one are you referring to?
  25. There have been some very awesome pieces done here. Great stuff. Thanks for starting this Travis.
