  1. Nice work, always enjoy reading the "trials and tribulations" of Amazing Kevin. Seem like you always come through. Need to hear more about this paint can shaker?? I think you are on to something.
  2. Good to read, I have been fascinated with the Hawk type saws for a long time. Would really like to sit at one some time. You will enjoy having two saws also. I find my self going back and forth often. I also know that the same blade works differently in each saw. Something I have to get use to. I am a very happy Hegner owner, but I also like my other saw. Like you I do the heavy stuff solely on the heftier saw though. Some Hegner owners may not know, I read in the manual, but I have never tried it, but there are two setting on the Hegner for front to back motion of the blade. I think it is more difficult to change than the Hawk. Like I said I did not study the procedure much and cannot think of a reason I would want to... Or maybe I just dreamed that. I do have weird dreams..... So glad you are happy with your saw. Iggy, have you talked to BM about replacing your saw? I would think they would want to.
  3. On my set up, which is a copy of Rolf's, the loudest thing in not the dust extractor, it is the noise of the sucking air at the saw. Not sure what the remedy is for the. There is an adjustment on my hose where you open a hole, to reduce the vacuum. I tried opening that thinking it may reduce the noise a little but the sound made at that opening was louder, it whistled! I will live with the sucking noise, it is a minor thing to put up with to not have dust everywhere. On the box fans, has anyone tried one of these: http://seyco.com/air-cleaners/ I thought they were expensive, but considering the cost of the little furnace filters, this my be cost effective. I thinking of getting one and using my box fan again in the shop just to catch some of the other dust I stir up working around in there.
  4. Well looks like it was worth the wait. Nice pattern Don did and you did a great job cutting and finishing the plaque. You are very correct, the pattern makes here deserve a big thanks.
  5. Welcome Chrisc, nice to have you join us. You got a great saw. And looks like you are good at using it.
  6. Back at it and look'n mighty good!
  7. There is no moss growing under Heppnerguy's feet. He is a man on the move. He is certainly not an old grumpy guy! Doesn't have a grumpy bone in his body. I think we should rename him "Traveling-guy". There is a song that fits this isn't there. Be assured, Dick, you are missed when you are not here.
  8. I have had great service buying Pegas blades from DnD : http://www.dndsawbladesonline.com/
  9. Great sighs. Nice work... The eagles look like fun. I did one like the leader of your formation, many years ago.
  10. Guess my link didn't work well. Here are some: http://www.woodenteddybearonline.com/x/product.php?productid=5319&cat=5&page=2 There are a couple other options at Wooden Teddy Bear. Search "lights"
  11. Hey, welcome to the forum. Hope you have a great time here and learn, share and teach. Some nice cutting you have done there.
  12. Welcome. Great to have you here. Look forward to getting to know you better.
  13. Those Schwiboggen things are really fun to make. I love them. I have purchased a few of the books. Fun to make and they get lots of oooh's, and awww's. I haven't even lighted mine up yet and people that see it love it. There is a gentleman on this forum that made patterns for them also, he has passed away, but the patterns are still available (Helmut was his name. He had some very beautiful ones). Maybe that is what you have. I purchased my patterns from http://woodyoubelieveshop.blogspot.com/p/patterns-on-cd.html
  14. If you mean empty or change the bag, I haven't yet. Only had it less than a month. Fact I haven't even looked a the bag, because I think it would take a long time to fill with just scroll saw dust. I do not have an in line separator. I may put in something like Rolf did (he posted here somewhere). It was to collect cutoff or break offs so he could retrieve a piece if he had to... I don't make those kinds of mistakes.... When I first started I rubber banded a piece of nylon sock on the nozzle to catch things other than saw dust, but it plugged up to fast. I have a Dust Deputy I bought a few years ago for my shop vac. To mount it with my shop vac and be able to move it around with it took up too much room and was cumbersome so I haven't used it. Might be worth it on this setup because I won't be moving it around. Still I like Rolf's solution better. It would be easier to retrieve a piece in his little catcher than in a 5 gallon bucket. Rolf's thread: The only problem with this set up, is it is a little flimsier than I would like. I am trying to think of ways to stiffen it up. But all in all it is 100% better than anything I have before. Well worth doing. I think your vac comes with a cloth washable bag from want I read on the internet. But I know you can buy paper or cloth bags for it. No worries, Your are going to love that Fein!
  15. That really looks nice. Puts me in the spirit. Would any of these lights have helped? http://www.woodenteddybearonline.com/x/search.php?mode=search&page=1
  16. I copied Rolf: 3/4" PVC the rubber connector that came with my Fein fits right over the PVC. You can see it hooked to the Seyco.
  17. Mine has a ring at the attachment end of the hose, the end you add attachments to. You can adjust the amount of vacuum by turning the ring, it opens a slot (hole). Not as high tech but it is there. I have never used it.
  18. I look at saw on Craigslist often. Don't know why, I do not need one. But I came across this one a day or two ago. If I have money to burn I would own it. This has the good motor, I asked Rolf. It's a beauty. It is located near Spokane, Wa. Within driving range, from you Travis...... https://spokane.craigslist.org/tls/d/rbi-hawk-scroll-saw-like-new/6283814439.html
  19. FIRST, THIS IS YOUR FIRST POST. WELCOME TO THE VILLAGE. How much do you scroll, how much do you know about scroll saws? I do not want to give you unneeded info. If you are looking at the one Hotshot in his first post, looks to be in very good shape. The only thing I see missing is the under the table dust collection piece to hook a vac to. Most people remove that, I did, didn't fit any vac I have. He also doesn't show the tool to use with the lower blade camp to install the blades in the clamp. This the tool, you should ask about it. https://www.advmachinery.com/products/tuffwrench and you would want to get one of these. Worth every penny: https://www.advmachinery.com/products/hegner-quickclamp It says $750 or OBO . I'd make an offer of around $600 ad be willing to go up a little more, but I would want to take it for a drive first. Good luck.
  20. I think you will be happy with that. Looks to be in good clean shape. Reading about it, runs at around 56 db. that is quieter than mind and I think the Festool. Good find.
  21. What Hotshot says. I think that is a bit much for an 18 yo saw. It would have to be in pristine condition. Not a "V" no not worth it. Do you have pictures?? I have a 22V and love it although it took some getting use to. Mine will be running fine long after I am gone. Hope my Daughter and grandson enjoy it.
  22. I have a Fein Turbo II. Only had it a little while, but I love it. I can only hear the noise of sucking air when scrolling. Not sure what your numbers mean, but maybe their website has info. Fein has been around for a long time, and all the ones I have seen have had the power tool trigger your speak of. Mine comes on about three second after I start the tool and runs for 15 seconds after I shut it off. I would think if the one you are looking is in good shape, it would be worth the money. I wish I had bought one years ago. The only better vac I know of is the Festool. Well from the price and their reputation, I think it must be better, but I have never actually seen one.
  23. Another Tennessee. I think there several here. Glad you joined us. There is a lot of info on this site. If you don't find an answer to a question, ask, help will be near.
  24. BRIGHT! Cheery! Well done.
  25. WOW! That is a beautiful one.
