  1. Very well cut.
  2. Very well done on the deer silhouettes. You are standing on the edge of the vortex! Once started,, it can become an obsession.
  3. Okay I will dig one up from the past, don't have time to do something new before Halloween. This one I did for another contest on a pen making forum. I did use a scroll saw on it, to cut the bats. I made this pen buy cutting strips of black drain, waste, vent pipe. I glued three strips together, scrolled the bats in it. Glued 3 more strips together and scrolled more bats in different locations. I filled the bats with a mixture of red paint/epoxy. Once it was all cured, I glued the two stacks of strips together, then cut it to the lengths I needed to make the top and bottom of the pen. Put it on the lathe and turned the two pieces. Believe me I was really surprised it turn out as good as it did. I had no idea how the bats would look. It was all an experiment and really fun to do. I won that little contest....! (I think there were about 6 people participating). My daughter stole the pen from me! still drags it out every Halloween to use.
  4. Only problem, that dust port on the Ex is normally removed right after the hold down thingy. It is/was not a good or feasible setup. I'm strongly becoming a believer that good dust collection is the best insurance. It would save the bearing, the on/off switch that is often a problem and I don't know what else. I know I am becoming one of those soapbox dust collection guys... now that I finally have it.
  5. That is really nicely done.
  6. I always enjoy pictures and info like this. Thank you.
  7. Looks of that sawdust just made me think of another possible advantage of good dust collection. Could it help with the bearing problems being discussed? Keeping that dust out of the bearings has to be a good thing. What you show here would take me at least a week!
  8. Very nice!
  9. So good to see post one of your coins again. Just yesterday I was wondering where you and your coins were. That is a real beauty. Glad you are back, look forward to seeing more of your coin art.
  10. I was curious what Ray at Seyco had to say about the bearings in a Seyco saw. The instruction manual does not address any maintenance for them. So I emailed and asked, this is his response: "Hi Paul. The bearings are classed as "permanently lubricated". My personal opinion is that is not a good classification when it comes to placing any bearing in a wood saw dust environment, however, I am not as much focused on re-greasing as I am on keeping the dust from accumulating on the bearings and in the area where they are more open to dust. Cleaning should be done some satisfactory way other than blowing with an air hose since that tends to actually blow the grease out. Use a brush or similar method is better. Let me know if there are remaining questions regarding the bearings and care for them. Thanks, Ray Seymore SEYCO, The Scroll Saw Specialists, INC." I think this would applies to the Ex and probably the the DeWalt.
  11. I'd think this would be a great venue. I know you will do well. Get out your order pad for the ones you don't have puzzles for.
  12. Let it go on "record", you are the vinyl artist! Those are some more great ones.
  13. Holy Cow! Glad you didn't say you made a lot of them. I'd still be scrolling down to see them all. Great work. "Santa Dandruff" , never heard that one before.
  14. Great work and I also like the way you framed the two pictures. "Creature from the Black Lagoon", now that is going way way back.
  15. Those are cute, great cutting.
  16. You did a great job cutting that piece. I love the pattern also. Very pretty piece of Butternut wood you used. I really found Butternut difficult to scroll because what I have of it is so soft. I also do not care for the reverse spiral, in fact the only spiral I really like to cut with is the FD 3/0 New Spiral.
  17. Although you have been busy with other things, you certainly have not lost your ability to produce beautiful pieces. It is so good to have you post again. Hope all is well.
  18. That is a lot of scrolling!
  19. That is just so neat. I love it.
  20. Very well done..
  21. I love the dream catchers, that is a great one.
  22. You just keep getting better and better! That is an awesome portrait.
  23. Really very well done.
  24. OUTSTANDING!
  25. Les, that looks like it will work good. The only differences I would have made is make it out of one solid piece, of 3/4" plywood, that way you could add some "dampening" weight if desired and I would have made it big enough that the wheels would be mounted further out beyond the stand so, more stable when moving and also could mount the foot pedal on it so it would move with the saw.... I only write this because that is essentially what I ended up with after several iterations. I also put locking wheels on mine but so far I have never locked them. What you did will probably work fine for you.. I like to tinker with things....
