  1. Beautifully done. I just received some Pegas spirals yesterday to try.
  2. The more you use it the better it gets! Congrats.
  3. Ha, made the mistake of showing this to my grandson this morning... now he thinks mine are nothing, he wants a dragon one!!!
  4. Very nice cuttings.
  5. I use a 50/50 mix of MS and BLO. to bring out the grain and when that dries I spray a few coats of Deft clear over it. I put the Deft on so it has a hard smooth finish, makes it easier to dust. just an oil finish will collect dust and it is not easy to remove. I live in a dusty area.
  6. That is a great job on that pattern. It was one of the first real detailed patterns I ever did.
  7. Baseball, not my thing, but, I know good work when I see it! Great job.
  8. Great Eagle. Will look nice displayed in the yard.
  9. Thanks all for the great input. It appears I have not done anything wrong on this piece yet, but I picked up some info here that may speed up the process a little. I hope to get time to sand it this evening, and then spray again, maybe not, family is coming to let us have our grandson and their dog for a week. This is the first time he has stayed with us without his mom and dad so it is going to be interesting. I can't wait. I'll have him shooting guns, spitting tobacco, swearing, drinking whiskey and scrolling before the week is over.... He is six and a pretty darn good little boy. Anyway thanks again for all your input. I have a lot to learn about good finishing.
  10. My first sell without even trying. I made this Second Amendment Plaque that several people here have done. Mine is not complete, I'm waiting for the finish to dry so I can assemble it. I also extended the backer board on the outside edges of each section about 1/4" and rounded the edges over. Does not show in the picture much, but it does look nice that way. Sent a picture to my son. Today he called and asked what I would want for one. We discussed it and I ended up telling him at least $100. He agreed and said he would call back. Few minutes he called back, says sold two for $125 ea + shipping. He didn't think $100 was enough and this guy can afford it. Going to a guy in New York for himself and his son. Now I have to get to work. Oh, ya, paid in advance. Also today my Nephew called and wanted to know if I could make a John Wayne picture. His boss said she would pay for one. I really don't want to get too obligated in selling because this is a hobby for me and just fun. However, this kind of sells help buy wood and supplies....
  11. Thanks Al, I have some Deft Clear, it dries about as fast. Maybe I will try it next time. I have used Krylon in the past to seal decals the color in then does not run when you put them in water. This is after printing them on a laserjet printer. Maybe I can find it.
  12. Darn making me miss doing them, I finished the patterns I had. Yours really look nice. Is that 3/4" wood? I just may have to give Iggy some more of you Social Security check..... Make some for myself to play with.
  13. Thanks, I agree.
  14. You did a awesome job of that one. Bet she was thrilled.
  15. I am finishing a little project and not real sure about finishing process. It is red oak. I stained it with Watco Danish Oil. Sprayed it with two coats, so far, with Miniwax Fast-drying Polyurethane. Here is my question. The instruction say to re-coat within 2 hours and if you can't, wait for 72 hours to apply another coat. I am assuming that if I want to sand it lightly before the final coat, I need to wait the 72 hours. Is that correct?
  16. Great job. Watch out, very easy to get hooked on these puzzle things.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Glad you are joining us.
  18. I think this would work if a person is a bottom feeder. As long as it has the tension lever at the front of the upper arm, would be my main concern. I think with the newer saw and nicer features, these older ones are going to get very cheap. There are lots of them in the northwest. I keep watching, one of these days I will see one too cheap to pass up. I keep thinking these older Hawks have done a lot of cutting without all the nice new mods that are on them now. If it was going to be my main saw, I would insist on a new one with all the new features.
  19. Gotta love those Labs..! Pretty dog.
  20. That is a bummer. I am not a good waiter either. My Seyco came while I was out of town. Sat at my brother's house for a week until I got home. Drove me crazy.
  21. A mistake I made a while back was buying a can of a loctite spray adhesive. When I go home and read the instruction, after I gave it a try, men don't read instruction before trying something and it doesn't work, it said to spray both surfaces... Now if I had read that in the store, I would not have bought it.
  22. A Goldendoodle is a Golden Retriever/Poodle mix and a Labradoodle is a Labrador/Poodle mix. And Meflick beat me to it. And she has the Golden Retriever, I have a Standard Poodle. And by the way, the Standard Poodle is not the fluff dog the AKC make them look like. They are great dogs, and were originally breed for hunting. Great hunting dog.
  23. Not my type of subject matter, but a very fine job of cutting.
  24. Really like that. Nice job, Marg.
