  1. Really some very beautiful craftsmanship. Well planned, well executed = winner!
  2. The reason I have so much sanding to do is I use a 3/0 spiral blade to cut it. Spirals do not leave as clean of a cut as flat blades. So I need to sand all the fretwork to get rid of the little "teeth" marks. I cut it out over a year ago and I take the pieces with me when I go camping and sand...... sand.... I would just do it over but I used some very nice wood to make it and I cannot waste it. I will complete it some day if I live long enough! Here is what it looks like so far. It is not glued or anything I just put it together to fit it
  3. I think you will use the orbital a lot. I sand all my wood, even the Baltic Birch before I scroll. I think if you are making things the have corners to get into the detail would be useful also. I have found the best thing for me for removing the fuzzies after cutting is a little fine wire brush the I use in my Dremel tool.
  4. That is really nice Kevin. Darn it, I may have to grab one of my wife's old records out of her antique Victrola and give it a go. Think she would ever forgive me?
  5. really like those. You did a great job on them.
  6. Very beautiful and I certain hope you will join in here infrequently and show more of your work. I have completed cutting the "Five Dragon Box" from Fine scrollsaw but have a lot of sanding yet to do on it. I also have the plans for several of his other boxes. The gentleman that has the site is great to do business with.
  7. The back of the fan sucks air, then blows air out the front. You put the filter on the back, it sucks the dust into the filter and blows out filtered air,, hopefully. It works pretty good, at least I have to clean or replace my filter fairly often. Doesn't catch everything, not full proof, but a lot better than nothing. I also use a Resp-o-rator which works real well (espically if you have a beard). The only drawbacks with it, you have to wear a nose plug which is a little uncomfortable and because you breath through you mouth, my throat get a little dry. A sip of wine er, I mean water, fixes that.
  8. Well, any fool would know that!! Actually, never gave it a thought when I bought my fan, I just lucked out and the controls were on top..
  9. Very well done! I always put a coat of something over BLO/MS, Tung , danish, or any oil finish because it makes it easier to clean, get the dust off. My go to is Deft simi-gloss because it is durable, easy to apply, dries quickly and does not change the color like other finishes.
  10. Nice scrolling and it must make you feel a little warmer, thinking Easter.
  11. Another option when buying, is look for "Refurbished" tools. I have bought several over the years, saved some money, don't remember how much, and never have had a problem with any. My DeWalt scroll saw I had was "refurbished". Never had a problem with it.
  12. Those are awfully nice. They will be very proud when they get those.
  13. You did a great job on that.
  14. Looking good!
  15. Great news. I hope you will give us updates as you proceed.
  16. I really think you did it justice! I like that particular portrait of Elvis also, when he was young and not into the silly glasses and costumes he got in to latter on. Very well done.
  17. I think Ron is giving good advice. It's old but could still be a good saw. Is that the original motor that can with those saws? Where those variable speed? If not that would be a downer. I'd like to add that to set with my modern era Excalibur if it is in good shape.
  18. What great post tops. And ya, what a beautiful car. I really miss the day when cars had real style. You had no difficulty knowing what make it was. They pretty much all look the same now days.
  19. Very nice cutting on both. I really like Dick's little giraffe.
  20. Once again a beautiful job on a piece.
  21. Really top of the line on this one. Awesome piece.
