  1. people do it with stain glass patterns also. just have to be build bridges.
  2. I guess I do not understand all the skepticism. It is a little more than the Excalibur, and had the Ex stayed in business, they may have had a price increase. This basically the same saw with what most would say are some improvements. It Ex was a great saw, many's dream machine. Why now is it way overpriced and not worth that much? The only thing I see about it that I would change is get rid of the little angle gauge or make it an add on option. That is a $30 item that I would not use, well at least very rarely. I really like the replaceable table top thingy, I think.
  3. That is very pretty. I've watched that on YouTube videos. I'd like to give it a try one day.
  4. Very beautiful box. I agree, I love to work with mahogany. Beautiful wood, easy to work with.
  5. What a beautiful box. Great work and I don't know a whole lot about planes, but that one looks like a beaut also.
  6. Very nice work.
  7. Suggestions? Like a less new wood look color.. Maybe a little grayish? I'm open, not my strong suit, finishing and such. And thanks.
  8. It is a masterpiece Tom and thank you for letting watch you build it. I had that can't do attitude when I was on a forum and a guy built a 20 note hand crank organ. He told me I could do it, so I bought the plans, but still thought it was beyond my skills. I had the plans for two years, watched others on the forum build them. Finally I decided what the heck, I can start, it is only wood, if I screw up get more wood and try again. Once I started, I became obsessed with it. Still took me 7 months to complete, but it was pretty much all I thought about for that time. I had the motto, one part at a time, when that is done and correct, do another part. Seemed like in no time I had a lot of parts, each became easier because my confidence was building right along with the parts. It was unbelievable the first time I turned the crank and music came out. Honestly brought tears to my eyes. Probably the biggest thrill in my life next to holding my new babies for the first time. Looking back, none of it was really that hard. Congratulations on your great build.
  9. Finished cutting the second half of the Heritage patterns. My apologies to Neptune, but I took the liberty of changing the pattern a little because it fit better on the board I wanted to use. With cartridges on the right it moved the sheriff to the left a little too much and things just didn't look right to me for this board. So I moved the casing to the left and while at it I made them spent casing because that is what would be ejected from a Winchester model 94, my favorite deer rifle. I bought a new one when I was 14 for $54. Still have it in my safe... This is my version. Thank you Sasho, for the great patterns. I always enjoy your and will undoubtedly be cutting more.
  10. Some great projects well done as usual. I am debating with myself as to weather to show that "Tree of Life" one to my daughter. I did a tree of life for her a while back, different pattern, but she may like this one more......
  11. After watching the video, I really, really want one I guess using a shop vac, a person would just put the sloped baffle at one end. I also wonder is a shop vac draws enough to collect the dust. I guess it would. Thanks for starting this thread.
  12. Welcome aboard, and thank you for your service to our country. My son retired from the Navy 17 months ago. Glad to have you join us here in the village. I think you will enjoy it. Nice to have another Washington member. I live over on the dry side of the state. Maybe someday we can have a "Northwest" scrollers get together...
  13. Oh, I've got to make one and just wait for the vet to request one. I can not wait!
  14. Jason, so glad to meet you. I'm Paul from Washington state. Want to learn, you say, you can to the right place....
  15. Can't remember what I was going to type...
  16. For sure don't over do. Breath lots of fresh air. Must be lots of that in Colorado Springs.
  17. That is really a nice one. I could certainly put one to good use. Sanding is such a mess. Another project.......
  18. Really looks nice Denny. Great finish also.
  19. Are you patterns paper copies or electronic? It's so inexpensive, I take my patterns I receive on paper to Office Depot for copies. Just easier than scanning them in, and playing with resizing. If I receive them electronically, I use "PosterRazer" which is free downloadable software. Not sure on it is I can just increase the size a percentage though, I'm always just increasing the size to fit a piece of wood I want to attach the pattern to. I tell it the size I want in inches.
  20. Great pattern thanks. The way that is painted, everything from from the Bones Heal on down look to me like the letters a standing out proud of the plaque. Did you add some shadowing to those letters or something. You really did a great job. Looks awesome. I'm a biker, my bikes been sitting in the garage for years with flat tires. I done have a friend that rides in a club. I may have to cut this for him....Thanks for the pattern
  21. That's great, but I an NOT going to kiss you.
  22. Well there was one left when I started this.
  23. Keep in mind, that price on E-bay does not include shipping. That can get expensive, comes from San Juan, Puerto Rico, United States.
  24. There is a gentleman on the scroll saw workshop forum that recently got an estimate on that. He was told around $200 to rewind. Miles per gallon may vary....
  25. Increase it by 75% Right? don't know the formula I divided 8 into 14 got 1.75 the one being 8" so to get it to 14 you need to go the 75% larger?? or maybe you increase by 175% percent, ya,,,no,,,,maybe. YA 175%!! I'm old, maybe my math is also.
