  1. You did a great job, Steve. That is a very tough one. I started is a long time ago and gave up. I love the pattern, guess I will have to drag is out and give it another go. Very, very well done, sir.
  2. Great cut!
  3. I'm a big Buffalo fan. The animal type anyway. Very nice piece you made.
  4. I know you would do it proud, Kevin. Great work.
  5. My favorite scrolling stocks are Cherry and maple. I like to edge glue 1/2" pieces together, route around the outside edges to make a nice edge. Kind of self framing. Jerry is right, the glue in plywood is worse on blades than the white wood glue.
  6. That really looks nice.
  7. Ha, I did not see the skeleton face until I read Dick's post and then went back and looked. I do not know how I missed it. Plan as day. That is some delicate cutting. What do you hold the coins with when cutting? Some kind of jig? Something I want to try some day. Now days I rarely have coins or any currency for that matter. Rarely even carry cash.
  8. Ah, the "Eagle", going to do the "Eagle". I'm anxious to see you cut of it. It will probably take you 1/3 the time it did me.
  9. Works at my house! Nice job.
  10. Well, you voice a valid concern and I do not see where you have offended anyone, least as far as I can see from responses do far.
  11. I am a bottom feeder. I've tried top feeding many times, but feeding a 3/0 spiral blade down through a hole drilled with a #70 bit (against the cutting direction of the teeth), just does not work for me.
  12. Ha, what I posted is a color picture. It is a real dark gray with specs in it, sorta like granite.
  13. Nice! Great finishing also.
  14. That is a beautiful piece, Dick.

Great job, all the way around. Don't put the blade in upside down,,,, huh, I still do that occasionally.
  16. I, like Randy, have a Hegner and an Ex. All he says is true. I love cutting with the Hegner, but I cannot do the portrait type work with it that I can do with the Ex. I have never successfully been able to us anything smaller than a #3 blade in mine. I have not had the Hegner long and I am sure I will figure out how to use the smaller blades on it eventually. That being said, I really enjoy cutting thicker stuff with it. It is a workhorse. And it just purrs. I know my Grandkids, even my Great Grandkids, will enjoy using it someday. For my type if scrolling I am a bottom feeder. I have not been successful feeding a #0/3 spiral blade down through a #70 drilled hole. It is going against the direction of the saw teeth and, well, I find it most difficult. I will say of all the saws I have owned, I like the Ex the best over all. Tilting table versa tilting head means nothing to me. either way works for me probably because I so rarely cut that way. The Ex is just a great machine for the type of work I am now into. Are the Hegner/Hawk worth as much more as the asking price over other saws,,,, hummm, well they are heavier built, and will out last the others, but no, if I had it to do over, I would have two Excaliburs instead of a Hegner/Excalibur set up.
  17. I really like that! Great job!
  18. That is some very nice work.
  19. Look really nice!
  20. All the Corian I have or had, was given to me by various people that had new kitchen counter tops put in. I was also able to buy a big box of it from a guy on a pen turning forum I use to frequent. I think if you went to a store that sold it you might be able to cut a deal on some scraps. Or contacted an installer. I use a Flying Dutchman's #5 Polar blade on most of this. It worked great as long as I didn't rush things.
  21. I've been wanting to try scrolling a trivet out of Corian. I use to make items out of Corian on the lathe so, why not on the scroll saw. Well I don't care much for the result of what I did but I think it was the color of the Corian I had that is disappointing to me. There was one in the scroll saw magazine that I liked. Oh well. I did it, it was a nice relaxing cut and if I ever get some other Corian in a pattern/color I like I will probably try again. I did like Bob's pattern that I used.
  22. Very nice job, Gordie.
  23. Well Mr. Jerry, I have the right to tell my experience and what I learned from it. He has the right to do what he wishes with the info. Does not make it nonsense. Not every opinion besides yours is nonsense.
  24. The sign is great and the bowl is awesome. I always enjoy seeing the bowls you post.
