  1. Some people use a little hammer or something to flatten the ends. I do not do that but some do. I use the 3/0 size which is the smallest and have experienced bending of the ends occasionally and figure it is the nature of the beast. I think it happens when tightening on the edge of the blade. You can feel it happening and if I can I loosen and re-position the blade up or down a little. Helps sometimes.
  2. Nice work!
  3. You put it in the correct category, Dick. That really looks nice.
  4. That is great! Did you stain the flesh area or is that just the way the wood coloring was. Looks neat either way. Great pattern. Very nice portrait of him.
  5. Very nice, for sure. Great team you guys make.
  6. You might call Advance Machinery and talk to them. Maybe they can get you one without the clamp or direct you to where you could get one.
  7. I had a bad experience with Valspar sometime back. When I painted the hand crank organ I built I used Valspar. The paint would not dry beyond the tacky stage. I contacted them to tell them and they said they would run tests on the lot number. I thought I would never hear from them again, but about a month later I did. They said they found a problem with that lot, and were going to recall all they could of it. Refunded my money. I had to sand it all off the organ and start over. Different brand of paint the second time. That was paint, and they did what they could to make it right. I have not used the product you have, but I would not hesitate to.
  8. Nice work!
  9. Very nicely done.

    Dad

Very wonderful work. He must be proud.
  11. Well done. I loved his music!
  12. I say get a decent saw to begin with like a DeWalt at least. If you get a junk one it may discourage you. I started years and years ago with a horrible model Craftsman (not all Craftsman saw are horrible). It was so bad I rarely used it. A few years ago I purchased a DeWalt and what a difference. I discovered I loves using a scroll saw. So much so I later upgraded to a Excalibur. Scrolling is my main woodworking now. Had I started with a better saw it would have been one of my favorite hobbies years ago.
  13. Awesome job!
  14. If you go to youtube and search "pallet" or "dismantle a pallet" there are some videos on tearing them apart. There is a tool you can make or buy that is made specifically for that purpose. It would not be hard to make one out of wood and very much worth the effort. Using one you can dismantle them without tearing the wood up.
  15. Now that is the kind of customer a person wants! You make very nice boxes, and obviously a lot of customers agree.
  16. Very well done. I wonder how the rest of the room is decorated. I like ship stuff.
  17. I agree, great job. Hope I do as well on my attempt.
  18. Great job. They will love and some bird family is going to love it.
  19. That is a super cut of that pattern. A+
  20. I have mixed emotions on it. I do like the knob on the Hegner, but I would hesitate to put it on a Ex. My concern is the EX has aluminum clamps and the bolts used on the knobs are steel. It would in crease the likelihood that a person might put too much pressure on the knob and strip the threads in the clamp. That is partially why I don't make or buy the bigger round knobs that are available. I also to not mind, nor have any trouble with the knob that is standard on the Ex. That being said, I do find this interesting and am anxious to see what the end results is.
  21. Thank you for your comments. I just had to share the comment from my son, when I set him a picture of the Viking Worrior (keep in mind he is one of my biggest supporters) "Is that a tree in the background or a guy shot in the ass with his hands in the air in pain and praising God?" Cracked me up and now every time I look at the picture, that is what I see!!
  22. That's darn cool!
  23. Glad you joined us, Bob. I've been to Springfield, a beautiful area. Looking forward to seeing some of your scrolling.
  24. Great pieces!
  25. Wonderful piece of art. I also have the pattern, on my to do list. I do not know when all the "to does" will "get done"
