  1. Did it that way for years. My was just a piece of 2"x 4", nothing fancy.
  2. My only comments are very nice, well done and I like the colors you used.
  3. Now that is something I would do!
  4. Very nice cutting.
  5. You just keep getting better and better at it. That looks great.
  6. Great job!
  7. Very well done.
  8. When you go to post a new topic or do a reply, there is a little icon above the box where you type you message. The icon is on the right side, suppose to look like a sheet of paper with a paperclip at the top. To me it looks like a box with a fishhook hanging down. Click it and then click on upload attachment. Find the picture you want to attach, upload it and you should be good to go. It even lets you pick a size you want the attachment to show.
  9. That is some SCROLLING!!! Great work, Gator!
  10. Well done, sir.
  11. Tony, I am a Pacific Northwesten-er and love this type of art. You really did it proud. I do not quite understand the process you use. But it is great however you do it.
  12. Charles Dearing cuts a lot of large pieces. If you look on Youtube, there is a video or two of him doing his cutting. It shows the kind of stands he uses for his large cutting.
  13. They could only be idols if you worship them.. I agree with Gordie. Especially his last sentence.........

Hi Glenna, glad you are here. There are some good tutorials on here in the articles section about pattern making with Gimp and Inkscape. i am not good at pattern making, so that is as far as I can help you.
  15. And, remember, no matter what you do, you are working with wood and it has it's flaws. Some chip out may occur even with all the precautions mentioned above.
  16. That is a very cute one. Should be very popular.
  17. Very beautiful pictures. Thanks for the tutorial. I still do not understand parts of it but what you do is very unique and beautiful.
  18. Steve, your trivets are great! Have you thought of doing one in Corian? I'm not sure were I saw it recently, but one of the projects was a trivet, kind of a Celtic design done with Corian. I have to find where I saw that because I really want to give it a try.
  19. I have and use the small clamp. I have both, have never had a reason to use the bigger clamp yet.
  20. The problem I have with mine is getting the tension adjusted correctly for the size blade. So far I have not been able to use a blade smaller than a #3. I like to do delicate pictures, and my most used blade is a spiral #3/0. I have not been able to work with one on my Hegner. Very thankful I have an Excalibur also otherwise I would no be enjoying scrolling. Hopefully I will someday figure out the right combo to get them to work with the Hegner. All I can say is practice, be patient, buy lots of blades. It is a great saw, but like I say it takes some getting use to. You might check out the different clamps available at Advance Machinery. I like the "QuickClamp" best. http://www.advmachinery.com/c-6-scroll-saw-accessories.aspx
  21. Just some very beautiful work. Thanks for posting here. Hope you will continue to do so. They have a nice gallery here also that you can post your pictures in.
  22. Phillip, I have a Hegner and they take some getting use to. I have only had mine a few months so I am still trying. I see from your first picture that there are two things I would suggest trying. I have a different clamp on mine but I also have the same clamp you have that I have used. The screw above the clamp should be screwed down till it is almost touching the top of the clamp. On that type clamp you do not want it toughing but almost, as I understand it. Also try to get the blade as perpendicular to the clamp as you possibly can. In the picture below I have arrows pointing to what I am talking about. I have the screw all the way down on mine and you are suppose to with the clamp I am using. Also do not hesitate to call Advance Machinery ( 800.727.6553 ). They will help you, no matter if you didn't buy from them.
  23. Very nice!
  24. Very well done. That is a pattern I have, or one similar, that I hope to get to someday. Mine is for a picture, not stand alone. I like what you did. I would put a clear finish on it. Mainly because it makes it a little easier to remove dust.
