  1. Nice cutting, I'd love to see them painted also.
  2. Gator, why not order them through Mike's Workshop site? I did a while back shipping $3. As long as I've order from Mike's site it has been $3.
  3. Great clock.
  4. This one I made at the request of my son. It is a friend of his that taught him how to play the ukulele. I have not put finish on it yet because I have not heard from my son yet to get his buy off. He really has to like it, I don't plan on doing another. The pattern was one Joleet did. Thank you. I could not decide from the great patterns that were posted so I let my son do the deciding.
  5. Sanding on a "Five Dragon Box" I cut, pattern from finescrollsaw.com. If I was a better cutter I wouldn't have so much sanding! Tedious work and I keep setting it aside to work on later. I am also scrolling a portrait my son requested of a friend of his that taught my son how to play the ukulele.
  6. You can order that part directly from their site. I purchased one a while back to have as a spare. They do wear out eventually.
  7. Nicely done!
  8. That tower looks like alot of hard work. Great cutting on all.
  9. Very well done.
  10. Be sure and save the marble out of the empty rattle spray can. I have a whole Coke bottle 1/2 full of them now.
  11. Another very nicely scrolled piece, Gordie. Looks great.
  12. Sounds like now is the time to order a spare set.
  13. Ha! They know they have a poor uncle.
  14. Congrats. I'd be happy with breaking even. I have never tried to sell any of my stuff.
  15. Even more important than me and my great nephew scrolling is the story of the reason he came to stay with us for a few days. You do not think you will experience this but you read about it. What I am talking about is reading about some young kid dropping dead while playing some sports or something. Will last week my great nephew, 13 years old, this boy's older brother, collapsed in PE at school and essentially died. His heart stopped. The PE teacher immediately started CPR and kept it up for many minutes until the Fire Chief came. The Fire Chief came because there was no one else available to respond, they were all out on calls. The Fire Chief and PE teacher continued CPR until an Ambulance could arrive. Got him to the hospital and "brought him back" got him stabilized and had him flown to a hospital in a larger city that specializes in heart attacks. They discovered he had a rare heart condition and it required a pace maker to keep his heart beating correctly. Next morning he went in surgery, the following day they brought him home and he is doing very well. From dead to feeling very well, in fact he told his mom he felt better then he could ever remember feeling, in two days. The PE teacher and Fire Chief deserve metals of some sort. The saved his life. It is all pretty amazing to me and my niece has 4 boys. I was also amazed at how people stepped in to help. We took second oldest boy to take care of for a few days. That in it's self turned out to be a blessing. I am not very use to being around today's young kids. In fact they terrify me. But all at the like I say the guy and me hit it off and had a good time. Life can be amazing!
  16. Do to a family emergency, we had a great nephew stay with us for a few days. He is 12 and to be truthful, I have been around him very little. To say the least I was pretty nervous and not sure how it would work out. But all went very well. Him and I hit it off pretty good and he showed interest in my wood working. So I sat him at the scroll saw. I drew some lines on a piece of wood and told him to follow those lines. Really surprised me he practiced for several hours. I did not think it would keep him busy for more than a few minutes. But, he really enjoyed it and given time and practice I think he could master it. I took his picture to send to his Mom. Told her he was okay, still had two thumbs and 7 fingers. I thought she would panic but she was very supportive of it all. This is the future master doing his business: Time ran out an he had to go home, but he asked me to cut this for him to give to his Mom on Mother's Day. I think she will enjoy it. Not as much as if he had been able to cut it but still he picked it out and is excited to give it to her. It is a Steve Good pattern.
  17. Those are great. Should bring a good price at an auction. Well done.
  18. Your friend has got to love that car picture. Very well done. Great work on the Charles Dearing pattern also. Pattern BD 2, I have that one also.
  19. Very beautiful piece.
  20. WOW! Thank you for the tour! Very beautiful. Way to much work for me. I enjoyed hearing the sheep in the background.
  21. My brother and his wife love to go to yard sales. Each year I tell them what to look for for me. They have found me some nice wood and a few other things, this year I told them to look for picture frames. I'll see what they come up with.
  22. Great sign! When you say "opening your garden" does that mean it is a tourist destination? I know gardens are different in the UK than in the US.
  23. That is some very neat precision scrolling. Great job!
  24. I was wondering if anyone would ask that. As you know all pilots in the Navy have a call sign (nickname). It is given to them by other pilots and usually reflects something about the pilot or about some thing he has done. I Brian's case, he got his in flight school. It was because he was always so serious and studying, practicing, and trying to be the best in the classes and flying. The other pilots called him "Spool" because they all thought he was wound up real tight. Being a Navy pilot was all Brian ever wanted to do since he was around 11 years old. I think the movie "Top Gun" had a lot to do with it. When he was 12 I took him to a Navy recruiter office and ask a recruiter to tell Brian what it took to be a navy pilot. I also took him to a air show and made him go talk to a pilot that were there. ( Years later, Brian flew in the same air show). The recruiter and the pilot made raising Brian real easy for us. They both told him he had do get good grades in school and college and never get into any trouble. He did both, we never had to tell him to study, fact sometimes I had to tell him to not spend so much time at it and he never got into any trouble.
  25. I posted this picture of my son in a F-18 Superhornet. He is a pilot, took a selfie and I did the picture from a pattern Mr. Lawson did for me. My son loved it EXCEPT in the Navy the rank Commander is abbreviated CDR not Cmdr as I did. So I decided to do it again. The second time I did it in 1/2" maple and routed the edges so it is self framed like I did the Lion Roar picture. I like it much better on the "do over". So does he. Redo:
