  1. Nothing other than time lost. Cleaned up nicely, this am I applied another coat of poly (the right can this time) and looks like one of the best finishes I have done..
  2. I made this one for my wife. She is obviously a quilter. I'm trying to decide what to put as a backer. Something like the piece of clothe it is sitting on. I might put a piece of clear acrylic on the inside middle then she could use it as a plate to through pins in when doing what ever you do to make a quilt. This is a Sue Mey patterm.
  3. Mom had to be very pleased with that.
  4. Nice scrolling.
  5. Rushing to finish a portrait I promised my son. Put the third coat of finish on it a this afternoon, spray poly, was looking at it before taking it to my drying shelf, and looked like I missed a spot. Grabbed the spray can off the shelf for a little tough up, started spraying and darn, it didn't look right. Maybe a little more is better, spray some more, this is worse. What the heck, then I looked at the can.... adhesive spray!! over the top of wet poly spray!!!! Grabbed the jug of mineral spirits and started wiping. After some serious wiping, I think it is going to be okay. I will wait at while to see how it looks before the final coat. There you go Steve, make you feel better about the little screw-up you posted the other day? I grabbed my "STUPID" sign and paraded around the house.
  6. Check local lumber yards, not the big box stores, to see if they carry Baltic Birch plywood. Normally comes in 5' x 5' sheets.
  7. Mgmine's post above reminds me of one on my Dad when I was a kid. Him and our neighbors Dad decided to build us boys some "go-carts" to play on. They were tired of seeing us mount motors on 2 x 12 blanks with wagon wheels, ropes to steer with,,,. Anyway, in the process of building mine, they had just welded up the steering mechanism and were standing there admiring their handy work. The neighbors wife came into the garage to see what was happening and of course they had to show her. They would turn the steering wheel back and forth to show her how well it worked. Very proud of themselves. She started laughing at them, they asked her what was so funny. She say look at what you did. They turn the steering wheel right, the wheels turned left! Sorry, Dad, just had to tell it one more time.
  8. If you notice, Francisco lives in Mexico, so I would assume there is not as big a selection available. I could be wrong. Sorry Francisco I am unable to comment on those saws, of the two I have only had experience with a Craftsman. Craftsman has sold many models over the years some good some not so good. The one I had was not bad to cut with, but the changing blades was difficult. You had to have the right size allen wrench, and a little "U" shaped tool to loosen and tighten the blade clamps. I had to get down on my knees every time I tightened or loosened the bottom clamp. I finally mounted the saw on a stand I made with a hinged top so I could lift the top, so the saw was on it's side when I wanted to clamp the bottom of the blade.. Not all Craftsman saws are like that. My advice would be to look over the saws, see how the blade changes are, and if at all possible, try them out. See which one you feel most comfortable with.
  9. Nice! I didn't know acrylic would cut that nice!
  10. WOW! That is some nice cutting!
  11. My smallest is a #63. I use it quite often I should say I use them, the little bits wear out quickly. I can not sharpen them on my Drill Doctor!
  12. That's pretty much how I do it. I'll able to sit at the scrollsaw a max of 30 minutes at a time. Usually I get up about every 20 minutes and drill some more, go see what is happening on the forum or maybe just walk outside for a while. If I go more than 30 minutes someone is going to have to help me get up. My back will not take it. I'm taking a little break right now.
  13. That is cute.
  14. Very nice looking openers. Great scrolling on the handles.
  15. Very well done!
  16. I use Johnson's Paste Wax about once a month.
  17. Don't feel bad, it is part of the hobby. I had to redo one just because I abbreviated Commander "Cmdr" instead of "CDR" but I felt a lot better about the do over anyway and glad I had to do it. Hang in there..
