  1. What a Christmas present to have you back!! So happy.
  2. Very nice~
  3. All very nice, I like the way you do a little extra and paint the little birds.
  4. THIS IS WHY I ENJOY MAKING THE MILITARY EMBLEMS SO MUCH. A RESPONSE LIKE THIS IS WORTH A LOT. Got home today and this was in my email Our friend, was overcome with thankfulness. He hopes to meet you to thank you in person.
  5. Never had an issue with cedar, but rarely use it.. I do get reactions to Cocobolo. When I was turning it was one of my favorites to use. I always paid a price, nothing serious just some discomforts. But I suppose with more exposure, the reactions could get worse.
  6. And if doesn't work, but you drink some, You will not care nearly as much!
  7. Nice cutting. Hope you get some pain relief soon!
  8. A fleet of great looking trucks!
  9. Feels good to get am obligation done. Now you can relax.. Those are great projects, well done.
  10. Glad you have moved into the village. Hope you enjoy it, Not many get to start out with a top of the line scroll saw.
  11. Dang.. you see all this.. that is why I like the Hegner... so little has changed, it is easy to look at and know what is good and what is bad.. Not a bunch of upgrades to fix something. Hawks so many upgrades over the years and the motor thing, scares me. I am very shy about them. I know the correct ones are an awesome saw, but so many things to check out. I never worried on the Excalibur type saws, because the two I have owned I bought new. And having quite a lot of experience with them I know what I would look for on a used one. Thanks for your input.
  12. The "rope" ring and the middle emblem piece is 1/4" BB, the stained area where the script is is 1/8". I use the waste from cutting the rope as the backer because it is thick enough to put my id disk on and the hanger. this picture does not show the hanger but I use a sawtooth hanger. Do it. I have been scrolling a long time and there military emblems are the absolute most rewarding project I have done. I have been so thanked to the point of tears from some. It means a lot. It is so worth the effort. My dental Hygienist mentioned to me the first visit that she was a Marine. I made one and just left it at her office. I got a phone call from her and she was crying with thanks. Now I go get my teeth cleaned, I get the cleaning and a hug! I still get a bill but with the hug it is not as painful..
  13. I have a want to someday own a second saw again. Been watching craigslist, and this one is within a few miles of me. BUT, I do not know Hawk saws, other than what I read here. I get the feeling there are some good ones and some maybe not as good ones. This, to me, looks nice, but I do not know. It is very clean, and does not look at all abused. But what so you look for if one was to go look at it. Some motors were not good. Some clamps were not so good.. I just do not know. It worries me. I am not rich, so this is a none necessary expense for me, but I guess I have the " I want" to know about Hawk saws. Honest opinions please: https://kpr.craigslist.org/tls/d/richland-rbi-hawk-scroll-saw/7688773614.html
  14. Great job!
  15. Well then in that case, I do not know why you couldn't do with that saw, that you could do with a bigger newer one.
  16. I made and of the Submarine Service plaques at the request of my neighbor to give to a good friend that was a submariner. The last one of these will make more of just the emblems for giveaways.
  17. Good luck on your endeavors. It is a saw certainly worth saving if for no other reason, than nostalgia. If you get real involved in scrolling I feel you will want to up grade to a newer version. But that one is a keeper, just for conversation if for no other reason. Does it accept pinless blades?
  18. Well I am just a tad older than you. Less than two months I will be 80. Now that is getting pretty well seasoned. In April '65 I was on a in Okinawa, getting ready to hit the beaches in VN. But you know lots of senior discounts start a 55. I have a son around your age that is retired after 22 years Navy working on his second career flying air bus for Fedex, so he hates to admit it also but shortly he can get senior discounts at McDonalds. I can remember the day he at 12 and I were talking he said Dad, I want to be a Jet Pilot when I grow up, and that is exactly what he did. He never weavered from that goal. Started in F-14 Tomcats, went to F-18 SuperHornets.. do I sound like a proud father. I enjoyed his career almost as much as he did.
  19. Humm. I looked at your profile, Melanie, You give month/day of birth.. not year,,, I find that suspicious, You sure you did not watch the original episodes?
  20. I know Nothing! What TV show was that from all you senior people.
  21. Oh ya, I suspected so, on his grandmother's side of the family. All 3 of my grandkids are very good looking. Every one remarks how it must be from "the other side of the family"! None of them look like me,,I almost suspect,, something went on.. milkman, for the young people a milkman is a man that delivered milk to peoples houses, or maybe a mailman. I always thought no matter, they are all keepers.
  22. The official real cutie pie. what a handsome little fellow!
  23. very nice gifts. Yep the cats are really very well done. The detail on the ears, the red hearts are a great touch.
  24. Very well done.
