  1. What a great find. I still use a "bar" type stool but that back rest sounds really interesting. Congrats on your gift

    Porter Cable PCB375SS

I run mine daily, sometimes 10 hours but on average about 6 - 8. The plastic insert at the blade sits low, it will catch the corner of wood on short pieecs. The fix, tape a playing card over the hole. The blade holder screws that came with the saw, were breaking blades very fast. Took them out looked at hte, tried to file them flat, metal was too soft to keep blades after several blade changes. Fix, went to home depot, purchased some 6mm allen head bolts, filed and sanded the bottoms, no more blades breaking because of the bolts. The blower nozzle wears out fairly fast and drops out of range to do any good. Some electrical tape helped this. I use this saw contantly and will say for the price it is a great saw. for a beginner. I had the 16" version that lasted me 4 years or so. Minimal vibration, pretty quiet. I feed my blades from the bottom and now use a long allen key to set the bolts. Not an issue. I would recomend this saw for someone learning or as a second saw in a heart beat. I'm just saving up for a more heavy use saw like Ex-21 or the like.
  3. Hopefully the weather will break for you in time. We have a 5 day event over the 4th been working my butt off trying to build up inventory plus keep up with everything else.
  4. Nice job on that.
  5. Happy Father's Day
  6. I don't understand how this could be an issue if you were square when you started. If it is coming out of square then I would think there is an issue with the saw.
  7. I have the Porter Cable table top. I would get a floor model if at all possible. Mine was tough to keep in alignment for great cuts with out a bow in the middle. Did the job though to a degree. The motor staretd acting up so it sets under one of my benches. I use either a Stanely 7 or 8 if it's more the my table saw can handle. Keep them sharp and they work wonders, although you need winding sticks but that simple enough. Good luck Kevin.
  8. I was there earlier today. Now understand all the YELLOW tags on some of the products
  9. Good find and deal
  10. What a special time you had. Love to see and read stories like this. I also see you had the shop foreman checking you out too
  11. Best of luck with this Kevin. I have a cheaper bench top jointer I picked up for around 200.00 and like it.Although a big floor model would be much better. The sander is capable of planing to thickness and leveling out boards so another decent option.
  12. 55 mm equals 2 11/64 inches . Here a place to calculate these types of measurements too. https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/length/mm-to-inch.html
  13. Although silicone is a great lubricant I stay away from it with contact with wood. Cause too many issues when finishing. I use a good quality paste wax easy to apply and clean up.
  14. Mikes workshop and The Wooden Teddy Bear have the numbered bits at reasonable prices.
  15. All your efforts are paying off. Great job on the Queen.
  16. A lot of people that make cutting boards use mineral oil and beeswax for a finish. Easy to touch up in the event it is needed. I have used this combination on a few bowls I have done and worked out great.
  17. My biggest concern would be the copy right issues. A lot of us live in the States and are bound by those laws. Others in different countries are not so restricted. I personally would purchase the pattern to honor the work of the designer . I have also seen copy righted patterns posted on pintrest that have in book form or a magazine. No idea where the poster was from though.
  18. I keep mine on 2 external hard drives and also in disc form. Loosing this much information would be really bad.
  19. Not familiar with the area but wish you all the best. Hopefully you'll find others with similar interests.
  20. Glad to hear your playing and learning Les.
  21. As you can read here many people will have different opinions on things. There are lots of good folks here and from all different skill levels. For you to say your a bother? Everyone here started at the beginning and learned from block one. There will be no exceptions and this applies to most things in life. No need to feel bad about asking questions or for help. Blade speed will effect many things. I'm just happy your learning and growing. And don't forget to have fun a long the way
  22. Wished I had the time would love to be there.
  23. Good to know, thank you
  24. Les The more you cut and using different woods you will find that each blade will have a slightly different feel and purpose. After a while you will settle in on the blades that best work for you and your style of cutting. People can offer opinions about what they like, but I learned it's what is best for me. Granted I have been scrolling for a good while and went down the road the newer people are traveling. The best advise I ever got about blades was to find what worked for me. This was from a gentleman that had been scrolling for over 50 years. I will make recommendations on my experience and have. But they will be based on my experience. Happy to hear you learning and exploring.
  25. Ray I cut a lot of my work with a #3 UR or a #1 UR and don't have a problem. I'm curious if you had the blade installed upside down ? I'm not familiar with the modified geometry blades but the UR's have a reversed tooth every third tooth. Glad to hear you got you problem sort of worked out.
