  1. Following. I can't make Inkscape do what I want either.
  2. Happy Thanksgiving to all of my scroll saw friends and their families. I hope everybody has a safe, warm wonderful day.
  3. You answered your own question there Kevin. You said "it's just another 20 feet". That would mean she would have to go 40 feet extra and she ain't getting paid to do that.
  4. Dave, from what I have heard and/or read, you want to leave the feed/suction line as large as it is at the vac and neck it down as close to the pick up point as possible and try to keep the piping as large as you can. You want air flow volume so necking down too much destroys the suction. 6" down to 4" should work fine. But taking it down smaller might be detrimental to flow volume.
  5. Excellent idea Frank.
  6. Wow! That's a big hole in the water.
  7. BOAT stands for "bring out another thousand". It's a hole in the water where you throw your money. Two happiest days in a boat owner's life, the day he buys it and the day he sells it. RV's are very similar.
  8. I have a Ridgid occillating spindle sander that I use a lot. Also a Harbor Freight 4 x 36 belt sander. I have 2 ROS sanders, 2 Dremel's, and a 14" Delta band saw. I would not want to have to lose any of those tools. I would have to say that the bandsaw is one of my favorite and used tools. I very seldom ever use my Dewalt miter saw. It's way to big and heavy and sits under my bench. I have a Delta planer but have not used it much so it could go. I'd like to have a small handheld rechargeable trim router. I think that would come in handy if it was easy to use. You've got a great scroll saw. I have 2 Ex's and would not want to lose either one. Have fun, buying tools is always a great way to spend the day.
  9. Frank, that is gorgeous. I have that on my todo list also. You did a masterful job and I truly appreciate your detailed description. Thanks.
  10. I don't see anything wrong with it. You will always be the one to see the flaws. I'm just as bad.
  11. As always, your work is superb! Wonderful job!
  12. Anything like that would have to sit out on my driveway. I have no room left in my shop. I'm even thinking of moving my bandsaw outside and having a good cover made for it. What I need is a really good way to store & organize the wood that I have. I have a ton of great wood but I have no place to put it that is out of the way.
  13. Thanks, I've got an idea forming in my pea-brain and it will make the "lazy susan" unnecessary.
  14. Jim, can you elaborate just a bit on the pivot point? I'm trying to envision what you are using as the pivot. Is it just a large nail, a bolt or what? Any bearing surface at all? I was thinking of making something similar to yours and using a good quality "lazy Susan" bearing plate. Woodcraft has them but not sure if they are large enough.
  15. Pictures are worth a 1000 words. If you could post a couple, I know someone here can help. And also, welcome to the Village.
  16. I just recently sold a great little bench top drill press made by Delta. If I recall correctly, it was a ShopMaster 250. It was an 8" capacity which means it had 4" from the center of the chuck to the post. It was perfect for my tiny shop but I found a deal on a 10" ShopMaster 300 so I bought it. Not all that much bigger but it has a crank up table. I sold my little one for as much as I paid for the bigger one. Keep on eye on C/L for used tools. Everything in my shop was bought used from either eBay or C/L.
  17. Buy the Dremel plunge router attachment. That way you won't be limited to where you can drill. I've got two of them. One for my regular Dremel and one for the larger discontinued Dremel that was designed for doing cutouts. They work great.
  18. I think another great reason for using it over blue tape is cost. It is far cheaper to buy a 30 foot roll of the stuff for about $6. If you bought as much blue tape, you'd be spending upwards of $100 I'll bet. I do use it but I also use the full-page shipping labels too. I very seldom use the spray glue. The labels go right into my laser printer and come out great.
  19. Out here in the West, I use Cherokee Wood Products. Fantastic prices and service. If you want to chat with someone, call Chris at their place of business. He maintains their website/online business. Go to their website and click on "woodworking supplies" and you'll find that they have a section just for scrollers. I've had great success with them. They try very hard to keep the cost of shipping down too. Cherokeewood.com
  20. I just went to the website for the Metropolitan Vacuum Company. They are the makers of the MetroVac500 and many other innovative items. I wrote a letter to them explaining that they might be missing out on a niche business out here with all the scrollers who are concerned with the fine dust and want to keep as much of it confined and caught as possible. I explained that some of us are using their products now but not as effectively as we might be able to if they designed, built and sold a vac system that could work on our saws with minor retrofitting. I left my name, address and phone number so we'll see if I get any contact back from them. They build some neat stuff for specialty industries.
  21. I've never heard of it. And I see you can buy one at Menard's for $81. For that small price, I'd give it a try but I wouldn't expect too much out of it. I'll bet it will be noisy and if it is that good at filtering out the dust, it might not suck well. But, like I said, for $81 I'd buy one and figure at the worst I'd have a good shop vacuum for cleaning up the place.
  22. She should have known by now that that was a silly question. No crafts-person will ever have enough tools.
  23. It's too bad that first you don't live close to me and second, you weren't in need a month ago. I bought a larger drill press and sold my small one.
  24. OMG! I would love to have that much room.
  25. I'm going to try to eliminate the corragated hoses anywhere I can and replace them with straight pvc pipe. Only use the hose where necessary. Anything to help the air flow.
