  1. I went to school with a guy by the name of Rocky and then I also had a good customer whose name was Rocky. Our neighbors cat is named Rocko. Close.
  2. You will wonder why you waited so long.
  3. I know that we have had a ton of discussion on dust collection and recently a few folks have posted pics of what they have designed for their particular saws. For all that, I thank you all because I have picked up a ton of great ideas. But, with that said, I doubt most of us really understand "dust collection" so I thought I'd post this link to a great video that I just came across and watched. I learned a lot I hope you do too.
  4. Larry, I'm going to try to give you an answer to that question/suggestion. I have tried many times to use the search feature to find something that I know has been talked about prior. But for the life of me, I never seem to be able to use the right "search" criteria to find what I'm looking for. Every once in a while it works but most generally it doesn't so I just post a new question/topic. And, I'm never disappointed because of the vast knowledge here and it is forever changing.
  5. What a simple and unique idea. That's why I'm not a rocket scientist. Or brain surgeon. I do sweep a mean floor though.
  6. I'm curious about something. When you are using a blade and have to change to a different blade for one reason or another, how do you keep track of that used blade? In my case, I mainly used Pegas #5 MGT so I just set it aside for the time being but what do others do?
  7. I bought a 60 tube rack that came with the tubes. What I have found though is that I pretty much use the same blade type/brand/size most of the time so my rack just sits and gets dusty. I have blades that I bought from FD, Olsen, Pegas, PSWoods etc. that will probably never get used. It's part of the hobby and learning curve. When I first got interested I took a marquetry class and the instructor suggested buying a couple of gross of 2/0 blades from a watch repair outfit that doesn't even sell them anymore. But, I have them. Oh well, it's only money. $$$$
  8. Very nice Dan. Great idea.
  9. The Fein that I have is no longer made. It was one of the original Italian made ones. But, with that said, I think any of the upper end vacs will work well. I've not priced the Festool since I bought my Fein. As I mentioned, check for a used one on either C/L or eBay. Since I hooked mine up to the Dust Deputy, the white filter bag inside of the vac is pristine. I can't see any fine dust in it at all. I like the idea of running a box fan with a really good filter on it as an air cleaner. I used a box fan with a really cheap set of furnace filters. I mean a package of 4 was under $5. I wrapped all four of them to the fan with bungee cords and set it along side of the table on my saw with the little blower aimed in that direction. I was amazed at how much of the dust those cheap filters caught. With a really good HEPA filter I can see that it could be very effective. I did once ask my wife about bringing one of my saws into the house. Boy, talk about "stink eye".
  10. I'm very happy with the Wen. I did have to replace the electronics in it. It would turn itself on when I wasn't around. It was picking up a signal from something in the area. I contacted Wen and they sent me a new receiver for it. I haven't had any problem since. I like the feature that it will run for an hour after I leave the shop. I cleaned the pre-filter in it and it is catching a ton of dust. I compared the cfm of it and the more expensive ones. It's a bit less but not enough to make me upgrade. I'm old so I do things as cheaply as possible. No sense buying all the super expensive stuff at my age just so somebody else can enjoy it. Lol!
  11. If you laughed, my job here is done.
  12. I have a little shop too. No place to hang anything. I even found a nice wall clock in our dumpster. After taking the little motor apart and getting it working again, my wife asked me where I planned on hanging it. I looked at her with my standard dumb look and said "I have no idea'.
  13. I've had pretty good luck using eReplacementparts.com. They aren't cheap but when you need something you just have to grin and bear it. I've also used the Dewalt parts line too. They have a parts/repair center about an hour from me.
  14. Thurman, to answer your question, I have a Fein vac running a Dust Deputy before it. The filter inside of the vac is spotless. That cyclone does a fantastic job. I also bought a Wen air filter that is mounted up over my head in my tiny shop. It does a great job of catching what small dust is in the air. I wear a face mask that has the changeable cartridges. So, I'm fairly sure that I have a set up that is working as close to 100% as I can get. Shop around on C/L for used Fein vacs. I only had to wait about 2 weeks for mine to come up for sale. I got it with a 16 foot hose in almost new condition for $175. I'm very happy with my setup.
  15. A couple of years ago I bought a Brother all-in-one color laser printer. I love it! No messy ink to fool with. Never fails to print unless I forget to load the paper. It has a single sheet feed that allows me to print on the full page shipping labels that Kevin put me onto way back. I can't say enough good about this printer. I picked it up on sale from Amazon at the time for $227. It came with the starter cartridges and I'm still using them. There is a youtube video that shows how to "reset" the printer when it comes to that point where it wants you to buy new cartridges. So far, I'm still on the first ones. I did buy a black toner cartridge but it's still in the box. The number on my printer is MFC-9130CW. It has been discontinued but they are still out there.
  16. I might suggest something here. I bought 2 of the MetroVac's. One for each of my saws. After buying them, I started looking at the little portable vacs from Oreck. We wanted one for our motor home so I got curious as to the price on eBay. I found one like new with all the attachments for a total of $58. Also found many others that would be in that price range or even less. I'm thinking seriously about experimenting with the one I bought to see how good the suction is. They are not all that noisy. Not like a shop vac. I'll let you all know once the experiment is done. I may be putting my 2 Metro's up for sale. @Rolf, I"m going to incorporate a small piece catcher similar to the one you use. I like that idea.
  17. Very well done Berndt.
  18. Put the filter on the suction side. Blow the air away from the saw. The blower tube on your saw should blow the dust off the table and into the filter.
  19. If it's in your budget to afford the Pegas, that is definitely the way to go. I have 2 Excalibur saws that the Pegas is based upon. I love both of them. I owned a Dewalt and liked it. But after buying the Ex, I sold the Dewalt. I've also tried the Hawk and sold it because it was just too big. And I had a Hegner. I liked it a lot but it had a speed problem that was going to be too expensive to fix. So, I sold it too. Now I have what I consider to be the absolute best saws for the money.
  20. Thanks for all that info. But not being able to actually see it, it would be great if at some point you deconstruct it for any reason, maybe you could shoot some pics of all the pieces individually. I can sort of see it in my mind but there are a lot of clouds and fog to get through in my old head. I used a Tropical orange juice bottle as a muffler but it might be causing a bit of blockage. I might have to cut the back end out of it and just let it flow through fully. Right now, I'm still in the process of building my system. I got high-centered working on our motor home trying to get it ready to go on a long trip after the first of the year. Providing our illustrious new President doesn't shut it all down again. Anyway, if you can provide pics, I'd sure be appreciative.
  21. Excellent build. I'm curious as to the clear hose. What/where is it and from. I'm using cpap hose but if it proves to be too small in diameter, I might like to go to that hose/tubing. Can you elaborate on all of your pieces? Thanks for the great pics.
  22. If I recall from when I had mine, the slot in the holders is wide or narrow. There is not a whole lot of difference to the naked eye. Whatever slot is the closest to the blade you are using. I hope this helps.
  23. I too didn't realize you were in Canada. Oops! Anyway, I sort of like that idea that Kevin has regarding the use of lexan or acrylic. I have some 1/4" plexi that might also work. I'm going to give it a try and see how flat it is. I also like the idea of being able to see through it. That might be a great accessory for the industry to consider. Or even for a stock table. It could be made a bit thicker if needed.
  24. Well, you know that Pegas has brought a much bigger table. You might contact Denny Kneppen here on the Village. Seems like it's under $100.
  25. Well, now you can buy the larger table for your King. Also, you might call Ray at Seyco and see what the possibility might be for adapting a Seyco table to your saw.
