  1. I had considered buying a bandsaw, planer etc. to cut my own thin stock. Then I found Cherokee Products. I decided that it would be cost effective for me to buy my wood from them over spending thousands of dollars on equipment and many hours of learning how to create my own stock. I'm 77 years old so time is a high priority. I do have a Delta 14" bandsaw and have successfully resawn wood down to 1/4" x 6". It still required planing. Now I just call Chris at Cherokee and tell him what I need and in a couple days it shows up ready to use. It hurts my wallet but I save a ton of time. You might give that some thought. JMHO!
  2. I also noticed that the name "Grobet" was on them. That's who makes the Pegas brand.
  3. I just did a google on them and Amazon came up with a #3/0 for $17.85 a gross. I might have to give them a try.
  4. I have a feeling that this whole fiasco of the VIRUS has everybody closed down.
  5. Thanks Stoney. It called for sapele/paduak/walnut but I couldn't find sapele anywhere so I just used my standby mahogany.
  6. I've veen on their page many times. It is in English. Are you going to advancedmachinery.com? You've made a mistake somewhere. Here is the site I use. https://advanced-machinery.myshopify.com/pages/frontpage
  7. I see your point. I forgot that he was in the U.K. Ooops!
  8. Les, he contacted Advanced Machinery but has had no come back from them. Probably due to the shutdown.
  9. Sorry to hear of your predicament RJ. I hope it all works out for you in the not distant future.
  10. Usually they are very responsive but with this whole virus fiasco, I'm sure they are not operating up to par. You might try Seyco.com and see if the tips are interchangeable with the Hegner tips. If so, you can buy the tips and o-rings from them. Ray is a very nice person to deal with also. I'm pretty sure the tips interchange between the Dewalt, Seyco, Pegas, Excalibur but not sure about Hegner. Good luck. Maybe someone here can give you more info.
  11. I'm not sure what you are talking about. What is the item? Can you post any pics? They help a lot.
  12. Wow! Guys will race anything. I've never seen/heard of this before. Must be something from the cold weather states. Looks like fun.
  13. Thanks. Now that I think of it, we have two of them for our outdoor lights at Christmas time. My one question though is, are they up to the task as far as amperage goes? I would think some of our equipment might draw more than 15 amps. When I wired my shop, I used 2 circuits, one is 15 amp for all the lighting. The other is 20 amp for all the outlets. Would these remotes handle the amperage?
  14. Well that looks good too. I guess I must be behind. I thought I found something cool. Oh well.....
  15. Please, don't sell yourself short. If I can do it, anybody can. It's just a matter of trial and error. I never show the "errors". Watch Dave's video on how to so double bevel inlay and practice a few and you'll get it. As for the bowl, I found the plans in one of my older magazines and decided that it looked like a fun project. It turned out to be a lot of fun and I plan to do more of them. Give it a try. If you want me to send you the plans let me know. Or, if you have the SSWC issue number 60, it's in there. Have fun.
  16. I get an email from time to time from Nick Ferry, woodworker. This one came in a few days ago and I just got around to watching it. He is showing a new remote outlet for a vacuum that is air-controlled. It is WAY cool. Here is the link to it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HC83XDT/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=nicfer00-20&linkId=c11ac331d53aaf4702b3f051abf3c6e2&language=en_US Here is the link to Nick Ferry's video that shows how it works. For $22 I think it's a winner.
  17. The biggest thing that I noticed was my choice of blade size. I went by what Carole Rothman suggested, a #5 at 1.5° angle. I should have dropped down to a #3 or even #1. What I ended up with was a good tight fit but a slight gap at the top of the inlay. Next time I'll try to go down a size or two and see what happens. I should have made more practice cuts. Oh well, live and learn. It was a fun project though and I look forward to making more of these.
  18. Thanks for all the info and advice. I probably won't be using it for food. I think my wife has it in her mind to just display it and "maybe" use it at some point for mixed nuts of the type that you have to shell. Like the old days. I don't know. I just want it to look good.
  19. You didn't know that Les? Yes. I have 2.
  20. Thanks. It's the first attempt at anything like that. I made a couple of mistakes but I know what I did so next time I will know what NOT to do.
  21. Thanks Les. I appreciate that. Only I can see the screwups. Next one will be better.
  22. And here I thought I was the only "screwup" in the Village. Thanks for taking the monkey off my back.
  23. This has probably been asked & answered before but my search skills never find what I need. I finished the bowl I've been working on and dipped it in natural Watco oil. Can I now apply a couple of coats of mineral oil / bees wax mixture? If the answer is yes, is it something that will need to be refreshed from time to time or is it "one & done"?
  24. Glad you're back upright. I didn't say "upstanding" though. Lol. Keep the cuttings comin'.
  25. What's a good source & price for the Carter guides. I've looked at them for years but I didn't pay too much more for the whole saw. I'd love to find a deal on a set.
