  1. It's rapidly becoming a $200 saw. Still not bad. I can still get the one nearby me for $200 but it has no stand. You got a great deal.
  2. Now I get it. I was picturing things that actually hung ON the door. Like "Keep Out".
  3. Well, if you are wondering about my comment, we are under the total control of a repressive nanny-state government that tells us what we can have and what we can't have. We are allowed to have smelly old paint thinner but for some unknown reason we aren't allowed to have to more refined and almost odorless mineral spirits. Go figure!
  4. Sorry for my ignorance but what's a door hanger?
  5. Danny, no matter what method you use, using a heat gun will make it easy to remove the tape/pattern. I can't buy mineral spirits here in the "People's Republic of California" so I covet the quart can that I have. So, I always use heat to remove my patterns.
  6. Simple is always best.
  7. You would know that. I had to spend $20 on one. Oh well, I got it all back when I sold it. I'm keeping an eye on the one that is here locally. It has a stand and is also variable speed but I just can't justify $200 for something that I don't need. I just want it. Maybe next week if it is still available.
  8. Well, you were probably going to spend the lunch money anyway so all I'm responsible for is the tension lever assy. And you know you need it. I take it you got blade clamps and a clamp wrench with the saw?
  9. All good info Brad. Thanks. Good to see your input.
  10. That's great. Did you get any extra blade clamps and the tightening wrench? Also, did you see what I said about the variable speed? I can't believe they stopped putting that on the new saws. Anyway, enjoy your new toy. I know you'll love it. I liked the one I had except for the speed problem. I'll be looking for another one. Maybe just like yours. There is one near me that I can get for $200 but that's more than I want to pay.
  11. That's great info Bill. Thanks. That might explain some of his emails that we went back and forth over. He and I spoke about the absence of woodworking shows here on the West Coast. He was at a show in Las Vegas at the time. He mentioned that he was seeing quite a few folks from California at the show. He had already taken 2 orders for Pegas bandsaws that would be shipped to Cal.
  12. Hey Les, I got curious about the Hegner 14" saws so I took a trip to the Advanced Machinery website to look at them. I'm surprised to find out that the new ones are single speed. You did say yours was variable speed, correct? Also, I don't know how far you got with their site as to reading about the new saws as compared to the old ones but I found this updated tension lever/device that is retrofittable to your older saw. Just food for thought for when you get to making your new tension parts.
  13. Just a quick note to update. I emailed again to the email address that was supplied here and got an almost immediate reply from the Grobet sales manager Bob Duncan. In less than a week, I received a gross of blades yesterday to replace the 11 dozen I still have left of the defective blades. I'm a happier camper and will continue to use Pegas products. Great/fast customer service.
  14. Well, now you have me looking for a tiny Hegner. We have a window that needs something. If I come across one, I'll snatch it up. Good luck with yours. Lots of info and help if you need it at Advanced Machinery. Wolfgang is very responsive if you email him with questions. Parts are readily available too. Expensive though.
  15. That sounds promising. It might be just right for those little projects. The fact that it is variable speed is a pleasant surprise.
  16. By any chance do you have some of those Pegas blades that had the notch cut in them at the top? There are still thousands of them out there. I had some breakage too but then I learned that if I clamped the blades higher with the notch right under the clamp screw, no more breakage and there was still enough reverse teeth at the bottom that I got a clean underside cut.
  17. I don't think there are any saw mills left in California. They have been deemed "environmentally" undesirable.
  18. Is it still too wet to go out Paul? Maybe everybody is afraid of the rain or something. It is strange how different parts of the country have better luck at selling stuff. Here where I live, there are 35 million people so there are a lot of lookers/buyers for almost anything. Too bad those Ex's aren't down here. There's a 30 inch one on C/L here that has been listed for a month at $875. Cold day in Hell.
  19. Well, if you are anything like me, I can't pass up a deal and if it's something that I know I can make a few bucks on, what the heck, why not? As long as the bills are paid and there is food on the table, go for it.
  20. Does it include a stand? That in itself is work another hundred. The big thing that I think would bother me, and it's just me, I don't think that saw has variable speed. I think it has a belt that is used to change speeds. But, if you want to play around with a Hegner, not a bad price. I'd have to at least go check it out. Is it close to you?
  21. I always look to see what isn't there. Because to make it up to current specs, it costs a lot of money. But with that said, for $100 you could take a chance on it. You'll get a lot of scrolling out of it if the motor is still good. I did a lot of studying and questions before I bought the one I did. The lever near you for tensioning is the big thing. Otherwise, all the tensioning is done at the rear of the saw away from you. But, a little 14 inch saw isn't that bad. I've been watching one near me that has come down to$280 and I thought about offering him a $100 but then, I thought, why do I need another saw. Especially one that I would have to spend at least $300 to get it to where it should be. I paid $300 for the one I had and it had all the updates and the factory stand. I turned it for $700 after playing with it for a while. Charley L is the person to ask. He gave me a lot of info on the Hegs. This is the one I've been watching. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/d/huntington-beach-multimax-scroll-saw/6900292324.html Here is one that has all the updated stuff. You can compare the pictures. The lever that you see here is the tension lever. Makes life easier. https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/tls/d/palmdale-hegner-scroll-saw/6934118728.html
  22. Kevin, what Weldbond do you use? I was just looking at Amazon and they show many different types and sizes. Is there one that is specifically for wood?
