    Does anybody still use nails. I have boxes of different size/type nails that I have acquired over the ladt 10 years. None that I have purchased. I honestly can't recall using a nail in a very long time. Other than a nail gun nail that is. I think what I have is headed for the dumpster. I know I have way too many odds and ends. I guess I need to dump what I have and start over.

    You are probably the smartest guy I know. Unfortunately, I'm a bit "scottish" when it comes to spending money so I always save everything. And you are so right about spending time hunting for something that you just know you have somewhere. Oh well.............thanks.

    Ok, here's another topic we can all agree to disagree on but it will be fun to see how everybody does it. I have two 40 drawer parts cabinets that I bought at H/F and a much sturdier 16 drawer cabinet that I inherited from the guy who lived across the street from me. My son just acquired 5 more small parts cabs and brought them to me full of mostly junk stuff. The unfortunate parts is none of these are of any sort of match except for the two that I bought at H/F. I got to wondering how you all have your stuff organized. Nuts, bolts, screws, etc. When should you draw the line? Who wants to go first. Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

    Congrats on your new saw. You will love it. I also did the Jim Dandy as Kevin did. The Dewalt is a great saw for the money.

    I guess that would something to take into consideration if we were ever going to move somewhere else. What kind of tv/internet/phone is available. How much and how fast? We also subscribe to Netflix, we have Amazon Prime and Acorn and Britbox subscriptions. We like the quality of British tv shows. They are far better than the stuff we get here on broadcast channels. Now, if you go to the cable channels, everything gets far better. ShowTime has some of the best stuff going.

    Kevin, it's all a part of our package. We are tv freaks. We watch a lot of tv. So, with that said, we subscribe to Verizon/Frontier and have everything they offer for tv. We have a landline phone and high speed internet. All for only $190/month. I have to fight them every 12 months to keep the price down. This time, we locked THEM into a 2-year deal. So no ups for 24 months.

    More than likely it's slow wifi/internet. If your computer used to function ok, I'd think it's slow internet. Try it late at night and see if it is better. The more folks online, the slower it is. I have Verizon FIOS 100/100 and it's fast. My laptop runs Win 10 and is an I-5 processor with 8 gig of RAM if that tells you anything for comparison. I had absolutely no pausing or stops. It ran smoothly all the way through. If you have trouble, just let it load the buffer while you go make a snack or something.

    I have chatted with a few of you folks about finishing and for the most part, I learned a lot. I even went so far as to buy a recommended book on the subject. I got part way through it and fell asleep. Sorry but, it's boring stuff. Anyway, after once again asking the questions about finishes and finishing, I did a search on Google regarding the sources for buying different products. In doing that I came across this video on the finishing process and all the different types of products out there. It told me so much and added to what I already had learned here that I just had to pass the link on for others. This guy knows his stuff and even does a question and answer thing toward the end.     Go back and watch the video all the way to the end. He pretty much addresses that issue. And my shop vac is the 14 gallon so it is a bit wider base so I know mine won't be top heavy. This is the best configuration I've come across.

    I see what you mean but in looking at the one for $62, it looks to me that by removing the two knurled wheels below the carrier, it could be "plunged". Maybe I'm wrong but it sure looks that way. They sure do look like some well-made tools though.

    I think you are wrong on this Kevin. That is for sure a router base but it's no different than the one you and I bought. It's just made a whole lot better and probably operates smoother. If I had known of it before, I might have done things differently. Now, I can certainly see the benefit of the cordless Dremel tool and will be thinking about one of them in the future. The only problem I see if having to remove it from the base for charging. Too bad it doesn't have a removable battery. Or does it? I haven't studied them at all and maybe the newer ones have that feature. Edit: Wow. I just did a look up on the cordless Dremel and they DO come with a removable battery. So, that problem is solved. A tool and 2 batteries would be the answer. But, now it's getting pretty pricey again. I guess I'll just live with what I have.

    Wow! JT, that is nice. Pricey but very nice and well made. I can see that combined with a rechargeable Dremel as a sweet tool. To me, I'd spend the money for that combo over the Seyco because you'd also have the Dremel for other tasks. Now I wish I had waited a bit longer.

    I keep forgetting that you live in the "outback" Kevin. I see why you do things the way you do. I have always had the convenience of shopping close by. Even back before it was gridlock here, there was always shopping near me. Also, there was a time that money was not always a factor as much as it is now that I'm on a fixed income.

    It's not that we can't have it but the stores can't sell it to us. If we have it they can't take it. I have a quart that I bought 4 or 5 years ago but when it's gone I would have to travel out of So Cal to buy more. It's just stupid air quality control. I'm really surprised that we can still pass gas.

    Just a heads up here. I looked at that tiny chuck on Amazon for $12.53. Then, just for the heck of it, I went to H/D and found it from them for $7 and change. I did have to order it but I went ahead and ordered one of their "DustStopper" kits at the same time. The chuck came in but the DustStopper is coming to my home tomorrow. Not sure why. Anyway, that little chuck works just great and it holds a #68 drill bit which is the smallest I have for scrolling. Hey, $5 is $5. Here is a link to the youtube video about the DustStopper. I already have the vac so this is going to work out great.

    I would like to ask, where do you purchase your Watco Danish oil? I just looked online at Amazon, Lowes, and H/D. If I want to buy a gallon it seems to be about $50 give or take plus shipping in some cases. Am I living in the past or has this stuff gone out of sight price wise? I'd love to know where you all are buying yours and if this is the price you are paying. I realize I live in the People's Republic of California where everything costs more but is this the norm nationwide?

    Thanks Kevin & JT. I know we discussed finishing in the past but I couldn't recall how you actually applied Watco. I have a bunch of those cheap 1" brushes and I use one of them to brush on the oil as I don't have enough to dip my project in. I bought a foil pan to use for that purpose but so far I haven't laid out the big bucks for a gallon of oil. I will in the future. I just wanted to know how you did it.

    JT, you mention Watco Danish oil. I use that too. I was wondering how you applied it. So far, I have just brushed it on. Is there a better way?

    If I'm not wrong here, I think the confusion is coming in from the fact that some folks are using it for only drilling holes and really don't need or care about the "lock" feature. I took a good look at mine and I see that there is a brass piston down inside of the hole where that knob attaches. When you screw the handle in it pushes that brass piston against the shaft and allows it to lock at a particular depth for routing. If you are only using it to drill holes with, you have no use for that feature. I took the brass piston out and stored it in a place that it won't get lost. I can just turn the knob in until it bottoms out in the threads and remains tight. I hope that I have cleared it up. I know that I understand what I'm saying. LOL!

    Our long time neighbors retired at a young age and bought an old house that had been all modernized on 11 acres. It had been a tobacco farm about 100 years ago. Now, it has become 18 acres with the addition of some neighboring land. Check out Rowdy Dogs Farm on Facebook. She posts tons of pictures of all the critters that they have since added. We visited them a couple of years back when we still had our motorhome and we parked in their driveway. Every morning we were awakened by the braying of their donkey Jackpot. I fell in love with Tennessee and I know I would love their politics there a lot better than where I live.     I'm not sure they ever won favor in the aircraft industry though. For some reason, the Feds didn't like them.
