  1. I've heard that the small wheels in those saws are very hard on the blades too. Not sure of this but what I've heard. If I was in the market for a bandsaw and couldn't find a used one, I'd look hard at the Grizzly.
  2. Thanks. It popped up on Marketplace. I couldn't believe the price but responded immediately that I'd take it. I figured that even if it didn't work I could salvage the bones and make something out of it. She just wanted it gone to make room for something else.
  3. I speak from some experience here as I had one of the cheap band saws at one time. But, with that said, I don't see any reason to run out and spend a fortune on a new one either. In my area, I see quite a few used saws of good quality. Delta is my favorite. I bought a Delta about 10 years ago for about $300 if I recall. I don't see that they have gone up much since then. I also see a lot of restored saws that sell for as much of more than a new one. So, my advice is, if you aren't in a rush, keep an eye open for a good deal on a use saw. Craigslist and Marketplace are your friends. I have a complete workshop full of used tools. I just picked up a 12 inch disk sander a couple of days ago for $50. It weighs a ton and runs as smooth as butter. Good luck, and be patient.
  4. The only thing missing is motivation and I'm finding some as we speak.
  5. I definitely don't blame you one bit. At 65 degrees, if there is a whisper of wind, I find it difficult to go outdoors and set up my tablesaw. That's my next thing, to cut some plywood down to size to start on the peacock table lamp that Berndt Munzieb sent me the plans for.
  6. I found a lot of interesting content. For Hegner owners who have problems and don't know it, it's a great place to check out. Even though my saw is running fine, I did do some alignment checking to make sure everything was just right. And, he did some alterations to a Hegner stand that I really like and will be doing something similar. I have to find a welder in my neighborhood first.
  7. I ran across this fellow a while back and now he has his own place on Facebook. He has been in the business of servicing Hegner saws in the U.K. for 30 years or so. He has a ton of helpful info on his site. Check him out. Lots of pictures and how-to advice. Very nice fellow. He also has available an improved drive link that has better sealed bearings and quite a bit larger so it won't crack. On Facebook, search for "Hegner, A Saw Subject".
  8. That's thinking outside the box, for sure. Nice!
  9. I was thinking same, Denny.

  11. I have just scratched the surface of your website. I look forward to much more reading and information. Thank you so much for putting it all together and informing all of us here at The Village. Please keep us updated on anything new that is added.
  12. Wow! That's 6 years out. Must be quite a practice.
  13. Try going back to an older version. I keep a copy of the version that Travis uses in his tutorial series as well as the most current version. Sometimes it just works better than the newer version.
  14. The simplest answer I can give is, a bucket of bloody Marys for the wife and myself.
  15. Don't feel bad. It's just now starting to make sense to me after 8 years of trying.
