  1. Thanks. I like it somewhere between 68 and 78. Not centigrade though. I have a very short thermometer.
  2. When I see temps of 30 and 47 that seems pretty cool for us here in the U.S. I have no idea what that means in centigrade but I take it that it's pretty warm?
  3. I too have been following this saga. I think in the grand scheme of things, the two things that I think are WRONG are, one....the total lack of communication on the hold up of shipping your saw. And two....the fact that they bang your credit card at the instant you order the saw. If they know at that point in time that they don't have a saw to ship you, they should inform you of that and then NOT hit your CC until the moment the saw is shipped. I'm really hoping and praying for this small (?) company to survive and prosper. But, they need to get their stuff together and start acting like a real business and not a hobby of some sort.
  4. They are lucky that you aren't in a hurry Kevin. I wonder how many orders have been cancelled because of their poor delivery status. I would not be quite as patient as you. Or at least I'd be asking for something in return for my patience. Maybe an extended warranty or something. Just saying. When you get to my age, time is the most valuable commodity I have.
  5. I don't think that has much to do with vibration on scroll saws. They mechanisms are vibration producing in themselves. I haven't read/heard of things coming apart as a problem. The conversation about the tension knob turning on EX style saws would not work with safety wire. It must be turnable to micro-adjust the tension on the blades. What is needed there is a nut with a nylon sleeve in it that puts enough friction on the threads that they won't turn by themselves but can still be adjusted by the operator.
  6. There are many machine shops out there. Why be held captive by one? I wonder if it was a tractor part if they would be as patient. I think not. I'm not in business but I wouldn't sit still for that nonsense. Go somewhere else to get your part made. Or to the mfgr. that made the CNC. Nuts!
  7. Good idea Jerry. I never gave that a thought. Would that have even allowed a blade to be mounted?
  8. I think I like the rubber band the best.
  9. I think I recall you saying that Bubba. I don't blame you. Once you get a better saw, the whole world sort of opens up to you. I often wonder how many people got frustrated using a cheap saw and just gave up. That would be a shame. If you learn on a cheaper saw, once you get the better saw, you will just get better. My Grandfather was a master carpenter and could make anything. He designed and built all of his woodworking equipment out of whatever scrap wood he could round up. What he couldn't make, he did without. I think the only true power tool he ever bought was a Porter/Cable router when they first came out. I still have it.
  10. It's no different with firearms. Everybody needs more than just one.
  11. If I wasn't 3000 miles away, I'd do the same.
  12. You're gonna love that new saw. If it's anything like my EX you will have a saw to last for years.
  13. It'll take you about an hour to do the fix mentioned above. To hell with the warranty.
  14. You know Kevin, you may very well be right. These saws don't come from the factory with very much in the way of lubrication. When I took mine apart that wedge was pretty dry. I greased the heck out of the entire slide/wedge area with synthetic grease. I also did all the known fixes for the knocking noise that comes from the tension rod. I adjusted the rod. and I filed the plate that covers the rod. All stuff that should be done when taking the saw apart for service.
  15. The simple fix is often the best fix.
  16. That's exactly how I felt about my Hegner. I wanted desperately to love it but I just didn't like the way it started. I know it was MY saw and I will try another one someday. I want to try a Hawk too. I just have to convince my wife that a person NEEDS more than two saws.
  17. But, are they any good? Most pinned blades are probably junk. I would think anyway. And too big for most projects.
  18. @Bubba, the Dewalt set doesn't have a lever because it has the tension applied with the tension wheel. But, with that said, if I were to buy the Pegas clamps for my Dewalt, I'd buy the set that fits the EX type saw. I have both saws and I did put the Pegas on my Ex. I love the tension lever. So, it's a matter of what you like. But to me, I'd just set the tension wheel and leave it in one position and apply the tension with the lever. I suppose you could apply more ore less tension as needed by tweaking the tension wheel.
  19. There are times on this design of saw that when stopped after cutting, the mechanism stops on what I would call a high point. If you do a quick on/off it will move off that high point and the arms will return to where they should. Give that a try. Other than that I have no idea.
  20. My EX does not have a white line. So far I have not encountered the problem you have. But..I have not been watching for it. Now I will be. I do like Tgiro's suggestion of a block to do a quick adjustment. Sorry for your plight. I hope you get it figured out so you can "love" your EX as much as I do mine.
  21. Well, like I said, I'm going to make mine to fit the two brands my wife buys. If she changes brands, well too bad I guess. My biggest complaint is that the tissue boxes are so lightweight that whenever I try to get a tissue out of one, it ends up on the floor. So the weight of something made of wood has got to help solve that problem. I'm all for using napkins. There's always a pile of them sitting in the cupboard and they work just fine. LOL.
  22. That's for sure Karl but a good shop class is where you start.
  23. By all means. I have way more 2x4 scraps laying around than maple.
  24. Paul, I can't eat popsicles that fast. And the sticks I bought are only about 3/16" wide and maybe 8 inches long. They are great for so many things.
  25. Hey, just a heads up. I know a lot of you already know this but for those, like me, it is another great place to buy stuff. We were at Walmart yesterday and I moseyed over into the craft section. I was really surprised at what they have for crafters. And the prices are great. I bought a bottle of Aleene's tacky glue for $1.27. I also noticed how much cheaper the name brand C/A type glues were as compared to H/D. I also bought a package of wood coffee stir sticks to use for glue applicators. I noticed they sell wooden dowel rods in the 36" range from 1/8" to 7/8" for cheap. So, check them out the next time you need something that you might run to your local hardware/craft store to get. You might be surprised.
