  1. The jamb nut is there to prevent the knob from loosening. Not to lock the adjustment screw. The fix will be down inside where the threaded rod actually raises and lowers the arm. I'm thinking that a nylon lock nut or some other friction device is either missing or worn out. A bit of tear down might be in order. The arm cover is easily removed and might expose the area in question. Not sure but I think it will be a fairly easy fix once the problem is discovered. I don't think blue LocTite is the answer. The rubber band will help but is not the real fix.
  2. For me, it's what I ate this morning. Getting worse too. I was typing something yesterday and had the word in my mind but when I got to the point where I wanted to put it, it was gone. Couldn't for the life of remember what that word was. I guess we are running low on RAM memory.
  3. No, I meant as in when they came on board with Windows 7. Never quite understood why they had to change the name. I was used to using folders and never did figure out "libraries" and their use.
  4. I still don't know what "libraries" are.
  5. I will have to do that. My problem right now is that I'm trying desperately to learn Inkscape and I devote waaaaaay too much time to that instead of going out and actually cutting something for which this forum was named.
  6. I messed with Linux Ubuntu and it was ok. I just like the look/feel/familiarity of Windows programs. Just what I'm used to. I learned back when DOS was the thing and when Windows came along, I just gravitated to it.
  7. I tried this software but I never really found a great use for it. I'm not into designing anything because I have zero imagination of my own. But, it is probably very good if you need this type of program.
  8. That will probably never happen. The one and only software package I have ever purchased was Roboform back when you could buy it for life at $29.95. Now, it's $19.95 a year for each computer. My lifetime one is still good for my desktop machine. The absolute best password/login/i.d. keeper there is.
  9. Does that mean that your table will only tilt one way? I'm not understanding the situation at all. But, then again, there are a lot of situations that I don't understand lately.
  10. Thanks for the great software suggestion. I just installed it and gave it a run. It works very well. I think I will like it and be using it often.
  11. Another program that I use a lot for screen grabs is "Jing" from Techsmart. They also put out "Snagit" but you have to buy that one. Jing is free. I use it all the time. I am going to give your suggestion a try. It might be even better than Jing if it is faster. Thanks for your suggestion.
  12. What are crown boxes?
  13. I have only ordered from BW once. It took a couple of weeks to get part of my order because of backorder situation. The did finally ship the remainder but all in all, I think it was pretty close to a month to get it completed. I'll not be ordering from them again unless they have something that nobody else has. JMHO.
  14. It really does make a person appreciate the modern saws that we are all using. I'd hate to have to sit and pedal to get things cut. But, at the same time, I do love seeing how the people used to do the wonderful things they did with so little in the way of tools and equipment.
  15. Thanks Wayne. I love this stuff too. I watch a lot of videos on anything steam driven and I love watching lumber mills in action too.
  16. Pix?
  17. We had a 3 car garage in our last home. We sold it along with everything else we owned to go out on the road full time. We were out for 3 years and are now in a mobile home. I'm very thankful for the shop I have but I'm going to figure a way to have more room. My biggest problem is the dampness from being so close to the ocean. Everything rusts quickly. Whatever I leave outside has to have a good cover to protect it.
  18. I'd kill to have that much room.
  19. Congrats Dave. Keep us informed as to how it works out. Should be great knowing Pegas as we do.
  20. The only time I had a problem, and that is what prompted me to buy a good mask, I salvaged a piece of cheap luan plywood out of our motorhome when I was redoing the bedroom in it. I was using the plywood to practice on with the practice patterns from one of my first books. I sat hunkered over my saw for a couple of hours cutting and sucking in all the dust. The next day, I woke up with a severe headache and I was plugged up solid in both nostrils. So, I learned early on that a good mask was a necessity. I also bought a 20 inch box fan and a package of 4 cheap furnace filters. Those two things really helped. Since then, I have put a good dust collection system on my Dewalt and I'm designing one for my EX. The Wen air cleaner helps a lot too.
  21. That's about all I have room for. Thanks.
  22. It looks like a great compact little unit. I used to have a Craftsman 6" jointer that weighed a ton. It sat on a stand that was open at the bottom and would make a terrible mess. I finally invested in a cloth bag that surrounded it and caught most of the cuttings. Made a world of difference. And, it actually did a great job of cutting accurately.
  23. I've heard and read good things about those Jim. I might put that on my shopping list if something else doesn't come along. I'm looking at the Sears 4 1/2" ones but trying to find one that isn't all beat to heck is tough. There is a guy on C/L right now that is selling a H/F table saw, a Ryobi 16" scroll saw and a Sears jointer for $150. Not too far away but I'm trying to either get his price down or to sell me the jointer by itself. So far, he isn't replying to my texts. We'll see what happens by next week. So far, he has had his ad up for almost a week with no takers. I'll give him till Monday and then go back at him.
  24. I have no garage door. I have no garage. LOL
  25. Ok, we both know the answer to that question then.
