    Momentary. When that blade breaks and scares the bejeebers out of you, the last thing you want to do is start looking for your switch to shut it off. Just my opinion.

    I would hate to have to switch the saw off and on from the main switch up on top. And, the foot switch would be far cheaper to replace when it wears out.

    Thanks. I should have been able to figure that out. My "go-to" wood supplier here by me has hard maple but not the softer kind so I guess I'll go with the hard stuff. What I'm making should be no problem with cutting. Nothing over 1/4" thick.

    Now, there is another name for maple. Never heard of "rock" maple before. Wood can be so confusing. I'm just trying to find contrasting shades without having to use stain. I hate staining. Messy.

    The baskets are made up of multiple layers of 1/4" thick pieces. Nothing more than that. I'm toying with changing the patterns a bit to make some different size and look baskets and they may incorporate a little thicker wood. Maybe up to 1/2" but nothing more than that.

    Thanks Bill. I'm trying to order some wood to make more of the baskets that I have made in the past. I want to make some with two woods with contrasting color so I'm leaning toward walnut and maple. The local wood source I use lists "hard" maple but does not list "soft" maple. I'm wondering if the hard maple will do ok on the scroll saw. Can you advise me? Thanks again.

    Me too Karl. I bought because of price and I bought the "deadman" style that requires me to keep my foot on the switch to make the saw run. I just found that the crappy wire they are using now and the fact that it came out of the side instead of the same plane as the other wire, made the switch want to find a home of its own. Now, it will stay where I put it.

    Be careful about what you do though because knobs that are of different weight can cause or increase vibration. I did find that out on my Dewalt when I made some wooden pieces that went over the tee handles. I epoxyed them on and never gave any thought to the increased weight or the possible difference between the upper and lower knob weights.

    Mine were pretty much in the position needed. I think I might have had to move one or the other set screw. I don't recall. And for instructions, I never gave it a thought. I took off the old and installed the new.

    Kevin, can you tell me what the difference is between "hard" maple and regular maple? And, please, no smartass answers.

    That's strange Kevin. I bought my EX used but the switch came with it in a box that has the Excalibur name on it. The switch doesn't have the computer type plugin on it. It's identical to the H/F switch. Anyway, if you decide to do what I did, it's very easy. Takes just a few minutes.

    Thanks Rolf. I am going to get rid of my shop chair. It's not comfortable at all. I never should have bought it in the first place. Oh well..you live and learn. Scrappile sent me a picture of his work station and I like the chair he has. He also included the link to where he got it. https://www.globalindustrial.com/. Not cheap by any means but if it works out, it doesn't matter.

    The two rear legs are just barely on the matting. Not sure yet of how I'm going to set the saw up but for now, it's ok.

    That is very similar to what I have but looks more comfortable. I need a softer seat too. Thanks for your kind efforts to appease me.

    It doesn't look tall enough. Do you rest your chin on the table?

    That's really not fair. Everybody should have to show their mug. No matter how bad it is. Just look at Scrappile for gosh sakes.
