  1. My problem exactly. I'm a hoarder plain and simple.
  2. I have seen quite a few Sakura saws for sale on C/L and very cheap. I mean $50 cheap. Another of their names is Scrollmate. Be on the lookout for any of the names.
  3. The reason I asked this question is, I just finished cutting out a basket from red oak and poplar. It has 9 layers and there were a ton of cutouts from the center sections. I have them neatly stacked right now on my bench and I was wondering where to put them other than the dumpster. The pieces started out as 6 x 10 and 1/4" thick. So, I have all the outer pieces that have corners still intact and of course, the centers. I think the centers might be useable for coasters or something like that. About 3 1/2" in diameter. The outer cutouts are pretty much scrap unless I can figure out a way to use the corners for something. Nothing comes to mind at this point. I guess I could use them for test pieces for staining. Maybe that's what they are good for. Aha!
  4. Thanks Brian, good test. I guess I'll save my money too.
  5. We really do need a "WOW" icon here. That is gorgeous. What a fantastic project.
  6. Well thanks folks. Now I have a good reason to not throw anything away. I'm not into intarsia but I can see where the little pieces might come in handy for jewelry. I think I'll have to give this some more thought.
  7. I am a wood "hoarder". I can't pass up a piece of wood when I see one lying around. And, once I've finished cutting something out, I can't bring myself to throw the leftovers into the trash bin. How small does a scrap have to be before it's considered "junk" and put into the trash? I don't have a wood burner so it all has to go into a dumpster. Am I the only one with this problem? My wife says I'm sick and need help.
  8. Brad, that sounds like a good size for my little shop. Can you maybe shoot a couple of pics and post them here? And also, what is the brand/model of it so I can start watching C/L for it? Thanks in advance.
  9. I was just thinking the same thing Larry. The written word is far easier to misconstrue that the spoken word. Not necessary.
  10. This visual brought back a memory of a project I did. We had a home with a brick hearth that was at floor level. It went from one wall to the other. The distance of about 15 feet. Anyway, I decided that I wanted to cut it down to the width of the actual fireplace plus a couple of inche on either side. So, I bought a masonry blade for my 7 1/4" saw and proceeded to cut across the bricks from front to back. A distance of about 20 inches. All went well until it was time for cleanup. I have never heard the end of it. I had brick dust throughout the entire house from top to bottom. Both stories. I forgot to "curtain" the area off. Ha! I never even thought about it. That's what inexperienced youth will get you.
  11. I look forward to seeing what you have to say. Thanks.
  12. I look forward to your test results. Have you figured out the total cost per blade?
  13. I went back and re-read that post and now I recall it. Thanks again for your efforts in providing the test results. I was wondering just how long these blades would last in softer woods and if they would be worth the cost if they worked as long as a dozen of the regular blades that everybody is using. The only way it makes any sense is to buy a large amount to secure the best shipping cost per blade. I'll just stick with the Pegas and FDUR I guess. I still want to try the FD PSR also.
  14. Thanks Larry. I haven't had much luck with the search feature here on SSV. I either can't come up with the correct criteria or I'm just not as gifted.
  15. Les. it's the Dewalt that has the pivoting tip. And I'm not positive right now but I'll bet it would fit in your holder. I'm thinking it's 10-32 also. I'll go out and check after dinner.
  16. I think I have heard that stuff recommended for guns too. If I'm not wrong, it has graphite in it.
  17. Thanks Les. That's North of Denver isn't it? That guy must never sleep. He seems like he is going 25/7.
  18. On my Hegner I use Hawes oil on the two pivot points. Great stuff but hard to find. I used to sell it off my tool truck and I had a couple of the little 4 oz. sample bottles left. They have lasted me many years. The best penetrating oil I have ever found. R
  19. On the Hegner there is no way to "set" the blade to center on the lower clamp but on the upper clamp, there is a locking knob that centers the blade clamp. Make sure the blades are in the clamps correctly. They should be against one shoulder of the clamp and the lock screw run up to them to clamp the blade in place. I have a Hegner and a Dewalt and I get no "wobble" out of either of them unless I have forgotten to tension the blade. Which happens more often that I like.
  20. What city is he in Les? I used to live South of you in Woodland Park. Curious.
  21. I must be misunderstanding. Are the black areas to be cut out?
  22. I tried every way I could think of in my searches and found nothing. I knew it had been talked about but nothing came up in a search using PSwood or PS Wood or ??
  23. Sorry, I hit the wrong key. It should have said 25.4 not 26.4. 1" = 25.4 mm. 55mm divided by 25.4 = 2.17. So, he will have to enlarge a 2" hole saw hole a wee bit.
  24. I know that I have seen these blades mentioned here before but after searching for them, I can't find where they were discussed. What is the general consensus of the PS Wood blades? After watching videos of the ScrollersNation on Youtube, he raves about them and also the scroll saws. I am thinking of trying a couple dozen but I would like to hear from those of you who may have tried them and what you think. I know they are pricey but if they outlast the others and cut great, maybe they are worth the price. Just askin..............
