  1. When I use a piece, I try to bend over the corner of the next piece so I have a way of finding it and also of parting it from the back. What you did is ingenius. R
  2. Jerry, you crack me up. You have a way of saying stuff that is just funny. Keep the good humor coming. R
  3. I live within 10 minutes of where the map shows the location. But, you are right about that. Maybe he is just too lazy to shoot pics with his phone and went the easy way.
  4. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/d/dewalt-scroll-saw-20/6579363414.html How can you beat $225 for a saw that appears to be in mint condition? With stand.
  5. A circle cutting jig is very simple to make and use. Do a youtube search and you'll see what I mean. Not much involved at all.
  6. Do you have a bandsaw? If so, why not do round backers on it? Much easier, faster and more accurate. R
  7. There is a four part video series on youtube done by Bob Brokaw of the Gwinnette Woodworkers that is by far better than any pics. At least for me. I downloaded all four of them and made them into one movie using Windows Movie Maker. I refer back to it all the time. But, I agree that pics of some or all of the other saws might be beneficial to others here. I'm mechanically oriented so I have to "fix" everything that comes along. Even when it doesn't need fixing. R
  8. No. Absolutely not. On mine, the bearing was not extremely tight but it didn't move like that. I still had to "knock" it out with a hammer and punch but it wasn't difficult. I keep an eye on mine. I think the connecting rod is stretching on all of the saws and it allows the bearing to loosen up. I'd purchase a new rod. I think it might come with the bearing installed. Not sure. That could be your vibration if you are chasing one. On my saw, I found the other end of that rod had come loose. After tightening the screw I solved about 99% of my vibration but I still went through and checked all the bearings and sleeves. Be sure to get some good synthetic grease. You can get a one pound can on Amazon for about $12 if I recall. I used a pipe cleaner to grease everything. No need for the injector needle that Bob Brokaw used. Good luck and let us know how it comes out. Ray
  9. Maybe Hobby Lobby or Michael's crafts for a pine shelf like Roly mentioned. R
  10. Al, I had the same thought but I don't think it will fit. The top is cut in a triangle and I'm not sure that the saw would fit backwards to the frame. I'll take a look but I don't think it will. Anyway, it's too tall for my liking. I was just going to build a short stand and toss the Heg stand up in the rafters. R
  11. You are so right Les. I have a Heg and the stand is not user friendly. I built a stand for my Dewalt and put the single leg in front. I prefer to straddle it rather than have to sit with my legs wrapped around the outside of two legs. If I decide to keep the Heg, I will build a stand for it similar to the one that my Dewalt sits on. I don't know what they were thinking. R
  12. Dick, I used the Snip tool that came with Windows 7 and liked it. Then I switched over to Win 10 and it wasn't there. So, I went out and found it and added it to my computer. But somewhere along the line, I was told about Jing. I was curious so I went out and got it too. It is a free tool so I figured what could it possibly cost me but my time. After using it and finding out how user friendly it is, well, now that's all I use. Give it a try. You'll like it. I promise.
  13. I would imagine that the mag lens might be causing problems because everybody seems to have a different up close prescription. I know my wife uses 3.25 in her reading glasses and I only use 2.50. Either way, I like the mag lens on my H/F light. R
  14. I went ahead and ordered my wood from Cherokee. I'm going to use poplar and red oak. 1/4" thick. What blades would you all recommend I use? I have some FD, some Pegas and some Olson. I won't list all the different configurations I have but it would be interesting to see what all you suggest. Thanks for all your help, advice and patience. R
  15. Dick I agree. But, I find that the Jing tool works faster and easier. It loads at startup and is always lurking there in the back ground. It lives up along the top row of tabs and also is available no matter what other program I might be using. Because it's already loaded into memory, it doesn't take any time to work like the Snipit tool does. R
  16. Ooops! I misunderstood your posting Munzieb. Thanks for the link.
  17. I left the cover on mine mostly because it keeps the surface dust from settling on the lens when not in use.
  18. Thanks Rusty, I have been going back and forth with Chris Reid and he has answered all my questions. Very good service on their chat line. I ordered some red oak and some poplar. With shipping, tax etc. it came to $31. $13 shipping. I couldn't drive up and back for that. 49 miles each way. Ray
  19. Thanks to all of you for your help and advice. I'm going to try Cherokee for now and I think I will try poplar and some other wood. Maybe pine but for now, I'll just see what comes up.
  20. Here is a link to a youtube video that tells how to convert to LED. Looks simple enough.
  21. Les, it's florescent but if I'm not wrong, there is an LED replacement bulb for it. I'm going to be looking for one in the future. R
  22. Jes, it's in Upland. I'm down in Huntington Beach. I don't know how long you've been away but it's gotten worse. We used to be able to do our running around in the mornings after 9a.m. as long as we were off the freeway by 2p.m. But now, there is no good time during the daylight hours and weekends are as bad or worse. Surface streets are terrible. The biggest problem, and I say this only for information sake, there are just too many people here now that come from countries where the automobile is their second or third mode of transportation. They haven't got a clue as to how to drive. Everything they do is sudden. No planning ahead at all. My dear friend who lived here in our park relocated 2 years ago to Ft. Pierce, Fl. and they are happy as clams down there. Other friends located to Tennessee and also very happy. I'd move in the blink of an eye if I could pry my wife loose but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon. So, we stay and I'm miserable when I have to leave home. R
  23. You won't be sorry. It's a great light and the magnifier is very good. I use it without my eyes going bonkers. R
  24. That's the same one I have been telling everybody about too. I have two of them. Ray
  25. Well, around where I live, unless you want to go in the middle of the night, it's going to be crowded. The nearest place is probably 40 miles from where we live. So if you double that and divide by about 18 miles per gallon and then multiply that by $3.30 a gallon, it becomes more efficient to just pay the shipping and leave the driving to them. I wish there was somebody near me to split orders with but right now, I'm all alone. My regular SS partner here in the park is dealing with her ailing husband and has no time nor desire for scroll sawing. She is losing her partner in life at a fast rate. Sad. Ray
