  1. That's great Brad. I hope you get back to full steam soon. But, baby steps is what it's all about. Baby steps.
  2. I can only speak for myself. I bought a used Dewalt 788 type 1. I love it. Had to do some service on it but worth it. Not sure about the arm on the Delta but either way, you can fix that for $25 or less. Just for the sheer sake of parts I'd go with the Dewalt but I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Have you watched the Craigslist in your area? I see used Dewalts all the time for anywhere from $150 to $450. Of course, you can buy a new one for $450 most anywhere. Best of luck on the one you choose. R
  3. Thanks Katie for that link. That looks like the best and most economical way to go. At least for now. Maybe after I get my tax refund check (ha ha) I'll invest in the more expensive kind. R
  4. Thanks Ike. I think I will go with one of them too. I had a really good Dewalt variable speed ros but it got sold when we sold out everything to go out on the road. There are things that I truly regret selling but that's all in the rear view mirror now. R
  5. What brand do you have? Are they variable speed or does it matter?
  6. I like that idea. Thanks. Maybe I don't need a sander.
  7. I'm thinking of one of those little "mouse" type sanders. Lightweight, not to overpowering, and so on. Thanks all. Sorry for bringing this up again. R \
  8. John T. it was me that brought it up the last time but I can't seem to find it again. I never have any luck with the "search" feature on forums. Anyway, thanks for bringing it up.
  9. I have a H/F R/O sander. One speed. Hi! Too powerful and no way to slow it down. So, I'm in the market to buy another sander. I'm looking at either a mouse palm sander or a R/O sander with variable speed. Which one do most of you folks have, how do you like it and why? R
  10. I used Firefox for many years but they kept updating and changing things. Too many things stopped working. I switched over to Chrome (begrudgingly) and haven't had a problem since. That's been about 4 years now. I use Roboform as my password/I.D. keeper and it works with Chrome so all is good. Give it a try. R
  11. Here is what I see.
  12. Well, I'm using Chrome and it reads fine. Maybe a setting in your browsers is set wrong. Not sure what to say. R
  13. That's strange Jes. I use Chrome and it came through fine. I was surprised at the ".website" extension though.
  14. Well John, it looks like a great start. But, there is only one "m" in "coming". Other than that, you're off to a great start. R
  15. Hello John, welcome back. R
  16. Dan, I've never heard of E6000. Can you expand on that? Brand or name or ??????????? I want to see if I can find some. Thanks. R OOOPS! Never mind Dan. I found it. I've never paid any attention before but I guess it's sold under that name everywhere.
  17. Travis, maybe you should change that classification to "poster" instead of "scroller" just to clear up the confusion. I'm considered an "obsessed scroller" if I'm not mistaken but still just a newbie novice to the hobby and I guess I might be considered "obsessed" but by no means am I any good at it. Still just learning. But I do post a lot and try to be involved in the conversations here because I like everybody and it's fun. R
  18. I was just putting forth another way to get the wood needed. I live in California and I try to buy as much stuff out of the area to keep the tax money out of the hands of our elected thieves. California has a way of wasting every dime they can get their hands on. JMHO! R
  19. The bandsaw is very handy to have. I use it a lot. I don't have room for a dedicated table saw. I have one that folds up and I have to set it up everytime I want to make a quick cut. So, I have put my bandsaw to use many times just to make that "quick" cut. Of course it does have size limitations so I still have to set up my table saw from time to time. I try to plan my projects around that sort of like planning a run to Home Depot for the folks who live out in the country. R
  20. I know that there are more than one person here on SSV who get their BB from eBay and swear by it. They seem to have pretty good prices. All ya gotta do is work the mouse. R
  21. There is another source for the bearings here in the U.S. if you run into problems. Good luck with your rebuild. R VXB.com and the lady to talk to is Vivian at [email protected]
  22. How old is your saw? Is it a type 1? Looks like it was used hard and never serviced at all. Mine is a type 1 and it was in much better shape. How much vibration did you have? I'll bet it was noisy. You'll love it when it's all back to where it should be. If it were me, I'd replace all the bearings, sleeves and probably the screws too. And the main drive rod too. R
  23. Check out Cherokee Wood at their website. They are very friendly and helpful and the wood is great. So far. And also, Home Depot has Baltic Birch plywood I'm sure. R
  24. I think the short answer is it's made up of actual wood where MDF is nothing more than resin and sawdust. The holding power of p/w over MDF when using screws would be far superior.
  25. Kevin, check out this youtube video. It looks like a pretty good circle jig and should do everything you need. I'm going to make one like this and toss my old one. R
