    Looks great Frank and I agree with everything you said. I didn't get any paperwork with mine as it was used so I just watched a few videos and went from there. There is another Villager here by the name of TAIrving that I met on Facebook on the Neje group. He has been a great help also. He has the same unit we have but I'm not sure what size. Mine is the large one. For what I originally intended I could have gone with the small one but I didn't find a deal on one so I have what I have. I will find a use for it at some point. For now, I'm going to be doing what have have done. I won't date anything that I might sell but will anything that I gift.

    Here's my first image and how I've got it laid out on a plastic table for now. I'll have to come up with a better setup for sure.

    When you mention "grid mat" can you give me some idea of what you are using? I've seen some folks using the green cutting mats. Is that what you use? Doesn't the laser burn it? My idea is to mount it to a solid 3/4" piece of plywood and cut a large hole in it to suspend the laser over. That way I can put tall pieces under the laser and adjust the height accordingly. I've been told to just elevate the laser on blocks but seems too unstable. I'm open to suggestions. Most of my creations have been 5" to 10" in height.

    Not yet. Still in the studying stage. There were a couple of things missing and a broken wire in one harness. Also had/have many honey-dos so there is that too.

    Also, check Harbor Freight. They've got some very nice lightweight generators. They are very quiet and efficient to operate.

    So if I'm understanding you, you find your artwork and then cut your project to match it? I can't see any other way. Cutting out a dog and then finding a picture to match it could prove frustrating as heck!

    The exact same thing COULD here in the U.S. Our infrastructure is in sad shape too.

    I'm following this thread too John. I'm just curious as to where you get the artwork that you glue on. Can you gjve any explanation as to the process or is it a trade secret?

    I'm 79 years old but still crave knowledge. I'm not in the business of selling what I make. I just want a way of personalizing my work with a signature that's readable. If that violates some code, tough!

    I just bit the bullet and bought a used Neje laser on eBay for $150. About half of what a new one sells for. It's still in it's original box. Now the fun begins. Thanks to Steve Good and Daniel Zimmerman for all their expert guidance.
