  1. What Wayne said!
  2. I see them advertised at $2195 new, here in the U.S.
  3. Oops! Maybe they have something similar. Let's hope so.
  4. Also, check Harbor Freight. They've got some very nice lightweight generators. They are very quiet and efficient to operate.
  5. This kooks like a great idea. And something new to explore.
  6. So if I'm understanding you, you find your artwork and then cut your project to match it? I can't see any other way. Cutting out a dog and then finding a picture to match it could prove frustrating as heck!
  7. The exact same thing COULD here in the U.S. Our infrastructure is in sad shape too.
  8. I'm following this thread too John. I'm just curious as to where you get the artwork that you glue on. Can you gjve any explanation as to the process or is it a trade secret?
  9. Very artistic. Did you create your own patterns?
  10. I'm too old to be offended. No problem. No apology necessary. Just me being my old cantankerous self.
  11. I'm 79 years old but still crave knowledge. I'm not in the business of selling what I make. I just want a way of personalizing my work with a signature that's readable. If that violates some code, tough!
  12. Will do Kevin. No more mention of lasers here.
  13. I just bit the bullet and bought a used Neje laser on eBay for $150. About half of what a new one sells for. It's still in it's original box. Now the fun begins. Thanks to Steve Good and Daniel Zimmerman for all their expert guidance.
  14. I hope you check the filter occasionally.
  15. Not sure but if her fridge has stainless like so many do, magnets don't stick well. We gave up on them when we got an all stainless kitchen.
  16. Are you referring to the "box A/C" Kevin? Window style?
  17. To add, this is another hobby also. Just gaining knowledge is important to me. As usual, learning the vernacular is where we must start. I never gave lasers much thought but my eyes have been opened to the possibilities.
  18. Thanks Dan. Goes to show how old I am. I forgot all about that group.
  19. I'm thinking of buying a small laser to engrave my signature on my stuff and I am totally clueless about them. So, I would love to know what you all already know about them. I know a couple of you folks have them so I'm hoping this topic will generate a whole bunch of info on the subject. I was looking at one called "Laser Pecker". No jokes please. It seems to be able to do what I want but it is not something that can be enhanced. It's a what you have is what you get sort of thing. I don't want to just throw money away if I might want to get more into the hobby at a later point. So, with that said, I also don't have a boatload of money nor space so that has to be taken into consideration also. Now, I'm going to sit back and wait to read all the posts that I just know are coming.
  20. Covid never got us. We just gained weight. We found the key is "naps". We do small tasks and then sit a soell. Maybe read a bit. That makes us sleepy. So then a nap. I've gotten more active in my shop. The weather is cooperating. Not hot or humid. Glad to see/hear from you Kevin. Hang in there. Kevin, I feel your pain. But in miniature. My shop is tiny. But I keep acquiring more wood. I can't stand to see wood go anywhere except into woodworking projects so I keep dragging it home. I haven't gotten to saving pallets yet but I'm not ruling it out. It's probably a good thing I don't have a warehouse like you. Just take it day by day.
  21. You must not have done it right. It works great but you have to replace them fairly often. I use the 1/4" wide bands that are not too large so there is a good tension on them when wrapped a couple of times around the shaft and then stretched down to the right and hooked around one of the bolt heads.

  23. I'd go Ridgid. At least they make their stuff, I think. And buying from H/D means warranty/service. Sears is gone if I'm not mistaken. Who does their service? Sears never made anything. Everything they sold came from suppliers.
  24. Or you can wrap a rubber band around it.
  25. I painted a line on mine and it does move a bit. I keep an eye on it and have to turn it a quarter turn back ever couple of hours of cutting. The more drill holes, the more it moves.
