    Not sure but if her fridge has stainless like so many do, magnets don't stick well. We gave up on them when we got an all stainless kitchen.

    To add, this is another hobby also. Just gaining knowledge is important to me. As usual, learning the vernacular is where we must start. I never gave lasers much thought but my eyes have been opened to the possibilities.

    I'm thinking of buying a small laser to engrave my signature on my stuff and I am totally clueless about them. So, I would love to know what you all already know about them. I know a couple of you folks have them so I'm hoping this topic will generate a whole bunch of info on the subject. I was looking at one called "Laser Pecker". No jokes please. It seems to be able to do what I want but it is not something that can be enhanced. It's a what you have is what you get sort of thing. I don't want to just throw money away if I might want to get more into the hobby at a later point. So, with that said, I also don't have a boatload of money nor space so that has to be taken into consideration also. Now, I'm going to sit back and wait to read all the posts that I just know are coming.

    Covid never got us. We just gained weight. We found the key is "naps". We do small tasks and then sit a soell. Maybe read a bit. That makes us sleepy. So then a nap. I've gotten more active in my shop. The weather is cooperating. Not hot or humid. Glad to see/hear from you Kevin. Hang in there. Kevin, I feel your pain. But in miniature. My shop is tiny. But I keep acquiring more wood. I can't stand to see wood go anywhere except into woodworking projects so I keep dragging it home. I haven't gotten to saving pallets yet but I'm not ruling it out. It's probably a good thing I don't have a warehouse like you. Just take it day by day.

    You must not have done it right. It works great but you have to replace them fairly often. I use the 1/4" wide bands that are not too large so there is a good tension on them when wrapped a couple of times around the shaft and then stretched down to the right and hooked around one of the bolt heads.

    I'd go Ridgid. At least they make their stuff, I think. And buying from H/D means warranty/service. Sears is gone if I'm not mistaken. Who does their service? Sears never made anything. Everything they sold came from suppliers.

    I painted a line on mine and it does move a bit. I keep an eye on it and have to turn it a quarter turn back ever couple of hours of cutting. The more drill holes, the more it moves.

    You are probably right but they did have thinner for a while. Not sure what they have now. One of these days I'll cross the line into L.A. County. Just never get that direction. Thanks for the info.

    Thanks Dan. Great info. Up til now I've dipped everything in Watco oil but it takes at least 3 days to dry enough prior to spraying with Zinnser's shellac. Since HD doesn't sell MS nearby, would mixing paint thinner be ok? I'd like to try the boiled linseed oil once my Watcos is gone.

    Thanks Danny. Maybe I'm thinking too small. I'm still living in the last decade or so. I do use good wood. I buy all my wood from a yard that specializes in scroll saw folks. Chris, he guy who runs their online operation, always fixes me up with a box of scraps/cutoffs that they can't sell. So a trip out there is always like Christmas. You can't imagine how much purple heart I have just waiting for the right project. If you ever need great wood at a great price, check out cherokee Wood Products.

    Danny, I've got 3 patterns and chose this one to try out. I made the first one full size, the second one is the shortest and the 3rd one will be mid-size. My wife wanted a full set to sit on our kitchen counter. Anyway, to my point. I'm going to make them in sets of 3 and see what the market will bear. Knowing what folks are willing to pay for things that are home-made does give me the incentive to try more. It's coming to mind that people are starting to want quality instead of the Chinese crap that is everywhere and are will to pay for it. So, with that in mind, I'm going to start these out at $149.95 for a set including the battery operated candles. Plus shipping of course. I'm not going to use Etsy either. Why give them a share of the profits? Just my 2 cents.

    When you lift your saw, use the motor and the front edge of the table as lift points. DO NOT lift by the upper arm.

    Great job Frank. I love all of the "Tree of Life" patterns that have been done but yours stands out from the others.

    I took the pattern from the last one and shrunk it down so I could use one of the short candles that came in the set. This one is 4 inches but I have a 2 & 3 also. Not sure yet which one will look better. Gotta wait for dark.

    I bought some nice parchment type paper and made up some stationary with my name and added "Esq" to my name. It gives the impression that I'm an attorney. When I write a letter, it seems to be taken seriously. Luckily I don't have many opportunities to use them.

    I'm not sure how that compares to U.S. dollars but if it's anywhere close that would be a great price. It makes me wonder how much we are being taxed here and not informed.

    I'm curious. How much do they cost. Here in the states anywhere from $1500 to $2000 for an 18 inch.
