    Yer welcome sir. 7-8 years ago, I was in the same boat with my first Dewalt so I had to go searching. That's when I found Scrollsaws.com. And then I found this group. Very thankful for both.

    I found, through experience, that if I lengthened the rod, it became sort of floppy loose and had a tendency to rattle. By shortening it and taking that slop out of it, the noise went away. Anyway, to your point, if it is running vibration free and quiet, best leave everything alone. I watched your first videos and it sounded like mine did when it was making that noise. That's the only reason I mentioned it. I'm happy if you are happy. Now, go make sawdust. Also, I'm sure that others will gain something from our back and forth's and your videos as it's a common problem. Most people don't have the know-how to take these things apart and fix what's wrong with them.

    Maybe not enough. I had to take enough off that it actually left that area "gone" for about 3/8" from the edge.

    You've definitely come a very long way. It just proves that it can be done with enough effort.

    You are very close to the problem but you haven't gotten to it yet. The problem is on the underside of that cover. It's not at the point that you have highlighted. I'm attaching a picture(s) of what needs to be done. Once this has been done, it keeps the upper piece that connects to the blade arms from hitting the underside of that cover. It's actually two separate problems but they can both make the same rattle sound. The tenshion rod also must be shorted by screwing it in, not out, of the wedge that it pulls on at the rear of the saw. That takes all the "slop" out of it so that it doesn't have the ability to flop around at high RPM.

    I was just thinking that when you glued your pattern to the wood could the dampness in the adhesive caused the toner to bleed? I would surmise hat you cut all the remaining toner off when scrolling. How else could it have gotten that far away from the cut line?

    If you've already filed it down it either needs more and/or the rod needs adjusting. It's probably too long and needs shortening. Get well!

    The racket you are hearing at high speed is coming from the tension rod. It needs adjusting and there is a spot of the aluminum cover that it is contacting that needs to be filed down just a tad. There is a good write-up here at http://www.scrollsaws.com that tells/explains about it. Check it out and make the awful noise go away. Congrats on a real great "barn find".

    Since everybody is so unhappy with Bear Woods, maybe you all should let Steve Good know. They are one if his sponsors and he does push them. At the same time write/forward your emails/letters to Bear Woods. Nothing ever improves if they aren't aware of the problems. I've only ordered one time from them and my experience was that it took way too long to receive my order. I just figured it was because they were in Canada and I'm not. I've never re-ordered. I get excellent service from Denny Kneppan.

    I'm curious Dave, does the table of the Pegas bandsaw have a pin in the side of it to align the two halves of the table? My Delta bandsaw has one and most every bandsaw I've ever seen also had one. I'd be surprised if your Pegas saw was different.

    The only shellac I've used to this date is the Zinnser's spray. Should there be something regarding wax on the can? I'll check it out but is it that easy? Another question comes to mind. These boxes are BB inner and outer. I want to leave the inner box natural but with some sort of finish applied to it just to seal it off. Then the outer BB is where the pattern is cut. This is the part that will be either stained or painted. In this case, it will be stained so you've answered that question. What can I use to seal the inner box but still be able to attach the outer panels with Weldwood glue?

    On this subject, I'd ask this question. Those of you who do a lot of projects in BB ply, how to you finish them? I made some tissue box covers and had a terrible time to stain to the desired color. I've backed away from staining BB and will either leave it natural with just a clear coat or paint it after using a sanding sealer. I admit that I'm very ignorant re: finishing so any help is appreciated. So far my finishing has been retricted to soaking in Watco natural and then after a good drying period, a couple coates of Zinnser's spray shellac. I'd love to know how to truly achieve a fine finish.

    I'd still do the glue-up first. I'm not sure how well the glues we all use will stick to the finished surfaces. Most of our finishes have oil in them and the glues depend on soaking into the wood fibers.

    What Wayne said. Here's a pick of the only bowl I've made to date. It's been watco'd. I also shot a coat of Zinnser's shellac at it but after the pic was taken.
