  1. Here's a youtube video that explains some things. It appears that Watco is a bi-product of Rustoleum. I also found out that the VOC count is determined by the size of container more than the product itself. It's a count of the particles of carcinogenic compounds in the mix. They are capped at 380 in gallons.
  2. I have no answer to your question but I will say this. We have all floor vents in our mobile home for both the heat and a/c and the filter in the furnace is severely lacking in filtration so I bought some filter cloth on Amazon and went to each floor outlet and put some of it in the duct so that some degree of filtration is right at the outlet point. It seems to have helped a lot. This is what I bought.
  3. That's all well and good to know but without more info, what good is your report? What brand, VOC, etc? I have been using Watco in natural for most everything I've done and then if needed, I spray with Zinnser's spray shellac. I'm definitely not any sort of an expert on finishing so any tidbit of info I can get is greatly appreciated.
  4. You are not alone my Friend. That's why I am engaged in buying and selling scroll saws and anything else that I find a deal on. I have money squirreled away that the boss knows nothing about.
  5. Get your order in!
  6. It looks like you are ready for a big weekend. Congrats and I hope it all pays off for you. Have fun! That's the main thing.
  7. Only 36 small monthly pmts on your Visa! Lol.
  8. Ok, thanks. I bought something similar to polish the wheels on our Chrysler 300. Too much work. I never thought about using it on wood. I'd have to buy a new one as mine is full of mag polish.
  9. Barb, how about a pic of what you have? I'm trying to envision what you are talking about.
  10. Congrats on your new toy. You now have one of the best saws made. Go make something!
  11. Eric your English is fine and we all understood the gist of your question. Glad you asked it. Keep asking questions because many folks are just entering this great hobby and have the same questions as you. Glad you're here. Please post pics of your work as you move along. It's fun for everybody to see your progression. We've all been in your shoes.
  12. I'm not sure exactly of what you ask. But, let me give my best answer. I use nothing but Pegas #5mgt blades. I have no idea of tooth count or width. I use a blade until it either breaks or becomes unwieldy. When I realize that I'm having to push harder or the sound changes or if I can't keep it going in the direction that I want, then it's time to change blades. I have encountered brand nee blades that don't act right so they get tossed. I hope this answers your question.
  13. Jack of all trades, master of none.
  14. Yeah, I came to realize that it wasn't the kids I disliked. It was the crappy parents.
  15. I'd think for the price that they are getting for those blades, the least they could do is give a reverse blade. The underside is not as pretty as with my Pegas blades. They just work.
  16. As I said, they all sound familiar to me. I sold real estate, mostly recreational land, up in Teller County when we lived there. We bought the store so that we'd have a business we could run together. After working with mechanics all those years, it was a real eye-opener to work around women. Never again. I used to chase away more business than I should have. I couldn't stand to watch women let their "little darlings" destroy many dollars worth of cards and goods and then buy a $.75 card. I went back into the tool business up there and then transferred back to So Cal once our store and our home were sold.
  17. Well, I have enough material left over that I'm going to make another of these vases. This time I'll use the Pegas blades on the Hegner and see how it works with them. I honestly think they are the best cutting blades out there and I have no problem with them straying off line or drifting like the FD blades do. I've experimented with some of the blades that many folks swear by but I keep coming back to the Pegas. I love them.
  18. Well, to sum up my feelings re:PS Woods Super Sharp blades, I used a #7 to cut the frame work on my vase out of 3/4" oak. They did an OK job but nothing to warrant spending the big money on them. I also tried #5's but they were a definite no-go. Then I swapped saws to my favorite Excalibur 21 and some Pegas #5mgt blades. WOW! Big difference. I love those blades. I'll not be experimenting anymore unless I feel that there might be a better way. I have 7 tubes of Super Sharps with about 5 dozen in each tube. They will be there for all time. Well, maybe to cut up firewood or something. LOL.
  19. I know but I'm selling one of the Hegs.
  20. Why not get a scroll saw that is pedal powered and kill 2 birds with one rock.
  21. I have 4. Do I need 4? Nope but I like having 4. Enjoy.
  22. All those places sound familiar to me. We lived in Woodland Park from 85-91. We owned/operated Barb's Hallmark Shop at 19th & Uintah at Uintah Gardens shopping center.
  23. Outstanding! I'm glad you got it figured out. Nice work Jim.
  24. I don't mind oak. I've used it with no problems. I think the worst wood I've encountered so far was some maple that gave me fits. But, it was early on and I've learned a lot since then. Oak is not a problem at all.
  25. Not glued at all. They were all cut from one piece of 1/2" oak. Like concentric circles only octagons. I'll try this again. I converted my pdf to a jpg. This is what the pattern looks like.
